Elton John has been a lifelong fan of Watford FC. He became director and chairman in 1976 and within eight years, the club was in the FA Cup Final. He sold the club in the late 80s to concentrate on his then-failing personal life. He rebought it in 1997, stepped down again in 2002, but is still a stakeholder.
@@drvillainghosttalker he basically built the club they'd always been a lower keage club until his funding to the squad and ground enabled them to finish 2nd in their first ever top flight season
Good choice for number 1 😊 I’m an Albion fan and I love the traditional look of the stadium. Legend has it the name The Hawthorns was a nickname due to the ground being full of hawthorn bushes before it was built and the name stuck
I am a 51 year old Albion fan too and although I love the Hawthornes I still say it's too small. The Halfords lane stand is tiny and it should have another tier added. Yes I understand that due to the main road we are limited to space. However it's not impossible for it to be extended especially with modern engineering. Another option would be to extend both corners that are either side to the Main stand. Preferably I'd love to see both of my ideas come to be a reality. But I have to say that I wouldn't ever want to leave the Hawthornes for a new ground.
Love these videos and the commentary always makes me laugh 🤣. Interesting adding the Liver building at the end, maybe a nod to EFC who have offices in the building and how they look destined to be relegated to the championship 👍😉
Thanks for the video. Some interesting rankings! The away stand at Blackpool is absolutely disgusting. Lack of turnstiles and toilets. The sea guls love it though.
Great stuff, it's interesting to note, that practically every team in the Championship, has played in the top-tier, English Premiership League (EPL) within the last decade or so, but the fans, they still love their club, whether they are in the EPL or not, sometimes taking longer than expected to climb back to the "first grade", with teams like Leeds United having been successful for a while, then dropping, and a decade and a half later, clawing their way back, THIS IS FOOTBALL, THIS IS "COMPETITION", THIS IS A "CONTEST", THIS IS SPORT, of course, so long they are playing "genuinely", and not play-acting.
Pretty good order but Kenilworth Road should be higher, not only is it a really unique stadium but your commentary on that one was great so you set a really high standard that was always going to be hard to top right off the bat. I think the Huddersfield one should be near the bottom along with St. Andrew's, hard to argue with the rest of your rankings otherwise.
Nice to see Rotherham at no6. Lovely little ground and fantastic atmosphere but I would personally have put Sunderland much higher, again lovely ground and great atmosphere.
Thinking a bit about what other rankings are out there ‘Wide’ , What about events you would like to see in what stadium For example The Old Firm and the Old Farm games- swap the venues round but don’t tell the fans 🤔 An MLB game at the MCG and using all the field size imagine needing to hit 575 feet for a hr The State of Origin games in the UK naturally the Blues would play at Cardiff Arms Park and the Maroons would play their game in England as up until recently we were a Queensland ! An NBA game at Arthur Ashe ? The Calcutta cup game in Eden Gardens Calcutta obs! The South Sydney Rabbitohs v The Sydney Roosters in Madison Square Garden seconds out round 1 🤕 🥊 Just a few to get you started
didn't expect the Coventry stadium to get too high but i think it should be noted that Wasps Rugby ni longer owns the ground. it is now owned by of all people Mike Ashley.
TBH having watched matches at the DW I can say its quite poor for a "modern" stadium. The concourses are way to sterile and cramped. the bars are to small and understaffed. The bowl feels very much a just do it thing. For both football and rugby it feels very lacking in atmosphere. The away end is one of the largest in the league at a full capacity of 5,400. You can really see where the newest stand at Deepdale PNE was ment to be bigger than it ended up being with the roof trusses and the side stantions. Could easy have been a 25-28k Stadium all in.
supprised bloomfield rd was so high once the expansion is done in 24 might be higher, he didnt notice the hotel either or the stand named after a legend

Been to nearly half these grounds and I'd definitely have Bramall Lane in the top 3, possibly even number 1. Also think you've been VERY generous to St Andrew's

7:30 Wasn't this club that their owners wanted to do a full rebrand? They wanted to change the team colour from blue to red, and the animal on the crest from a bird to a dragon. The fans hated it and they brought it back as it was.
That’s right, the Malaysian owner saw red as good luck as well as the dragon hence the “reason” for the change so for 2 and a half seasons they was playing in red under the rebrand. Cardiff fans protested ever since when eventually the owner sat down with the supporters club and others which resulted in Cardiff going back to blue and the following season had the club badge changed. First game home game back after the decision was made to go back to blue was a win against Fulham
Luton stadium shouldn`t be ranked last. It has charm and his own identity. Some stadiums look boring, like the one in Middlesbrough. A modern cookie cutter stadium like many other....
The John Smith’s Stadium gets its name from a brand of beer. Strip away the sponsor and it would be called the Kirklees Stadium. For that one reason alone, the naming rights should be given away for free if required.
As a Huddersfield fan I'll be looking forward to see how high you'll be rating our stadium in league 1 next season 🫤 It's a shame you didn't use the more up to date pictures where the red seating is replaced by white with the blue astro turf edging around the pitch.
