I'm surpriced no one has wrote a book called "Self-help Didn't Help" yet. Is a great title for a book (but for some reason I feel like there's already a Wattpad teen romance novel with a very similar title)
There is one called The Antidote: Happiness for people who cant't stand positive thinking. That is really great and witty! (though not as witty titlewise)
The problem isn't the self help books, the problem is the people who read them don't really use what they learn. they just read the book hoping they'll be magically fixed and then they go on to the next self help book hoping it will fix them just by reading.
"This author just learned to swear" is the perfect name for those types of books lol Also damn "Written in 2001" took me back. My parents had a ton of those types of books around when i was growing up idk why
2001??? "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" appeared in 1989. "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" in 1974. "Think and Grow Rich" in - not the 1950s as I thought, but ... drumroll ... 1937.
Might be interesting to create some of your own versions of those trashy murder mystery covers you see way too often? They usually have some random silhouette and a tagline that’s meant to be mysterious like “who’s next?” or something like that haha
I think she already did something similar in an older video. I remember the cover she made was a sillhouette on an open door, with stairs and a ridiculously vague title like "the thing that happened" or something
Hmm, the final cover's issue was definitely the color scheme. Perhaps a lighter shade of blue and a softer yellow instead of orange? I'm not an artist though, so these are just my opinions. 😅 But the first two covers were great! I would've definitely been suckered into buying them! 😂
Dude you’re so clever you make me laugh so much. I loved the last one the best, but I see what you mean about not liking the text spacing. My biggest issue is the rip in the paper is in the head’s cheek: I think it would be much more ~symbolically effective~ to have the rip in the brain area, like you’re tearing your hair out or something, or the self help books have blown a hole in your head.
I love your cover design videos, and I was shocked when you said you always struggle with creativity! Looking from the outside, you’re a highly creative person.
i've never read through a "self-help" book tbqh even as a kid when my parents tried to get me to, the things are a plague on this earth but at least they inspired this video
"I Didn't Do the Thing Today" (seen at 2:20) has a very millennial title, but it's actually a thoughtful book! I was pleasantly surprised by its depth, gentleness, and creativity. It seems like something I could get new value out of on a reread too.
permanently printed on stickers in books is the one of the absolute worst things to happen to modern day literature. i have the whole box set of the witcher series. who knew it was netflix now?!?!??!!!! can’t forget now 😪
When I heard in the news that in England it's 40 Celsius at the moment, I felt pity and wonder of how you survive the heat; I wish you all good luck with that heat and hope it cools down soon enough, as no-one should suffer that kind of temperature by volition. Book cover idea: historical biographies. I read them a lot and most of the times they either have the person's painting as the cover or part of their body shown (best are when they just show the neck down, like what's wrong with the face?) or some sort of tapestry where it's depicting some battle or another, even heralds are the main motif of the cover. Of course, it depends what kind of historical biography is, whether about a person, dynasty, a major battle, etc., so the covers are always most intriguing ones when put next to each other. Most of the times the colours are similar, like dark reds, blues or greens, beige and then black-grey-white gradient (especially if it has something to do with the 20th century). Or another idea: scientific books. Most of the times the covers are pretty simple, some even don't contain any cover art, just the typography is played with and bam - best seller material. Or they have some painting, drawing or lithograph or an instrument to tell the reader what it possibly could refer to (if even that).
You are very creative person and your videos are so entertaining to watch. I know sometimes we can't help but be overly critical with our work, but you're doing great, and we're here to support you always ✨💛
I used to think the major categories of self-help books were lifestyle, productivity and finance. Today I learned there's one more category specially for mental health where they gaslight actual people into thinking that the illness isn't there and that all the resistance that they feel, is their own fault. I learned swearing way long ago but I might start using it today.
This is so funny! How about you give us some ideas on how to create covers for all those shifter romances out there (involving dragons, werewolves, llamas...)?
These are all so beautiful you are so talented! Would love a video where you dive in and make your own celeb/reality star books. Aka Spencer, Joey Essex and of course the queen Gemma Collins
Genre recommendation: thriller books/mystery books that always have a building with a few lights turn on👀 (e.g. When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole)
I need some YA book cover designs lol but the bad ones with a random white girl that you know will be the "not like the other girls" main character on the cover :')
the g stands for thank GOD you're back bcs i've been kinda 'itsdivya' content deprived for how many days now and GOOD GOD you're so GORGEOUS and GLOWING!!!!!
who moved my cheeeeeeese? edit: okay I finished the video and Divya your videos are so interesting and funny, I always feel like I genuinely learn something and am gifted with some extremely specific references to boot :) Hope that life feels a little less "Ben 10 Vs the Universe" soon, tho running away to dry spices in the sun does in fact sound like the move rn
ummm the fact that i would buy self help didnt help and i consume one book of this genre per year and always for free..... emmaculate. Also if you havent done this already, i dont think you did but also my memory is shit, maybe romance fantasy covers
divya's vids are like me talking to my crush a rare thing that i think about constantly, and when it comes it's short lived but it's worth it so i don't drop it
this vid is the worst design vid in all youtube that I guess you studied design in your backyard or smt. just roasting but not explaining why these covers are bad lol - maybe if you were explaining why they're bad designs by filling their meanings with design principles it was maybe okay

Yeahh. Like there are a lot of videos and blogs about it though that are interesting

@@juliasyk3121 yes, that title needs a little more work, but sounds like a good book

I really loved the version of the last cover that was in gray-scale, so maybe just the gray with orange text?
Off topic but your hair looks so cute in this video!

I learned swearing way long ago but I might start using it today.
I could visualise all these covers on shelves
If you can read in Spanish I recommend you "Vive con propósito" by Noah J. Brown. It's a classic and great book of self-help. It a top ten.
You made me question my self-help book cover... hm....
Brilliant! And in this heat as well!
Maybe look at historical non-fiction/popular history book covers next?

This is so funny! How about you give us some ideas on how to create covers for all those shifter romances out there (involving dragons, werewolves, llamas...)?
You should design a self help book like a ya fantasy novel
your makeup is GORGEOUS!!! 😍
written in 2001 is such an accurate title !!!
I really loved the last cover, although maybe different colouring would've worked better. Also, you look stunning!
