  • White fry cabbage with dhal and rotis was and still is almost a weekly staple in the Luckan household for week day supper. And if there were extras left over then it could be sent as roti wraps for lunch later in the week. This dish is also one that gets cooked for many prayer functions and goes well when combined with other vegetarian dishes such as pumpkin and herbs.
    Ingredients:
1 small head of cabbage sliced
    1/2 cup oil
    3 dried chillies
    1/2 tsp mustard seeds
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp brown sugar
Served hot with dhal and fresh roti and a small spoon of chillie pickle for that nice kick!

Thanks for your simple recipe of white cabbage. I’ll definitely use your method in the future and a big thanks for the special tip with brown sugar to bring out the colour.
It looks like a real comfort meal with the dhal. I have to watch your dhal video. Bless you and your hands that cook these delicious meals 🙏🌹🙏

Please can you add sour herbs dhal to your list of videos to make.
I would like to see your version.
I miss my granny and her cooking. I'm so far away from home, living in New Zealand. I would like to eat sour herbs dhal, going 7 years since I last ate it.
    Thank you in advance.
I really admire your videos, you have a huge fan here. My kids, friends and I enjoy watching.
    Stay blessed Aunty.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes we will try to make a video of it in the future. Unfortunately it depends on getting the herbs (moringa) which we can get when we next go down to Durban.
