Can someone tell me what "Do" is he talking about when explains Indian harmonies? I know the Do=C, so Re=D and so on. But he says he means a different "Do". I wonder which one.
+Drumavid Checkupz (despingator) Indian scale is Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa' Sa = C, Re = D, Ga = E, Ma = F, Pa = G, Ni = A, and Sa' would be C an octave higher, etc
He is talking about a movable Do, in the European form as I understand, Do corresponds to the note C wherever that would be found on the stave so in absolute terms Do=C Re=D Mi=E Fa=F So=G La=A Ti=B and Do again C You can also however use Do to refer to any note which is the root of a scale and that is what Ravi Shankar is explaining here that Sa is comparable to a movable Do in Western music, so the term Sa can be given to any note that is the root of the scale.
Great person ❤
I’m taking intro to world music and I just love every video I am assigned.
This is the most ancient form of music.. not "world music"
