"Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn)" is a folk-rock song written by Bob Dylan and first recorded during The Basement Tapes sessions in 1967. The song was recorded in December 1967 and first released in January 1968 as "Mighty Quinn" by the British band Manfred Mann and became a great success. It has been recorded by a number of performers, often under the "Mighty Quinn" title.
Dylan first recorded the song in 1967 during the Basement Tapes sessions, but did not release a version for another three years. Meanwhile, the song was picked up and recorded in December 1967 by the British band Manfred Mann, who released it in early 1968 under the title "Mighty Quinn". The Manfred Mann version reached #1 in the UK Singles Chart for the week of 14 February 1968, and remained there the following week. It also charted on the American Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #10, and reached #4 in Cash Box.

You can tell...it's cold in Britain.

Footage taken from 22nd March 1968 edition of the Dutch pop show, Moeef Ga Ga, The dancers are a British dance troupe called The Beat Girls.
WOW! I was very young when "Quinn the Eskimo" came out. I remember my older brother played it on his 45 record player. 😂 I loved it thand I still love it in '2024' Thank you for the information! I wish our youth of today would listen to these amazing classics. Maybe they would learn to appreciate these songs like us who grew up with them. Even though I was a little girl songs like this stayed in my mind and heart. What an amazing time I had growing up in a more peaceful, fun, safer time. People were more kinder to each other even though a war was on our minds. To our vets, thank you to those who came back RIP to those who perished. You will not be forgotten!
Watching the dancers I now realise why my mother always had back trouble when she was older if she danced like that in the sixties. 😜🕺🏻

Penned by Bob Dylan! I didn't know that! Great job, Sammy! Love the video seamlessly married with the HQ audio from Eric Records!
Yes that was a surprise, Bob. Thanks for stopping by to enjoy this British Rock classic! Cheers.
Great song and production ! Thanks for the great London music and memories.
@@CanadaAstro thank you.
Perfect matching of the stereo mix to HQ video Sammy.
Thanks very much Jacob.
Poor Manfred looks cold.
This filmed in Amsterdam. These houses were demolished for the new metro.
New construction, no metro there, but the story is related; "The Jokinen Plan comprises two reports, drawn up by the American traffic expert David A. Jokinen, on the urban planning of two Dutch cities: for The Hague in 1962, and for Amsterdam in 1967, both set out in a brochure." Source: wiki
NB the yanks wanted to destroy the whole old city of Amsterdam, but they faced strong resistance. The story is a little more complicated than that, though it was the main "theme" behind the "new construction plans".
Great job for a great song with a powerful arrangement. My friends and I grew up loving this song but seeing the video I'm relieved we didn't see it since it would have affected our enjoyment, no offense to them but true.
i have the scopiotone music video
Ok.. severely choreographically challenged dancers here....
The Mighty Shaman! Free the J6 Prisoners!
The dancers must have trained at the Elaine Benes School of Dance.
