My favorite car channels these day, Puddins Fab Shop and Mortski Repair. Roadkill was cool but quit watching when they left UA-cam. I give Derek at Vice Grip Garge props for not ditching those who helped make him for TV.
What ya gotta understand is that Derek started something and built it....Motor Trend built Roadkill series so I guess they have to cater to their advertisers
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Roadkill was also on UA-cam for 6+ years. Built a huge fan base and was getting insane views. It was a slap in the face to loyal fans to go behind the Motor Trend paywall to watch it.

Hey Josh, I got this add that pop up on my Facebook for sustainability raised beef. The company is called Crowd Cow, im not sure how ligit it is but it might be a way to sell your beef without sending them to auction!
If you take the oil fill cap off or dip stick out it will help oil run out faster
Ventrac was originally Steiner. I serviced many at a golf course. Everything from rebuilding motors to hydrastatic systems. Wait til you have to replace an axel. Major repair.😮
Sorry but I live 10 minutes from the original Steiner factory and also just as close to the Venture products factory. The Steiner family sold the Steiner business off and the Ventrac is a completely different machine , but obviously shares some similar features since the Steiner boys built them both ! Guess what ,now Venture products is owned by Toro, go figure!!

I had two beautiful bald eagles swooping on my day old calf just yesterday. The wife let our dogs out and they went away for a while. Wish you lots of luck SRF!!! Could I have the Swisher banner in your shop signed by you?

A word of advice on ramping the Ventrac. Keep the inside tires mostly on the ramps. It's better on the wheel bearings to not have all the weight of the tractor on the outside duals. It's much less weight to have the outside duals hanging over the ramps then the reverse like it was. It's a leverage Geometry thing.
You always want a majority of the weight on the inner tires for wear reasons. Might get wider ramps that aren't as long for it.
Then you said at the end to use the lift. Just so long as it's not just on the outside duals.
Belt storage suggestion keep in a dark cool location to avoid dry rot of perfect good belts
have seen even pro shop where belts hanging around the top of shop walls
not too bad for the common fast selling one s but others collect dust and dry rot
32 ounces in 1 quart. divide that by 10 gives you 3.2 ounces.
I use a paint pen and right the hours on the filters

We have black headed buzzards up here in MD that are invasive, they killed a couple of our calves last spring. Do you have tornado wire on the entire perimeter of your pasture?

1/10 of a quart is 3.2 ounces. I would just add the full 4 quarts when you change the filter.
My preference is to pour oil sideways (if that makes sense). No glugging and no accidental pouring onto the container.
No offense but Ventrac doesn't make diesel engines or engine oil. Use Rotella 5w40 or 15w40 in all your diesels and sleep well.

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I was joking at the time of posting, but you could use collars with tags or even more permanent tattoo a serial number. Just my dumb ideas. Ear tags work!
There is a cow behind my property, and whenever I go back there, I feed him a carrot. He's never even thought of charging me. I guess his food desire is greater than his excess testosterone.

Best buzzard control is the Anatolian Shepherd. I highly recommend the 3/4 Anatolian 1/4 Great Pyrenees. We have 4😁
donkey does a pretty good job too! I'm not about to get more dogs right now...makes it tough to leave the farm when folks have to come care for your pets

Yeah, buzzards / vultures are bigger than people realize. Nearly a decade ago, I was happily driving at night, when rebuilding backwards logic would say what actually happened was a vulture snacking on raccoon roadkill saw me coming, and took off just in time to let me pass. However, for a fraction of a second, I was pretty sure that I had passed thorough a time portal, and was being strafed by a Pterodactyl and my car was about to be carried away. Luckily, the vulture made a clean get away, the car was untouched, and my pants survived unsoiled. I'm not gonna lie, the pants were in the most danger in that scenario.

You need to train him where you want him to poop. Just be clear and consistent with your positive enforcement… YOU have to be attentive, so you can give him pos re-enforcement!
Are you selling them off because you aren’t set up yet to do direct to market and the herd is growing too fast? Makes sense. Hopefully this’ll be the last time you have to do that.
Any grease points how does air filter hold up in ventrac?
about 12 grease points need to be addressed every 50 hours or so...air filter holds up great...but needs to be checked every 50 also

no way to make money when buying everything at places like tractor supply. At best break evan. Would you comment. Thank you. God bless.
what would I need to buy at Tractor Supply for my cows? That's the better question.....all that goes into the cattle here is grass and hay. We typically buy in bulk for grain for chickens and pigs when we get them but it's still very pricy. I buy minerals from TSC from time to time but that's about it

I did the same as you with my cows, at least the best I could until couldn't do anymore. Hay is our biggest expense , with all involved I couldn't make a profit . God bless you and yours.

