Barotrauma is what kills fish caught at depth. Needles, reviving them, swimming them, holding them a certain way will not save them. They will swim down 10 feet at most and within a few minutes, after you’ve driven out of sight, they will pop back up and die or be snatched up by a big old Bald Eagle. 99.9% of the time.
Using a descending device has been proven effective over 90% of the time it’s used. That’s a HUGE difference. It doesn’t have to be the one I use but I think it’s the best out there. Using one to release your catch can be done in 2 minutes or less.
Eagles used to start following me the minute I launched my boat. I catch a lot of fish and I hate it when I see one floating on top knowing it would just die. Ever since I started using the Seaqualizer descending device the Eagles have stopped following me altogether. I don’t see them coming down and snatching up the big brown I just released … EVER. That’s all the proof I need to know it works. When I first started using it I tagged 50 fish. The tag had my phone number and email. To date I’ve received 28 messages from people that caught one of my tagged fish. That’s over 50%. Extrapolating out for natural mortality, not being caught again and someone not contacting me for some reason, I think 90% survival or more is pretty accurate.
Start releasing fish the right way. Don’t bother leaving any comments saying your way works just fine. It doesn’t. Get a descending device.
