when I first saw "are you being served?" I was clinically depressed in high school, & missed half my 9th grade yr bc of that. i would watch this show on PBS every night, & this was the ONLY thing that brought something close to a smile on my face, & eventually laughter followed. I was so fascinated by Mrs. Slocombe's different colored hair. To this day, I am thinking for this show helping to pull me out of the dark depths of depression. I continue to love this show to this day.
I used to dress the sets for this show back in the early 70s. I worked on the pilot and the first 2 series. The show was based on Simpson's of Piccadilly department store. One of the writers had worked at the department store. I worked as a window dresser at Simpson's. We were approached to dress the set because they wanted the set to look authentic.
In 1985,it was shown on state TV doordarshan india, it was instant hit with all of us, in fact, I used to address my bank manager as capt peacock, bcuz he used to adore this pure british sitcom. Thanks for uploading these gems, with love from India🇮🇳.
I worked in retail (Sears) for 35 yrs and discovered "Are you being served" in the mid 80's. I can't tell how many times I have watched every episode lol 😂 😆 Although we didn't do the things they do in this show I can relate to all they do and say. I was also fortunate enough to actually meet John Inman in person in Virginia Beach, VA when he did a book signing. He signed my copy of the "Are you being Served" book and I treasure it to this day.
Gentle ribbing subtle innuendo… I miss the good old days when folks could make a joke without being cruel and other folks could take a joke in good humour. 😂
So many awesome things about this show, and I never get tired of hearing Mr Humphries answer MEN'S WEAR. As with anything in life some episodes are better than others, and this one is a perfect ten

I love the way Rumbolde makes his own stories with his misunderstandings.

Hahaha "Captain Peacock, I don't respond to any man's finger." Too funny. Makes me laugh every time. 🤣😂🤣😂
John Inman was a good actor and I miss him🙏❤️
Mr Humphries is going to dinner with no pants on !
So sad that they can't make series of this quality any more
The quality of the script writers and actors is extremely high. After 50 years it's still current. Time stood still with this sitcome.
This is when TV was entertaining and fun to watch. 1,000 X's better than today's 🐂💩. Sad their all gone.
I love this show so much. I even bought it on DVD... One of the best shows ever made. Mr. HUMPHRIES IS MY FAVORITE. ❤💯🙏🏼🤣🤣🤩
I love the cockney accent of Mr. Harmon and his sarcasm

HA...Mr. Rumbold's misunderstanding of basically everything is so hilarious to me. The others look at him like he's lost his mind... LMAO!
This show was Brilliant ! Afraid we shall not see one like it again .
The ending made me laugh out loud. Mr. Humphrey's was hilarious parading around in that fur coat and competing with Mrs. Sloucum for the commission.
Love the end credits with the characters looking into the camera, brilliant. 😀
I still laugh at the entire cast and I'm happy to find them on u tube
