Haha, yes I believe the original was a sailors beanie and I can remember searching around for something similar. I had to settle for a child sized toque in the end, but carefully rolled up I think it does the job; thanks for commenting!
I'm glad you enjoy the film and I agree with you about the cast. It's a very compact film; small cast, one central location and a VERY creepy dummy. I watch it every Fall 'cos I love the autumnal feel of it, oh, and that music!
@@creepyghostproductionz9026 Yes, he directed about a dozen films. Another favorite of of mine that he directed is Oh! What a Lovely war. There's a scene where make-up is used on a close-up of a character that he kinda re-used in Magic; when Corky looks more like Fats. I was surprised to learn he had directed Magic when I re-discovered it some years back. He was very versatile!
He is a wonderful figure. I have never owned a Dan Payes figure, but I am having him make one for me. He is currently building a "Johnny" figure. He is using an original McElroy Johnny cast. I paid a lot for him. He will be coming with upper lip sneer, wiggling ears, side to side self centering eyes, slot jaw, raising eyebrows, and McElroy original body. Glad to see this video. Keep up the venting.
That's going to be a wonderful figure! Thank you for your comments and advice, I really appreciate it. As for the tension, all's good there; mouth open and closes fine - I don't feel that it could or should be any tighter and the side to side eye movement is real smooth as you pointed out. All the best to you!
Excellent. Thank you for the information. Remember my suggestion. I would produce those vests and sell them on ebay. You will sell them. Also look into vent groups on facebook. Offer them there as well.
Really Bad Fats, But thats OK he's difficult to reproduce properly as the jaw line does not conform to the perfect arc that is required Also no question about who did the voice it was Dennis Alwood there is no debate about this-this is a fact.Hopkins wanted to do it but could not master the wonderful sinister tones that Dennis did.
Cool to find this post. I am fortunate enough to have acquired an Albert Alfaro build of the Sinister Fats. He was a bit expensive, but worth every penny. Imaginarium Studios was willing to work with me on a scheduled pay arrangement and where very pleasant to work with. The workmanship is top of the high end of this craft and Albert is a true master of his alchemy. I couldn't be happier with Fats. He gives everybody the "weirds" and myself included from time to time. I swear I can see him move out of the corner of my eye sometimes. I have a new camera and will upload a video, if he agrees to it. Almost certain he won't pass up a chance to be on camera in front of the masses..... Yep, just heard him in the back room voicing his interest in reconnecting with his public. I better get on it then. See you all soon.

Hi Art, thank you for sharing your memory of watching this little gem of a movie. I can remember watching Magic for the first time when it first appeared on television. I was probably around 8 years old and truly believed Fats was alive! I felt so sorry for Corky! Watching it again years later I got a totally different take on the movie and the character of Corky. It remains one of my all time favorite movies and you're absolutely right; a great spooky movie! Have you watched it again recently?
Alex, no I have not seen this movie again since 1978. However, I did get to see the movie three times in 1978. Twice downtown at the theater in Victorville, and once on base at George Air Force Base when it aired on base. I plan to watch the movie again.
@@alexbest381 he still terrifies me. I've had automatonophobia since 1978 and this movie. When I was 11 my mom took me to see The Elephant Man and it was hard to reconcile that kind Dr. Treves and FATS/Corky was the same man. Haha.

Also the original Fats had eyes that not only would move side to side but up and down as well. There were many things that added a creepiness to him. Even his ears could move. Oh and I forgot that the eyes could blink too. That really made it creepy.
Hi IsaiahGamer, if I remember correctly Fats was $600 US; that's several years ago so there may have be a price increase. Also it does depend on the mechanics you want, like it may be an extra $100 for the sneer movement etc. He's definitely worth it!

Hi, Thanks! The eye brows are what he came with and screen accurate too! I paid $595.00 US for him (this is about 2 years ago) and for that you get the basic movements of head, mouth, and eyes. To have him sneer costs more but would definitely be worth it! I hope you get one, they're great!
Thanks for the reply. I just talked to Dan and ordered one! I'm not a Ventriloquist, so I had him create one with the basic movements "head, mouth and eyes". I decided not to get the sneer. It will also come with the casted eyebrows like yours and fully dressed. Perhaps that's why mine was 695. I can't wait to get him!
