I always use Autoglym, it’s been around for years and does the job properly.
You don't get to be the most popular brand in the UK by making rubbish products 👍🏼
Got to say that it did a fantastic job of the engine bay Mark, not a product I would maybe rush out to buy but I definitely wouldn't dismiss it now. Keep up the good work sir 👍🏻
Cheers Paul, dedicated products like this are a blast from the past for me, it's almost nostalgic to use them lol but they definitely have their place 👌🏼👍🏼
I spray Autoglym vinyl & rubber care on the engine bay plastics while still wet and leave to dry naturally for a really good dressed finish. On that note, in the multitude of interior dressing/care/cleaning/detailing products available on the market VRC is actually rather good inside the car maybe a it sheeny for some but easy to apply and remove no ill effects and has a delightful lemon sherbet scent.
While your on this Autoglym theme would recommend giving it a whirl, even try the engine bay trick. Cheers!
I'll maybe try that next time 👍🏼👌🏼
Certainly did a decent job! I’m definitely coming round to the benefit of RTU products for quick jobs like this.
I think Autoglym get a lot of hate for being a larger brand who appeal to your everyday ‘bucket and sponge’ enthusiast but if it works, it works 👍🏻
That's exactly the attitude I'm hoping to change Craig, just because products aren't always used to their maximum potential, doesn't mean they're bad products, it just means the people using them might just not be aware of the best processes! They make fantastic products and if they didn't, they wouldn't still be around!!! 👍🏼
Hello Mark,I've used this in the past,on my bicycle and is good to use.
I suppose a bicycle is technically a machine lol very good at cutting through dirt /grease 👌🏼👌🏼
Phew, better late than never 🤣🤣. Can't believe how many QTT's you've done now, keep it up mate 👍👍.
I started out like you and most of others using Autoglym as it seemed the natural progression to detailing a car. I didn't know of any other brands apart from Meguires, so was quite happy to use their excellent products, without knowing there were other products that could be diluted down. Its watching and interacting with people like yourself and the other detailers on UA-cam that I've learned so much in such a short time. Because its such a niche market and hobby there aren't many people to ask for help unless you want to be shot down for asking a (stupid) question. We've all started knowing nothing or at least not much so Autoglym will still be regarded as a quality brand in my humble opinion.
They really are mate, and they're still one of the best brands for people to start out with - simple clear instructions and if you follow them you can't go wrong!
I think I've forgotten just how good some of their stuff is, but I'm going to be revisiting a lot of it, particularly if it proves useful to people starting out 👍🏼
I'm not into these groups at all who don't help people, I've never had any time for that kind of toxic environment and I never will, benefits nobody.
I'm no expert Paul but you know I'll always share what little knowledge I do have, if someone finds it helpful 👍🏼👌🏼
@@SparkleanAutos a friend of both of us said that his latest video had drawn loads of abusive comments just because he was getting rid of some products that didn't work for him. Why do people have to be so nasty. If you don't like what someone else does stop the video or stop reading, no harm done. Everyone can't like the same product range, so why write such pointless and hurtful things. I don't get on with Maguires, but my brother does, not going to start world war 3 over it. Everyone started at the same place, a bucket and a sponge!!!
Couldn't agree more with every word you just said!!
I just don't get it mate, it's definitely not my mentality - if I'm not interested I'll just move along ... If nothing else I'm not going to waste my time talking about something I'm not interested in, let alone be abusive about it 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ makes no sense at all.
And I know the video you're talking about and even I disagreed with some of it, but I completely understood that because I like something doesn't mean everyone will. This person is the most brutally honest out there and if he didn't get on with a product then I'll 100% accept that!
But Greenstar is cheaper and good for this and loads of other jobs at 1:10….
Sorry I mean,
Yasss Queen great review 😜
Haha very good 😏 this is definitely more aimed at those people who just don't have the interest in diluting products and measuring a tenth of this or 5% of that! I must say, the older I get the more I'm falling into that category 🤣🤣🤣
Well there’s a product I never knew existed!!, and it looks as though it’s done a really good job especially if you’ve used so little of it.
Auto Glym are indeed all about you enjoying the product and it’s use so boxes def ticked there for sure!!
