Actually, it's no longer a rare procedure(in regards to the statement "surgical removal of the tumor is technically complex, and only preformed in rare cases") yes, i will say and agree with one thing about this statement, and it's that you mentioned in the video about how removing just the tumor is a very complex surgery, and you're very correct about that. But this video was posted 9 months ago, and ive been going through these things with family and the people i caregive for. I justthink that it should be noted that there i help out there and i feel like this does the opposite of what it should, it gives heartache, tragedy and devastation for people who are looking for options, and hope, and good solid medical information. Otherwise very good informative video👍

I have resected hundreds of intraocular melanomas and counselled thousands of patients with these tumours. These operations are indeed challenging to perform. I have not seen patients react negatively to being informed of all therapeutic options. On the contrary, the large majority of patients want to be empowered by having as much knowledge as possible so that their consent for treatment can be fully informed. Much depends on the way in which information is delivered and the emotional support that is provided at the time. I am grateful to the correspondent for taking the time to comment on our video and would be delighted to respond to any other comments or questions. Bertil E. Damato, MD, PhD, FRCOphth.
