Just a picture of thousands of towns in the US in the same shape. As a kid we were fascinated by old west “ ghost” towns. Now we have the newer and more numerous variety for future generations to see - if there is a future for newer generations
Probably the results of outsourcing to a foreign country lot of Detroit looks like this too. We were once a bustling country before we decided we needed cheap TVs. We're all guilty. I don't know if we can ever get it back
I started my postal career in Campbell. Delivered every route in the city before moving on for bigger offices/ hours. Love to that city forever. Thanks for this.
Your videos are wonderful. Thank you SO much for not narrating like so many others. Your videos alone is poignant enough. You truly capture the atmosphere of these towns.
No surprise here. The town was built around a steel mill that went out of business in the 70's. The towns population has been in a steady decline since the closing of the mill.
I wrote a little bit about it in the description but basically the steel mills shut down and people lost their jobs. Then this place basically became what it is today as a result of the local economy collapsing, leaving it in ruins.
Corporate America abandoned this town. Who ever could leave, left. The teens, preteens, and young twenty-somethings among those left behind got bored from literally nothing to do and started tearing things up.
Interesting video. So much potential for those who want to buy a home. There is a housing crisis in US but all this land and dwellings went to fallow. Sad, really.
I grew up at the bottom of Campbell Hill. I always envied those that lived at the top where the nicer homes were! And now to see this? Breaks my heart! They state should either level and clean up the urban blight so nature can do its thing and become park-like, or bring in gentrification and rebuild what is salvageble. It is so shameful and probably dangerous to leave things that way.
So sad! These home should be fixed up for ppl who need homes! I am tired of news outlets saying it is a shortage of homes but look! It is abandoned houses in every state and city! Instead of building new card houses they can fix up the houses that exist! Just wasteful! US should be ashamed of themselves! I better never come in millions it will be on and popping! I would buy up all the abandoned houses and fix them up!
The only problem with fixing up the houses is the cost and availability of materials and the cost of fuel for those who might have to commute further to work especially if there is not a viable mass transit system. After having built on to an existing house and then fixing the older house it cost more money when rehabbing the older house with replacing rotted and termite damage wood, rotted floors, outdated electrical service, replacing old windows that were rotted with more efficient windows, and putting in a new furnace. Agree it is a waste but many of these homes might be to far gone and cost too much to rehab to make them viable.
The people in these towns (thousands of such towns) were never in control and were at the mercy of the large industry’s that sustained them. Once industry’s left in search of bigger profits, all these towns were left to fend for themselves amongst the ruins. And so here we still are.
We go to the Campbell flea market because we live real close to there...very nice people. It's too bad it got abandoned...that's what happens when a huge company closes.
This apartment complex was seen on a Ghost hunters show I think it was Paranormal Nightmare on you-tube. There 3 brothers that Ghost hunt and they tell a whole story about this place and how it was built for the workers of a Mill. Very Haunted !.
I lived here from 1975-1987. President Regan visited the steel mill there and a little while later shut J&L Steel down. Cheaper to buy Japanese steel was the excuse they gave everyone when they went to work that morning and found the gates chained and padlocked. They were told to just go home, the mill is closed permanently. Thousands of people out of a job all on the same day. After that everyone who was lucky enough to sell their house got out. And this is what is left here today. So sad. I loved growing up here.
In the 1990s, I read two economists who stated American standard of living was way out of sync with the rest of the world and we couldn't compete. Solution was much higher productivity or lower standard of living. We did neither. Instead we charged ever more ie held our standard of living with credit cards.
How is it possible that people still live in these ruins ?..If someone is fixing this place up they have a monumental task ahead of them..Doesn't seem possible
There is a most simple economy theory that explains all that . It is called TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER THEORY . It states that no matter what you do , sunner or later someone will do it cheeper or better than you .
How is it haunted if the steel mill died then the town people moved that would mean this town has a bad past history before the mills or after it shut down wish to know what makes this place haunted.
Just to be clear this video says “worst parts” we have definitely all three classes of wealth in this city, that being said I live a block away from most of this, and a block away from us is 3-5 millionaires believe it or not and prob could ramble off a few more in the city, of which I’m not. But it’s a cool town, best people hands down top to bottom, hope never have to leave we got potential.
All these places could lived in they were homes, this is sad it should not be a large amount of homelessness but as landlords and owners get super greedy, like people only pay rents, they forget there are untilites and food and household items to help maontain just living in these places,so sad.
I can't understand why all those houses were abandoned. Yes, If a major employer closes, people move or are forced to move, but there is a financial investment tied up in those properties. If you move, or face eviction, you try and recoup something by selling your property, not just closing the door and walking away.I must be missing something here.
Years ago I dated someone from there. If I remember correctly a lot of people were being forced to leave because they were supposed to build something else.
I live in Campbell and I can tell you exactly what the hell happened, Campbell died when the Steel Mills died.
Me too, and your right.
I remember when LTV Steel shut down in Cleveland. I lived there from 97 - 2002 😞 It was devistating
Sad.
Absolutely infuriating!😡
Same with Cleveland
Just a picture of thousands of towns in the US in the same shape. As a kid we were fascinated by old west “ ghost” towns. Now we have the newer and more numerous variety for future generations to see - if there is a future for newer generations
Some of those houses look like they were pretty damn nice once. Reminds me of parts of Akron and Canton
I live in canton. I was just thinking that. Canton use to be much nicer also
Yes!

