    Hi Junice, when I travel, after going to the obvious iconic places, I just walk around without a plan and without looking at the maps on my phone, I just walk to the direction where I feel like😅. I think sometimes stumbling on the unexpected are one of the highlights of a trip, so sort of how you do it.

I'm similar to you when travelling though with a loose idea of a few things I want to see/do but a lot of wandering and eating and people watching and chatting to whoever and finding interesting things ... In hot climates I never plan too much 😉

Things happen so we just go with the flow. I love the Singapore Flyer, fave thing to do in SG! 😊 When we went to the Gardens, it wasn’t too crowded. Hi Janice, have been to Singapore several time, 4 times to the domes and I have never seen it that busy. Both domes are lovely and a great escape from the heat. Underneath Marina Bay Sands is a shopping centre with a great food hall and somewhere in the centre is Din Tai Fung restaurant also to be found in Sydney. Love the stuffed chillies which they dont offer in Sydney.

    I would have a list of places to visit, but no strict schedule on when to go there. A lot of my travel time is just unscheduled wandering, just go where the vibe takes me, hop off on a random MRT stop and walk around etc.
    I went to the Flower Dome pretty late, so it wasn't that crowded. I don't think it was a weekend either. What day of the week did you go btw? I went to the Cloud Forest pretty late as well. Got some really nice pics of the supertrees and MBS from inside at dusk. Going up on the supertrees walkway offered great views as well.

    I've transited SIN airport 4 times, and every time I find something new in that place. Headed back this September for the F1 race, and my first time out of the airport 🤷‍♂ IMO, if one is traveling for leisure, then don't try to plan any more than necessary. Especially in the first couple days as the freedom to just relax and de-stress for a bit to start will make everything else so much more enjoyable. If there are things you just have to go and experience, plan to start on the second day after arrival; and don't put more that 2 or 3 things on the schedule for any single day. Trying to hit rigid schedules and do a dozen things a day leaves most people feeling like they left one job to start another. If you haven't left yet, when you do, hit up Batcha coffee and tea in the airport on your way out. I thought the orange tins making up the wall were just for show, they are actually all full of whole bean coffee. They have some Cuban coffee that is the best I have ever had. ☕😎👍

    I'm a local Singaporean and I have a couple of suggestions for you to try if you have more days to do stuff in Singapore with...
    1 - Try Malay and Indian breakfast foods.. Such as "NASI LEMAK" (for Malay) and "ROTI PRATA" (for Indian).
    2 - Hokkien Mee - a lot of people I know (including myself) would say that amount of chilli you got for the Hokkien Mee in the video, is WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY too little. I personally would get like maybe 3 or 4 more of those serving sizes, and dunk them all onto the noodles and give it a good mix/toss before eating. Oh yes, don't forget the squeeze the lime too 😂
    3 - I don't know if you've had it yet/before, but try to look for "LAKSA".... if you prefer a milder version, look for a store-chain/franchise called "KATONG LAKSA"... where they deliberately cut the noodles short so you can eat the whole thing with just a spoon, no chopsticks needed. Otherwise you should be able to find "Laksa" at many hawker centre stalls that sell various forms of noodles.
    ps - watch out for laksa splashes when you can't slurp the noodles fast enough! 😂Don't wear light coloured clothing....the laksa sauce splashes show up really well with light-coloured clothing...

    • @JaniceFung
      @JaniceFung  Рік тому

      Love the suggestions, thank you so much!
      Also.. you mix 3-4 more of those chilli sauces into your noodles?! Like the same size plate that I had ?? 🥵🔥

    • @foxtwo
      @foxtwo Рік тому

      @@JaniceFung LOL yeah, that one single dipping plate of chilli looks too miserable. At minimum I would get 2 of those, or if the chilli is self-served at the stall (many stalls do this), just whack a big dallop of the chilli straight onto the noodles. Of course, this is personal preference, some people would prefer more, me personally I'm more of a "mid-range" kinda guy, so 3 to 4 dipping-plate-size would be about right (for me). I like to see the whole plate of noodles looking ever-so-slightly orangey (from the chilli) before digging in 😂😂
      And yes, I've eaten Hokkien Mee with, and without chilli before (to see the difference). I decided that it is much better with chilli. The "Katong Laksa" that I suggested above, tastes good both with and without chilli (different taste, but both are still delicious). The quirk here is we tend to ask for a sizeable portion of "hum"... which is cockles. "Hum" is the Hokkien word for it. Of course there are people who don't like cockles and would ask for Laksa without any. There's always a debate going on about Laksa and hums 🤣, much like the one in the West about Pizza with or without pineapples...

    • @simplyme3306
      @simplyme3306 11 місяців тому

      @@JaniceFung haha as a chili lover yes I would say the chili you had for the chicken rice is too little too. Usually I'll have like 3 plates of the chili for a single serving.
