Finally found the name of this game. I typed in so many variations. "spaceship desert game, desert flight space shooter, old pc game black ship" , etc etc so glad to find the name of the game. 👍🏼
5-6 year old me collected a lot of TURBO and died over and over. Somehow I remember the graphics being a lot better though. Funny how your mind fills in the gaps, especially as a young child.
Field of View Thumbs up. Were you also a DOS gamer in the very early 90's? I'm just a couple years older than you at most, and this game just popped into my head. So there never was a Fury 1 or 2.. lol, they just slapped '3' to make it look cool?
More or less. Fury 3 was the unofficial sequel to Terminal Velocity. Which ended up more of a re-release of Terminal Velocity, now able to run natively on Windows 95, with some small changes.
Absolutely loved this game. 4 years old in 1998 and my dad showed me how to fly with the joystiq.. its like he gave me keys to my very own fighter jet.. oh the memories...
@@AslanKyoya1776 Wow nice would of been cool if it had pvp back in the day or something. I think we still have the joystick and CD for the game lying around somewhere and even an old PC that could still play it but its probably under a huge pile of junk and dust.
Wow. This brings me back. I wanted to get the full version of this but my parents said no as the computer was meant for school and not for games. I was 10 years old back in 1996.
andymate2006 same age as me. I also played this back then. I used to go to the library and take out the demo/shareware games. Ah the memories. Kids are so lucky today.
Got the demo from a CD of a video game mag and played a couple of times though it. As I was already 16, I was allowed to buy the full version eventually and damn, what a great game it was! What impressed me most was the sick soundtrack and the turbo :D After beating the game I had like 6000 turbo left and just fly around close to mountain. Looked stunning on my 15" screen :D
Having this in Win98 by default was such a smart move. My parents didn't have money for games, nor I knew how to install them. So, it was great, I enjoyed every minute of it.
The most powerful memory i got from this is the god damn red tunnel, it was pretty hard for a child with no understanding of english to follow the instructions.
I remember back in the day I borrowed a copy of this from the library, the cool thing was that once I installed the game, it stayed on my pc and I didn't need the disk. Total childhood gaming bliss
We really need this to be re-released on GOG.com! We already have Terminal Velocity on there, so if they can acquire a license from Microsoft, we could have this and maybe several more games from Terminal Reality as well! I'd love to play Monster Truck Madness again!
Well that sucks! But seeing as how we've gotten Age Of Empires 2 and 3 and Rise Of Nations remastered for a Steam release, maybe there's a chance we can see enhanced versions of these games, if that's possible?
***** I'm currently working on a Source Port for Fury3, as I managed to get the source from TRI. I'm hoping once I'm done developing it, I can talk with Microsoft, 3D Realms, Night Dive Studios, and the remnants of TRI on resurrecting all three of the games (Terminal Velocity, Fury3, and Hellbender).
This was my introduction to PC gaming and computers in general way back in 1997 as an eight-year old. I have been in love with computers/PC gaming ever since. Computers, and the internet.....such fascinating inventions.
I was born in 1998. First video game I ever had any experience with in 2002 when I was 4 years old. Admittedly nothing like the games I like now, as I'm a fantasy RPG sort of guy (I don't even like sci-fi at all lol) but I always remember this being the game that started it all. Video games have been so a massive part of my life ever since.
I can't believe I found this game again, and I can't believe how in my mind this game had the best graphics back then. So young and innocent... enough to play the first mission over and over again because the game crashed as soon as I tried to go through the tunnel, and started all over again without caring. First time listening to boss music right now. Oh the good times.
Had this demo as a kid and was enthralled by it. Don't remember a boss but near the end flew into a tunnel and the demo would end:( my mum rang MS to get the full game for me but by then they weren't selling it anymore. Sad times really loved the demo
been looking for this for yeeears. i would tell my friend "well it like starfox but no, and your in a sand type map" love the music as a kid. i feel 7 again.
Holly cow, I was 19 years old when playing this game. I loved this game. I output the sound through my Hi-fi system which gave a whole new experience those days. One of my favourite games without a doubt.
I used to play this with my brother when I was 6 years old! I held down the fire button and my brother flew. It was like playing twister on a keyboard..... Best, memory, ever.
I have been looking for this game for like 2 months trying to just even remember the name. Thanks for the post. I can now sleep easy cause this was driving me nuts not being able to remember the name.
Oh man I remember playing this as a kid. Actually I first watched my oldest brother play it, he wasn't that good, never even realised he could adjust the throttle. I was the first to beat the boss without using missiles and kept the top score. This is what got me into flight combat games.