Do you know the location or history of the property at 5:30? This house got a crazy energy through the screen
Your videos are wonderful. Thank you SO much for not narrating like so many others. Your videos alone is poignant enough. You truly capture the atmosphere of these towns.
Thanks so much! Im truly glad you enjoy them and thanks for watching!
lol, I said opp ;) I think it's because I am not from that area.
I was born and raised in Columbus and never heard of Campbell. It’s a shame what happened to this city.
Is a suburb of Youngstown,it's main employer was US steel.
Borm in Cincinnati and never heard of it either.
No surprise here. The town was built around a steel mill that went out of business in the 70's. The towns population has been in a steady decline since the closing of the mill.
Looks like a mini-Detroit-these houses have been abandoned for a LONG time! Where did all the people go to?

I love seeing how people live (or used to). Anytime I drive and see something interesting, have to check out places like this. From Sydney, Australia

I am glad I got out of there 30 years ago.
There is always a corner bar none the less! So very sad to see this decay everywhere.
So sad! These home should be fixed up for ppl who need homes! I am tired of news outlets saying it is a shortage of homes but look! It is abandoned houses in every state and city! Grab a hammer and get busy
So extremely sad when towns like this go belly up

I've lived in the Cleveland Akron area my entire 60 years. I didn't know Campbell Ohio even existed.
Me too
I'm from Cincinnati and I know about Campbell, it's a suburb of Youngstown and Warren Ohio is bad too
Me too lol
my dad raised in these company houses. I called them "bomb shelters". So tiny.
good place for Zombie-Movies !! hehe
Apparently Pepsi is well liked in this community. 😀.
Well, when they give you the sign for free...

@Scott Pierce: Yes, I remember that episode.
This poor town folded up basically due to lack of jobs. It is a nice place, though.
5:30 anybody know any history on this property or the address?
I lived here from 1975-1987. President Regan visited the steel mill there and a little while later shut J&L Steel down. very sad as looked like a nice small town.😢
what is the population of Campbell at this time? it looks like there is some new construction in there but who is living there.
I work with an investor in campbell and buy and fix homes to help better the area. when was this taken?
I'm also from Ohio cool video
Is this the place with the concrete houses?
your thumbnail is my neighborhood i grew up in...how crazy is that
Wow I've never heard of cambell and I live in Cleveland
This is bad. I've never been there before. Born in Clarksburg WV so I've seen places forgotten by time but jeez. Sorry
I was born and raised in Ohio and never heard of it either.

What street?
My hometown. I grew up right in the Kirwan Homes.

It is called TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER THEORY .
It states that no matter what you do , sunner or later
someone will do it cheeper or better than you .
Are people still loving there ? The cars?
There are people here and there, yes.
Yes people still and even go to school here in Campbell.
Meanwhile in California, homelessness is a norm.
you think its not in ohio or the midwest
I live in Cleveland I never even heard of Campbell
This looks like an erie resemblance to Helltown, ohio, but abandoned for different reasons.
Man the graphics on that new Fallout game is amazing
Abandoned people, abandoned homes, all is scattered like dust in the wind.
How is it haunted if the steel mill died then the town people moved that would mean this town has a bad past history before the mills or after it shut down wish to know what makes this place haunted.
About 4:30
The church looks ok.. seems to be generating some sort of income
Damn I thought East Cleveland was bad
Right first place I've ever seen in Ohio that gives East Cleveland a run for its money.
Too bad those weren't still livable. Campbell could buy them up and rent them out if the homes weren't so run down
People got washed away
Just to be clear this video says “worst parts” we have definitely all three classes of wealth in this city, that being said I live a block away from most of this, and a block away from us is 3-5 millionaires believe it or not and prob could ramble off a few more in the city, of which I’m not. Born and raised in Soup city😎
Interesting company-built houses here. Not beautiful, and probably never were, but interesting. Thanks for the upload.
This is gonna happen around power plants eventually...freaky
Once I made you rich enough , rich enough to forget my name
On average, a tear down demolition is $10000.

Wuow abandonada todas las casas 🏡
Where is this?
Campbell, Ohio is just slightly southeast of Youngstown Ohio near the Ohio / Pennsylvania border.

You can't sell it if nobody wants to buy it lol.
Years ago I dated someone from there. If I remember correctly a lot of people were being forced to leave because they were supposed to build something else.
Company housing is not owned by the resident. It’s rental property.
Who are you going to sell too? Nobody has jobs...everyone is leaving for the same reason.
The 13 percent that's what
I can’t believe that this is in USA
😳
Seems so lonely
Creepytown
Ghost town!
Too much problems
Omg, third world
