The amount of content that is in this video was mindblowing, it's a true class on budhism, and way better than most of those "religion explained" videos. FFX may not ever be my favorite FF, but at least I can have a much better undertanding of it now, so thank you. Let's just pretend Yuna didn't went and became a pop singer after achieving Nirvana lol

That's what I would do after achieving it, one last ride.

      Pay attention.
      She wasn't a pop singer.
She never sang that pop song in the beginning.
She sang the sad love song later on. Even that mostly came from Lenn.

@@KanemiX3LOL. In FFX2's world Yuna is already stablished from the start of the game as a wildly popular singer. Who do you think the public in the show was there to watch? Leblanc? Lenn? Both are plot devices do advance the story only the player and the main characters will know about, that the average joe inworld have no clue about. Granted Yuna was already famous from her summoner time, but the public is clearly there hyped to music and dancing, everybody knows Yuna is a pop singer and that's what they are there for.

What an incredible, insightful, well researched and well presented video. I appreciate the detailed explanations… it definitely makes me want to learn more about the history and core beliefs of the Buddhist faith, and I'm looking forward to replaying FFX with these concepts in mind, a new take on an old favorite. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this video!

This is such an insightful, beautiful summary of FFX. I learned so much and found so much more in appreciation for the culture and teachings of this game, with its own real-world inspirations, and found such enlightenment in these Buddhist religions as well. Thank-you.

This video is really informative, and a good jumping board really
I've been looking into and interested in getting more into Buddhism but it's surprisingly hard
to actually make a substantial connection with it if you don't have anyone you know who is already.
There's no Buddhism practicing temples or anything like that nearby and from what i've seen so far
having an open dialogue seems to be an important factor. While at the same time not trying to
fall into some cult bullshit or something either.

I would recommend looking into textbooks. I'm close to a big college town and the local used bookstores go through a lot of Buddhist texts around the end of the semester, and that's where I got my start. You can also check out sacred-texts.com, they have a lot of resources.

Theravada and Mahayana aren’t really that different from each other. Nearly every concept found in the Mahayana can be found in Pali literature, except perhaps the doctrine of pure lands outside of the Sahā world. The Mahayana is a further development with emphasis placed on the bodhisattva path, while Theravada believers follow the śrāvaka path to become an arhat. But the Mahayana Lotus Sutra makes it clear that these are all a single vehicle taught by the Buddha to address others’ immediate needs.
A note about Maten 魔天: Mara is understood as being a class of deva and is of especially high rank in the heavenly worlds. While Christians believe the devil resides in hell, Buddhists see the devil as a god who has great influence over the realm of desire, and is an inhabitant of the highest heaven of this sphere.

I don't think summoners summoned sin as a weapon which then destroyed them because they couldn't control it.
It's much more likely that Sin was summoned as the final solution to a losing war. The people sacrificed themselves to become the fayth that powers Sin and also powers dream Zanarkand. That's why dream Zanarkand exists in the first place. If Sin just killed them all then there would be no dream Zanarkand. It's also why Tidus dies when Sin dies. Because dream Zanarkand and Sin are directly connected through the same power source.
Yunalesca created the religion of Yevon to trick people into destroying Sins outer shell so that it could be reborn again before it decays over time (my speculation). If Sin dies then so does dream Zanarkand. So, Yunalesca was keeping dream Zanarkand alive through the false hope that Yevon provided. Even though the higher ups in the religion knew that Sin couldn't be defeated and that the whole religion was a lie. I don't think they even knew that Sin was being replenished through the sacrifices of the summoners.

    • @HakuYuki001
      @HakuYuki001 24 дні тому

We know that the power of the final summoning comes from the sacrifice of a willing participant that the summoner holds dear. So, if Yu Yevon is the summoner, and the lives of the people is what he holds dear, and the people are willing, then Sin is essentially a final summoning times a million or more.

      1. Be prepared for a long game. JRPGs are like that in general, but this can easily run you 70hrs or so, 130hrs+ if you're trying to get everything.
      2. Stats and abilities are tied to the Sphere Grid. Be sure to frequent it, and fill empty slots with stat spheres that make sense (Strength and Magic in particular for the appropriate characters). Also, grinding is not necessary, but don't be afraid to do it if progression comes to a halt from strong enemies.
      3. There are a couple of 'missable' items. Look up the GameFAQs guide for them. Of particular, if you're playing the HD/Remaster, you'll want to get the stuff under section 5.0: Besaid and Macalania DSTs, Energy Blast, and Sun Crest. Additionally, the Al Bhed primer section is worth checking out. It's not necessary, but does make reading the foreign language in the game easier.
Also: Have fun! FFX is amazing :)