I was 8 years old when played this. With no knowledge of English at all, I didn't really understand what was the objective, so here I am revisiting this to see what was all about...
man, I've been trying to remember the name of this game for years- my cousins and I would play this demo pretty religiously back in the day. thanks for posting!
Video game devs have more than well-earned their money with games like this, yet here the less fortunate are having to settle for their great yet strictly limited demos. But this demo here kicked good ass because there was no time limit and no content restrictions. It was really like playing the full game albeit just one level!
Fuck I still have this CD in a golden chest. It's the first game that shocked me like no other thing... Dude it was amazing after being used to monochromatic linear games. Evokes me back all the memories of my childhood at once. The "Raptor", the almost unplayable TIE fighter, StarWars RA... best world for a 5yo child ♥ Also there was another spaceship-alike game that I wasn't ever able to find again, still pretty much fun. Maybe some of you can give me any leads as I have a big one: it was just like X-boson game (recently released on steam) but with plane scenarios instead of circular ones. If anyone knows it, will be very much appreciated :) Hope we can save this old games to last longer than us. Maybe we can even revive some as happened to Knights and Merchants' Online fan-remake. Thanks for sharing video and greeting to everyone who lived this era as a little boy :) (and the not so _little_ ones heh)
Finally found this this after having to show it to kids. My brain definitely remembers it differently :) supposedly an Android version came out last year
I used to play this game religiously when I was a kid. If he turned around from the beginning there's a lot of weapons there. That's how much of a geek I am. It's been almost 17 years since I've played and I still remember it.
Oh... My... GOD!!! I haven't seen this game in years! One of my favorites back in the day. Why the hell haven't they made a new game in this series or at the very least made an updated version of Fury 3 that can be played on today's computers?
I remember playing this game on a PC my mom had in her classroom(1998) and i had the joy of playing this and some Monster Truck game EVERYDAY after school. Didnt wanna go home. I was so lucky 🤣🤣🤣
It's interesting how an exaggerated camera zoom covers up the fact that you're basically surrounded very closely by enemies. It conveys the illusion of traveling some distance to the next target. I think I remember playing this for a short while, but it didn't compete with the current list of other games I was playing.
This game brings back so many memories, I used to play this all the time as a kid. There was another game & I can't remember it, it was a 2d sidescroller and you played as a robot that looked a little like R2D2.
That opening music brought me back. Ares had one of the hardest last things to kill for me. Then, after all that gameplay you get a "you've defended the coalition, thanks counsler." Like wtf??
You speak from my heart :) It doesnt matter if an RPG starts off slow and guides you the first steps. But then there has to be this moment where everything opens up and you can just go wherever you want and do what ever you want but still have a main goal that you can come back to. At least thats my favorite part of RPGs. There are still those games though. Skyrim for example. FinalFantasy sadly isnt what it used to be anymore...
Some kid in my class in 4th grade (1999) played this on the homeroom computer often. We were given tickets whenever we did a Good Thing during class, and he saved his up just to spend it on 30 minutes of computer time and play this. Anyway, he'd obsess about the giant-ass cobra at the end. The other kids and I would hover around his chair waiting to see if he could beat the cobra. I don't remember if he did or not, but I still remember the game.
Men! What a fucking nostalgia! I remember playing this game with my dad when I was about 5 or 6. It must be my first videogame, this or Mario Bros. But can't believe I watch it again after all these years! It was really hard to find this game again. I was starting to think that it was not real XD

Technically Fury3 was a "spiritual successor" to Terminal Velocity, while Hellbender was an actual sequel to Fury3.
There is a place in this game where you go down a tunnel and see a picture of the development team displayed on the floor of an underground hall.

Dispersion Cannons! Haha I still have this game on CD somewhere :D... The good old days

The gameplay was awesome in this. Why isn't anyone making a similar game today with today's graphics?
OMG this triggers some awesome childhood memories
Terminal Velocity was just the spiritual predecessor, but Hellbender was actually the official sequel.
in 2007 i was like 10 i didn't know about pc my aunt gave me her it was really old it had no gpu and it was running on win 98 i didn't know how to install games this games trial and a few little games was all i had. I spent several days on this game :D

I remember getting the FFF bomb. Never got to use it... I am devastated to this day. It haunts me at night.... of what could have been...
