- NOTTINGHAM FOREST FC - PETER SHILTON - SPORTS LIFE STORIES - PART ONE. England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton talks to Matt Smith about his 30-year playing career as well as his struggles with gambling and debt. With contributions from England team-mate Gary Lineker, Peter’s England goalkeeping predecessor Gordon Banks and extensive archive footage, the programme focuses on how he approached the challenges in front of him - from the ‘Hand of God’ to the moment he went insolvent, to getting 125 caps for his country and making his 1,000th league appearance.

At the height of his career, it was like having a brick wall across the goal. He was one of the reasons Forest was successful. A legend and gentleman.
الحارس بيتر شليتون من الحراس البارزين على مستوى العالم
Gordon Banks under study, you trained him well Gordon.!! = 2 great goalkeepers.
Can't say how much I admire Shilts, a true great. Such a humble man, too.
Doubt he gave Clough many problems, such a pro.
Peter Shilton one of the greats of goalkeeping .
19174975 one of the greatest cheeses also
I quite like the fact Terry Butcher and Peter Shilton still hate Maradona. They were there on the pitch, theyre both competitors. Never mind their politics after the fact, they care deeply about the shirt. Ive always respected that.
He was a very hard working goalkeeper...it is said that he was the first to enter the field of training and the very last to leave it...always did a bit more...
Unlike most of the mugs out there today, more interested in buying another Ferrari than being the world's best!😐
Unbeatable!!!!
great stuff
Amazing when you think that he played 125 times for England (while we missed the 74-77 WC finals and 72-76-84 Euros)AND Ray Clemence managed 60 odd caps....... with even a little luck he would have broken 200 caps for the country.
Poland 74, Argentina 86, Germany 90 etc .
The amount of times he made horrendous mistakes that cost England in major tournaments was unbelievable.
Another darling of our biased media they can make or break you as a player or a person.
I was a goalkeeper at school and Peter Shilton was my hero some people said Ray Clements was better not in a million years as Peter Shilton's handling was far superior
Agree, Keith, great shot stopper and good on crosses, tbf England we're blessed with keepers once, maybe that helped having a healthy competition. Would love to have seen him in a world cup final.
Shilts was pure class
Clemence was brilliant as well, but there's only one place.
@@mrcockney-nutjob3832 Perhaps you would have done, if he hadn't made glaring errors in the 1986 quarter final and the 1990 semi-final. He just wasn't good enough, as he was too old and slow by then and was being picked on past reputation. Simple as that really.
If Peter Shilton was better than ray clemence he was only slightly better than him I personally think that Shilton and clemence were equal England was lucky to have 2 brilliant goalkeepers at that time England had so many good goalkeepers at that time he Joe Corrigan Phil Parkes Paul cooper Peter bonetti
Mr.England,what a professional Shilts was.
doctorthrobber he’s a shits and a drunk driver.
One of the world's greatest 'keepers ever. I must admit (through gritted teeth, as a Scot!) that as far as goalkeepers go, it was an embarrassment of riches for England... Banks, Shilton, Clemence... not far behind were Stepney and Corrigan.
Disappointed to have lost the 1969 FA Cup Final? Yes, of course, but Manchester City were favourites. They must have realised that. Leicester were struggling to avoid relegation with 5 matches still to play. I remember the period well (April-May 1969).
lmao "giz a kiss" I forgot that was one of his things
@Kevin Murphy I bet he never said it to Justin Fashanu.
He was grt for Southampton too.
Still can't believe that he got out jumped by a 5 foot nothing Argentinian....
Absolutely no doubt ..England's 2nd greatest keeper of all time
He loved a bet
te hiciste famoso gracias al Diego # ingrato

Truly great goalkeeper !
ENGLAND'S NUMBER 1! Still is!
el gol con la mano ,$# todavía la tenes adentro
Shilton said they should have won 4 or 5 nil. Wrong. Should have won 1 nil.
Give us a kiss.... lol
Let's be honest, Shilton comes across as a boring old sod.
A boring old sod with 2 European Cup winner's medals. Urself?
@@damianbroderick3913 His personality and his medals are completely unrelated.
Steve Davis won six world snooker titles.
I rest my case.
Oh I don't know. In 1980, he ended up with a drink drive conviction after crashing his car into a lamp post. He had just been caught (literally) with his pants round his ankles with another bloke's wife, in his car down a country lane. The funniest bit is that it was the woman's husband that caught him!
Tina, Tina , Tina
REMAINER and self appointed asylum seeker and refugee spokesman talking about his home town club. I wonder how many he took into his house? ZERO!
Larry Grayson! I thought he was Brexiteer!
