carol thx I was just doing a monogram with a floral diamond style I did and wanted to put mesh under the middle where the name is.. very helpful.. I look at all of your videos many times.I spent the entire day trying to figure out why my software wouldn't open after start, and finally after 8 hours I read that you have to go to programs and hit delete recovery files from time to time as that will cause a problem with start up if you don't..so that did it for anyone else having this problem
I really enjoy your video lessons, and look forward to when you offer some pay classes. I would love to see a lesson tho on the quilting part of the software. As a quilter, I'd love to see how to design as a for instance paper pieced patterns.
Loved the video. A group of friends and I are meeting once a fortnight to work and learn about our software. We were attempting to make lace in our last meeting so your video is so well timed. Easy to follow and understand. Are there any designs in our software you might suggest we use to start with rather than making our own lace first? Thank you for making these videos. Cheers Qwuilty
I couldn't find any designs in the software that would easily work as a basis for lace. The few I found with potential would still need some editing. Why not start with a simple shape such as a diamond, heart, or circle. Work in Art Canvass or doodle on paper to create the elements within the shape and then go from there. Leaves and simple flowers are also good starting points.
+Cassy Tuttle The principal of free standing lace is to create a foundation for your design that will hold it together, i.e. replace the fabric. This can be a net base, as created in this video, but a seiries of bars like you find in cutwork designs can also work. As for the main design, there are lots of possibilities. Long satin stitches do not work particularly well, and should be divided as shown in the video, or changed to a step fill. You need to experiment, but I am sure you have lots of designs that will work.
Lovely carol so good to hear from you again on your informative videos
Thank you. I've just made my first piece of lace using your advice and it has turned out beautifully. Your advice is so clear and easy to follow.
That is great Tina.

Can you turn any design into a FSL design?
