OMG! I was at this game! My Dad, who sadly passed away in 2011, was one of the Linesman of this game on the near/tunnel side so is not often on the camera. RIP Dad x

Man Utd got owned by Ron Atkinson's most memorable team. Cunninhgam is sorely missed. A class act, but blighted by injuries. How much would he be worth in the modern game. I shudder to think....

I know football is now a multi bullion pound money juggernaut, with perfectly manicured pitches , hi-tech modern grounds,...and players with dieticians, fitness and conditioning coaches,.agents......and also there's also VAR..........But football from this era had an organic realism.with their muddy pitches, .....And rickety old grounds that had a quaintness and their own charm,... full character and atmosphere,...more down to earth, in lots of levels.......not the shiny , perfect product it alleges to be today

When the programme comes on, over the theme music, there is a team in red playing at QPR, the QPR keeper making a save. It's just after Frank Worthington taking on two defenders for Bolton.
The team in red have blue or black shorts? Who are they? I'm assuming it's a Granada region side, possibly Bolton, in their away strip? Does anyone know.
Used to love this programme, and Kick Off which was on Friday night's with Elton Welsby. In the pre sky days it was great to see all our local clubs getting air time and interviewed too.
Proper players on proper pitches slogging it out.
They used to have Granada region goals on at tea time on a Saturday on ITV too up until the late nineties.
Great days. I think two teams, possibly Stockport and Tranmere from memory, used to play on Friday night's wherever possible to counteract the city clubs near them gates on a Saturday aft. It worked well for them too at a time when football was cheap enough just to go to watch on a whim.
In this programme, near the end, is some footage of Bolton taking the 78 second division. All the players and fans are celebrating, after 3 near misses, and Ian Greaves ( RIP) is sat with the kit man not saying a word.
Top man Greavsie, sadly missed.
I think is Bolton v Fulham from 1978, the game which allowed Bolton to be promoted to the First Division.

cant have been too much longer after this Sinstadt moved out of the presenters chair and Welsby moved in
Well, Welsby was presenting in the late 78-79 season and took over completely in 79-80. Sinstadt only lasted one more season commentating.