Why did you decide to sell to market rather than list them to sell to others looking to start new herds or add to their current herds?
convivence is worth it's weight in gold! Imagine selling of 20 animals to 10 different people...having 10 people ask 100 questions each, spending 1/2 hour on the phone with 10 people is 5 hours of conversation....10 different people backing to the chute on a saturday morning/afternoon. Talking another 1/2 hour while they're here. Some can't come on saturday, some can't come on friday....some can only come on tuesday. We rotate the cattle through the farm so it's not like they're on a lot and easy to round up. It's a one in every 40 days deal when I get them ran through the chute. The price i get selling to locals might be $30 more per cow....but the convenience of loading up 20 and taking them to the market is priceless. Can't spend countless hours trying to sell off 20 cows...theres way too much work to be done here

There was this large pipe and some of the 'weekend warriors' would drive thru with their ATVs...well...somebody kept pooping right in the wheel paths!

Please UA-camrs recommend a tractor. Just bought 40 acres of Wyoming, currently dry farmed. Planning to build a house. I need a tractor for building infrastructure (foundation excavation, driveway, post holes, leach field etc). Then agricultural and snow removal.
Is there a single tractor out there that can reasonably do it all? As you might expect - limited budget!
You have a consideration most don't have. Elevation will hurt many tractors performance. I would suggest one with a turbo on it. Talk to neighbors and dealers about it. I would suggest a kioti DK series with cab. A ck would work and may be better long term ( small property) but you will want the extra weight and power for digging/ leveling during construction.
you need to rent the machines for your building projects and find yourself a 55-100hp tractor with a loader on it. Rent what you need for big jobs, buy a tractor to maintain your driveways and snow removal. A farm tractor is not best suited for earth moving jobs....rent a skid loader or mini ex to get these earth moving jobs done...especially on a budget. I have a post hole digger, paid $800 for it...used it 3 times!! It sits gathering rust! Plan your fence, build it and rent the equipment

my friend...you don't think I can "afford" the cattle or was that video about making the choices to stop buying so much feed and sell off unnecessary animals to recoup cattle expenses? The eventual end of every cow on any farm is leaving the farm...either freezer camp or sold to make room for more. Ya don't keep every animal....the cattle are a product of the farm....they must earn as a spoke on the wheel must keep a wheel true. It's not at all about "affording" it's about the cattle business and what our land can support my friend...the farm side of my business needs to earn a profit and stand on it's own two feet. Understand a little better now?

How do you get skunk stench of a dog? Isn’t it tomato juice or something?
Skunk smell comes from an oil so tomato juice is really a myth it doesn't work the act of washing them is what deletes it. But dawn dish soap does help remove the oil and smell but you are never going to get rid of all of it.

I have heard you complain about money you have a farm it’s understandable. I also see a whole Lotta toys trying to thin that out and get you some money back in your pocket.
not really "complaining" bout money here....looking into the financials of a small farm like this is important. Equipment and "toys" here on the property pay for themselves, gotta think about this from a "farm" stand point....and a content creation standpoint my friend. Our financial discussion in the last vid was bout cows and hay consumption. More coming on this as we did take some cattle to market and netted around $17k profit! That pays for every bit of the hay for the last 2 years!! Awesome huh!

good morning, why do you ask for opinions on what to do with the cows having to go? you had many in the comments respond with good to great solutions for you. i looks like your mind was already made up, so why even ask? i watch your videoes but you are more utube than raising beef. those toys are more important to ypu. have a great day
He asks because he does take good advice when it's given. Also the comments make for more views. His UA-cam helps keep him profitable. Why would you have an issue with him subsidizing his farm with other sources of income. Small farms are not profitable for many years then once you figure out how to make a profit you have already lost a lot of money making it more efficient
Because I think it’s good to get input from all sides. It’s great to hear what others think and this is a community of people that watch the channel. Do you think I earn a living 100% off of 50 cows on 150 acres with a 3/4 of $1 million shop? I’m not trying to be rude. I’m just trying to enlighten you, I’m a man who had a dream of starting a farm and found a way to do it. I feel blessed every day to have such a loyal and such a wonderful people around me.
The farm is the set. The toys are the props. The cows are the extras. Gotta lay off some of the extras to keep the movie going and be able to buy more props -- totally understandable.
