    It says that Filipinos never considered our ways a martial art. It seems that our forefathers never intended to be in anyway of fight but is willing to fight to survive. I love that principle. Simple yet effective. Salute to ancient Filipino Cultural Fighting Art 🇵🇭🔥💖

      Yes! Our fighting arts were developed to protect the family against oppressors. Not a sport or martial arts, this is combat. We survived by the blade.🗡♥

    This is how a real martial arts must be taught to any styles of forms. Actual hitting!! FMA is a realistic Survival Martial arts!! 2 thumbs up.

    First of all, let me preface by saying that I am an admirer of FMA. However, the sparring sessions (as shown in the video) also confirmed my suspicions about the applicability of the FMA training. When it comes to weapons, the shear damage that they can impose necessitates the "strike first, second, and third" mentality, so the more aggressive you are, the more likely that you'll survive because you impose more injuries on the other party. The strikes are so fierce, fast, and numerous, it makes it exceedingly difficult to counter. The only sensible response is to evade, and that was also shown to be very difficult to execute...
    And those batons are hard! And they were whacking each other with full force too...

      You have very good points, all of them. I would say this, keep in perspective the gross motor skill techniques and the fine ones. You need to know them all but what you expect to see and do against another FMA fighter is different than someone who isn’t familiar. And you can’t expect to do any of the fine motor skills techniques in sparring sessions unfortunately. Being able to pull any of the complex ones off in reality requires super training and awareness.

      If you look closely those are rattan sticks for sparring. The interior of which looks like straws that give and flex on impact.
      That being said sparring sticks are lighter otherwise broken bones would be prevalent especially any power strikes to the head risking life long damage or death. not many will join your organization.
      Regardless of stick type they represent bolo/blade.

      this is just sparring, though

    • @chrisscottdoes
      @chrisscottdoes 4 роки тому +4

      Actually during the sparring they were not sticking to the principle of not getting hit. The sticks represent edged weapons. If you get hit, you are either injured or dead, probably with mutual destruction. The females showed better technique.

      The biggest issue with Arnis sparring is the lack of feedback.
      The weakest parts of the human body vulnerable to the rattan stick is protected. The head and the hands (fangs). You whack those with incredible force and speed and get zero effect on your opponent. What follows next is just a pillow fight where you try anything under the sun. Imagine two indestructible fighters who feel no pain. Technique will no longer mean anything. Boxing is more strategic because rampaging around like a machine gun is punished by an enemy who chooses their strikes.
      What's the point of striking the head and hands when the gear make your head and hands stick proof?
      There is a solution that they haven't bothered to try. Electronics can be used such as that from fencing where the stick and the different parts of the body register virtual damage and ends or resets a fight.

    It looks like the techniques will vaporise if opponent is busier attacking you isnt it? Would that be an opportunity to disarm, throw and other bits the instructor taught how to's. Why all fights are only whacking and swinging like this without all those numbered strikes. How the training applies here to an aggressive opponent. Guess more training for few more years. Tensing to watch but haven't seen one applies a classic move at all. Overall, good fun

      You compensate by striking for dismemberment blows and mortal blows..the duels are misleading on video because there is no immediate damage...believe me the pain comes later😜....in real life either your opponent would be hacked to pieces or you would...

    The foreigners they still not use what they learned in martial arts. They're just a random normal attack. I think They have not been trained yet. So They need more training to learn the correct kali martial arts.

    Why do military need kali training? Because in real war if you used up all your ammunition who will come and help you? No one! Use your blade for an ambush and take the enemy's weapon. Only works in jungle warfare haha

    why in actual sparring every beautiful technique is throw out of the window and all we see is a poor kick boxing-fencing style of fighting-?

    • @tomask.3983
      @tomask.3983 4 місяці тому

      Agree...like, if stick fighting is what I came for...why not just fight with sticks? Those finer movements are not used at all when push comes to shove. There seems to be very little of knowledge from all the solo sessions transfered over into the actual fight.

      It’s impossible to do all that stuff with all that protection on. PTK is a blade system stick fighting is done for fun and to teach you to move but it no way represents what a fight with blades would actually be like.

    • @fishbonegaga
      @fishbonegaga 6 років тому +4

      PARR53 I'm aware of this , I'm far to be expert but i tried ptk , the basics are great . But , you have to face the truth and cannot blame the equipment . I mean , if you're a beginner in boxing or muay thai , even with full protection , you'll get your ass kicked by a world champion , or even by a random competitor. Here , i don't see a huge difference between them. Same thing about fencing , a beginner will barely touch a world champion . And if you tell me it's different because ptk is designed for war , then i would ask : why the f... is there a world championship ? No offense , I'm just practical . I enjoyed a lot training in ptk , and would train again whenever i can with a great pleasure . Greetings.

    • @PARR53
      @PARR53 6 років тому +5

      julien vandal there is no world championship in PTK brother. This is a global conference where full contact stick sparing is just part of what we do. PTK isn’t a stick fighting art. It’s just another training tool we use. I guarantee you a lot of the stuff that doesn’t look possible when someone is in the process of actually cutting you would be. You should probably put in a lot more hours under a quality instructor before you come on here comparing a blade system to a combat sport. Muay Thai and boxing as well as fencing are like apples to oranges and yes I regular teach PTK as well train in BJJ and have done other combat sports as well.

    • @fishbonegaga
      @fishbonegaga 6 років тому

      PARR53 actually i mistake video , there was another one showing , I'm quoting: a world champion kali vs beginner . My bad... but still those guys in full contact sparring are hitting and being hit same time and if it was blade they would all die... I'm a beginner in ptk , but don't blame my instructor , you have no idea who he actually is... I'm just practical , sceptical , and i don't follow blindly any art or instructor . Yes , martial arts and fight sports are different , but we need both , as traditional martial arts suck in applying technics on non cooperative partners , that's probably why you also practice bjj ...

    Most of the time I do not wsnt to kill. But the piece of crap that cut me with a knife I regret NOT killing him. I did not even know I was cut. I did not expect to get cut and did not look for a knife

    • @johnm249
      @johnm249 6 років тому

      I took a step backward scumbag slashed me. I kicked him in stomach. He is lying on ground and unable to breathe. I did not know I was cut until I walked back to my car. That is when I regretted not killing him. I grabbed my knife out of my car as I did not carry a knife until I got cut. Now I always carry a knife. I did cut him on his hand but he closed his hotel room door before I could stab him. I accept that I might have to kill someone and I should always be ready to kill an evil person. But if my attacker is not armed eith a weapon I will not kill him.

      We prefer the Top Prados Kali Fighting System. It is derived from 2Lt Manuel S Prado's 28 years of experience in the Phil Marine Corps. In addition, he forge his own blades, from ginunting, talibong, dahon palay, karambit and many more. He is also recognized as international grandmaster.