It’s a thing I leave well alone due to the concerns of the water getting into electrical switches it just terrifies the life out of me and I was very uncomfortable watching you rinsing the product off, isn’t there an air intake for the heater somewhere along the scuttle that needs to remain dry?, I saw one video where water destroyed the fan motor due to this, I’m still scared to try 😂
Loving the higher quality upload tho mate, really enjoyed the camera work & macro focus 👌
A common misconception but where do people think rainwater goes lol granted you don't stand and blast full pressure around certain areas and a bit of common sense applies, but modern systems are generally built to cope with water coming from all angles 👌🏼
But if in doubt, leave it out 🤣🤣
As for the product, you really can't go wrong with AutoGlym 👌🏼👍🏼
You should do before and after pics! Looks good, what trim enhancer/treatment would you recommend?
Great video as allways Mark, autoglym are a great off the shelve brand and one that many people new to detailing will walk into Halfords or b&q and pick up
Definitely Dave, and you just can't go wrong with them, safe, simple and effective 👌🏼👌🏼
Hi I am new to your channel very enjoyable to watch.
Hi Craig and thank you, always great to hear people are enjoying my content 👍🏼🙌🏼 ☺️
Good stuff as always. If in doubt about any of the Myriad of products. It’s always worth a punt with autoglym to give a good benchmark.
Definitely one of those brands you can just rely on 100% to be functional & enjoyable to use 👌🏼👌🏼
Brilliant review, thoroughly glad i found the channel as this was just the kick up the backside i needed to get some of this and finally give my engine bay a good, proper scrub!
usually just use plastic/rubber cleaners on it with an agitation brush, but seeing this outcome is a no-brainer!
Great!! Thank you for that and just remember to be careful around the electrics - even just use a garden hose if you're not 100% certain about using a pressure washer - it'll do the same job with even less risk! 👍🏼👍🏼
And another winner!😃👍. Product did a great job. Won't buy it myself because I'll just use an APC to do that job but just like you mentioned great product for someone who doesn't have/uses APC and buys such a product to do the job.
Engine bay came out great👌
Maintenance is key lol and it's definitely a bay to be proud of 🙂
I'm with you in that I like my dilutables and have plenty of them - but clearly there is a huge market for people who aren't interested in measuring out ratios and just want to use the product once in a while - this is definitely a great choice for them 👌🏼👍🏼
Nice video, looks like a good product, I don’t think I would personally buy it as I got too much products now, I still get the temptation and buy stuff as I just bought the Turtle wax graphene and acrylic trim restorer and I’m just about to buy Carpro dark side as Slims finally got it, this Auto glym product looks decent but I think I would just prefer a citrus cleaner, I wonder what they mean by Machine cleaner, I found that quite weird that it says that on the bottle, the Auro glym ceramic spray I have used that and still got it but I’ll wait for your video as I’ll give my thoughts on it then not now
The name just implies that it can be used on engines and any other type of machine, particularly where oils and greases may be present - it would most likely contain more degreasing agents than a citrus cleaner and therefore more suitable for these areas 👍🏼
Lovely foaming degreaser! Very potent by the looks of it. Something which can be grabbed off the shelf and get the job done isn't always a bad thing. A litre of the stuff as you say would last the average Joe a long while and save any fuss! 👍👍👍
Definitely... This stuff is perfect for the casual user 👌🏼👌🏼
An engine clean is something I haven’t done yet. I’ve watched so many videos but I’m still to scared to use a pressure washer in the engine 😅
I do get that, believe me lol. I think it's just that, I was taught using a pressure washer in my mid teens when I was an apprentice mechanic, so I knew what to be careful of, and what areas could take it... And those were cars from the 80s/90s.. modern cars may have more electronics but they're much better weatherproofed too!
Having said that, a hose can be just as effective... I'm going to do another video on this very soon but here's one I made using just a garden hose...

@@SparkleanAutos That’s fair enough. I guess as along as I cover the necessities it should fine 🫣😂
@eleganceautocareofficial haha exactly - if in doubt, some QD and a rag will be better than nothing lol
@@SparkleanAutos yes 😅
Ohh did I see the Autoglym glass polish in the corner? Be interested to see what you think of it Mark. Had it for ages but looking for something newer coz it's a bit messy and very powdery gets stuck in all the edges too 🤦🏻♂️👍
I have a plan for it very soon Kevin 😏😏👍🏼🤣
Thanks for the review. Looks like a simple, no fuss effective product. Did you dress with koch chemie motorplast? That is also a great product.
