    B-17 Bomber was an absolute favorite! This console was the first to have speech and voices in it. Using a synthesis module that you would plug into your Intellivision on the side of it.

      The keyboard and tape deck weren't really available (very rare) until the Intellivision became irrelevant as a home computer.
      It was a 16-bit processor but not graphics. The keypad overlays added so much to games like MLB Baseball, Sea Battle, Tron Deadly Discs, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, et al. That original controller was brilliant....except for those brutal side buttons!
      My second console owned, after Atari, and it made the VCS look like a joke.

    I remember the year I woke up on Christmas morning (I always woke up earlier than everyone else) and saw that Santa brought us an Intellivision. I think it came with Poker and BlackJack and had Donkey Kong included too. I played Poker a little bit, but didn't put in Donkey Kong. and then went back to bed for a while. Got up again when my brothers and sister woke up, and we all played the games in awe. Over time, we had a nice library of games going. One of my favorites was always Pitfall. It had years of enjoyment played by all of us. My Dad had a blast too.

      The software was incredibly expensive! My mom was an accountant and bought an Apple II, 48k, two disk drives, RF modulator (but also a color monitor), Peachtree software.....total was over $4000!!!

      The computer module that you see in this video was never released, and was probably a non-working prototype.

    • @freeculture
      @freeculture 3 роки тому

      @@ZagnutBar What about the Basic cartridge? Wikipedia mentions the component used a 6502, which is the same cpu of the Famicom (NES) and many 8 bit PCs of the time like the Apple II. Don't blame Mattel Electronics, Commodore did the same thing to their floppy drive lol. Its mentioned 4000 units were produced. Then the ECS came cheaper without the need for another cpu in 1983 which ended the FTC fines for the "keyboard" delay. Only 6 cartridges made use of it.