James... 😲😲
Do me a favour and give me the lottery numbers because that was either an amazing guess or you've been studying witchcraft lol how on earth did you guess that?!?! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
@@SparkleanAutos ur a man who likes quality products that work 👍
😎👍🏼😉
Good stuff Mark i use the Autoglym professional range of products and love the results from them ive never used the engine cleaner as my car is 4 years old and ive kept the engine bay clean enough so never had the need to use it. Your engine was tidy enough to begin with as well so good job. Until the next video see ya.
I do tend to keep on top of it and just wanted to give this a quick test (funny enough lol) and definitely wasn't disappointing... I'll have to try it on something a good bit dirtier 🤣
is this product safe on paint and or rubber seals in the long term?
That's a good question that would be better directed at the brand themselves - however, given that it's a product specifically designed to be used in engine bays, which contain a multitude of rubber hoses etc., I doubt there would be any issues provided you don't allow the product to dry in - as would be the case with any APC.
Regarding paint, I have been using this, and many similar products, for decades and have never seen any issues on the painted surfaces under the bonnet, or indeed on any of the bodywork which may be susceptible to overspray. Again I would say the same, rinsing thoroughly is ALWAYS recommended.
To be perfectly honest, AutoGlym are one of the best in the business when it comes to making products safe for all surfaces, provided the instructions are followed 👍🏼
Autoglym very seldom let you down Mark. Performed really well.
They're just a good, solid reliable brand Martin 👌🏼👍🏼
Great video once again Mark, enjoying this little series! I do love dedicated products but cost just rules RTU out for me!
Can't argue with that Daniel 👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼 Thank you mate
What are the areas that need to be protected from water in particular?
area with sample air filter
Modern cars are pretty well sealed but yes, if the air intake is in an exposed area it should be coblvered with a bag/rubber glove etc - most modern cars it's actually around the front grille to allow for cooler air intake and therefore not exposed to direct water intake but always worth checking.
I always cover the alternator too, just because I've been doing this for 25 years and on older cars it was something you needed to do!
If in doubt though, just use a garden hose rather than a pressure washer - a garden hose won't be doing any more harm than driving in a heavy shower 👍🏼
Autoglym are a good solid brand and do most things well ,and while I’m quite happy to dilute products ,probably because I’m a miserable git lol ,RTU’S have their place and suit many people ,another cracking video Mark 👍keep er lit big man 👏👏👏
That's exactly it Jim, we start out with products like this, then realise how versatile dilutable APCs can be and somehow forget how enjoyable and convenient some RTUs can be!!! Sometimes I can see myself reverting back too 🤣🤣👍🏼
I've been waiting since Tuesday, Mark 🤣. Good video and a great product for an off the shelf purchase. I'm unlikely to use that product because I favour Surfex, but if there was a need, it's good to know I can grab this stuff and continue, unlike ordering stuff online. Cheers for the content and, as always, all the best 👍
Thank you Lee .. no questions today?! 🤔🤔🤔😔🤣
Tuesday is getting later every week 😬
I know these products aren't for everyone but sales/popularity show that a vast amount of people still prefer the convenient approach and that is where AutoGlym excel 👍🏼👌🏼
@Sparklean Autos 🤣 can I ask a question.... did you apply any dressing, perl for example? What about, Surfex or Green Star, your preference? You asked, you shall receive 😊
The dressing was Koch Chemie Ps - another one that will be appearing very soon 👍🏼
As for Surfex Vs Gs... Soon I'll answer that one but to be fair to Gs, I've been using Surfex for years and only started using the Koch Chemie one... Need to get a lot more experience to do a fair comparison 😏👍🏼
Love the Tuesday videos. I have a few autoglym products that are great to use, except for the tar remover. It's not so good 😊
Thank you John... I haven't gotten to that one yet but I remember a version they had many many years ago and it wasn't great... Might still be the same one 🤣🤣

Sounds like it 😂

Omg just come home from holiday in the lakes, opened bonnet to put water in for Windows & thought need to learn how to clean me enenge, 1st video on me alert 😂love it thank you, straight out to buy a lil bit of autoglum x
Haha well if I've helped one person today then editing this was time well spent 🙂 just go easy with the rinsing water if it's the first time doing this 😉
Happy to answer any questions along the way 👍🏼
