But the issue is there are 11 equity fund categories, 16 debt fund categories, and 6 hybrid fund categories among others. How do you go about picking the right fund for the right goal? AI stocks are poised to dominate in 2024. I prefer NVIDIA due to their strong position for long-term growth and their support of other AI companies. I know someone who gained over 200% with NVIDIA. I'm also open to considering the other recommendations you mentioned.
I agree. Even with great opportunities, we should proceed cautiously. Seeking market analysis or advice from certified market strategists is important.
Absolutely, having a solid plan is crucial. My portfolio has doubled since early last year. My financial advisor and I are working towards a seven-figure goal, though it might take until Q3 2024.
Can you share details of your advisor? I want to invest my increased cash flow in stocks and alternative assets to achieve my financial goals.
Her name is Bonita Jeanette Rodriguez. Just look her up, and you'll find the details to set up an appointment.
Thanks for sharing. I searched for her name and found her website. I reviewed her credentials and did my research before contacting her. Thanks again.
My life changed too when I started doing this and putting money in stocks. The first few years it as really great, but this year I haven't felt like my portfolio is doing well. I have lost more than $40,000 from my portfolio the past four months, and it's now very worrisome.
The year has been really rough for everybody. But I've been able to cushion the effect though. Have you thought of using an investment advisor? They can make you good money especially during uncertain times like this.
Yes, I agree. I use a financial advisor too. Same person since 2020. I don't worry about whether the economy is going up or down or sideways. I always ride through.
Oh, really? I have never thought of that as an option. Can I ask who it is you've been working with? I bet I could use some help myself.
My CFA NICOLE ANASTASIA PLUMLEE a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further... She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market..
Thank you for the lead. I searched her up, and I have sent her an email. I hope she gets back to me soon.
I'm 21 and no one can keep me from the mutual fund market now. Mr. Karthik TQ and Godspeed. The team behind the scenes too.
Music is distractive from the voice. Please correct it.
Hi, noted. Thank you.
I love the music... I was mesmerized while watching the video
@@varsitybyzerodhaYou didn't note. Just watch your next videos.
True, pls avoid music- Its distracting.

Your ability to clearly explain complex concepts about mutual funds is truly impressive. I'm definitely planning to watch more of your videos-these are invaluable resources for anyone looking to deepen their understanding. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Value funds have giving very good results for past 3 yrs.
I was eager to learn about investing in stock marker, I am 32 now and just started. I made a mistake by going through online forums, Threads, chat groups and picked some impulsive stocks by influence of others without due diligence. Being Frustrated, stumped upon this gold mine of channel and learning some great fundamentals. Excellent learning so far, cant wait to implement:) Thanks Karthik, more power to you sir!
These are very high quality videos, especially the last one. I feel Govt should add a financial literacy subject for school students through Varisty
Thanks for such an amazing series. I gave me more insights on mutual finds investing than any other things I have learned in last couple of years. Keep up the quality work.
I went through the entire list. Music is really distracting the topic and explanation.
One of the best videos ever seen, first time have seen someone has mentioning cagr less than 12
Very realistic! Thank you❤
World class content.. felt like a membership programme... keep up the good work team...
I come from a non-finance background and have watched all 13 of your videos, which I found informative. However, I am still confused about several concepts:
1. Fund, Category, and Index: Could you explain these terms in more detail?
2. Capture Ratio: You mentioned that if the upside capture ratio is 99, it means the fund has managed to capture 99% of the index's upward movement. Similarly, for the downside capture ratio, it refers to the fund capturing a percentage of the index's downward movement. I didn’t quite understand this concept. Could you elaborate on it with a simple example?
3. Sharpe Ratio: You explained that a Sharpe ratio of 0.29 means that for every unit of risk, the return is 0.29 over and above the risk-free rate. What does this mean in practical terms?
4. Debt Funds: You mentioned that debt funds are for parking excess funds and are not meant to expect higher returns. What is the actual use of debt funds, and what does "parking of funds" mean?
5. Portfolio Allocation: When you talk about a portfolio being 80% invested in large-cap funds, 10% in mid-cap funds, and 10% in small-cap funds, what does this 100% represent? How is the investment divided across multiple different funds?
6. Choosing a Mutual Fund: I am still unsure about which mutual fund to choose for my financial goals. Could you provide some guidance on this?
Could you please explain these concepts in more detail and in layman’s terms? Thank you.
i feel so lucky that i got a chance to learn from you.crystal clear. meet you with the goals nect time
Thanks. For the Short duration funds: mentioned in 10:25: is actually investing in Debt funds and as per the Present Tax rule they will be calculated as per individual earning tax slab ( < 3 years) . Thus, the investment has a very poor effective return of 4.9 % ( Av Return 7% from fund and 30% tax) ..
Kudos to the efforts for teaching mutual funds to every possible generation.
Excellent video. Karthik, In one of the articles I read, value fund beats all other categories in the long run. Hence we shouldn’t ignore them. Even Warren Buffet is a value investor. As you right said in the end, one should give sufficient time for investments to grow. In such case value funds is my preferred investment choice.
What a fun and educational series was it! Thanks team Zerodha and Mr. Karthik! 👏
Thank You so much for this!!! 🙏🏼
Every animation, video quality, and background music is just so perfect 🤌🏼
Appreciate all the efforts put into making the video👏🏼
Thanks, Karthik and Team! Very nicely developed series... I enjoyed a lot
Its quote helpfull for me as a young student starting my professional life. Please make more such videos.😊
Please avoid background music, it is irritating.
Thanks for such an amazing content. Kudos to you guys! You make financial education simplified.
Thank you for sharing all these videos. They are very helpful.
Really nice information and the way it is explained and simplified is great! Keep it up!!
For 10 and 8 years period, approach is too conservative. Nothing wrong in investing flexicap and multicap funds.
The house price which we think is 1.5 cr now, will become something like 3 cr in 10 years ? We are not calculating with inflation in mind I guess.
Owning a property adds up to maintaining it and the property gets structurally older so it loses its value after a particular time
You won't just be able to buy 1.5 cr home just with sip. You need multiple people earning, your family income should be at least 45 Lack pa to be able to afford it. With that you'd have enough to invest for at least 10 years to get enough money for the capital and based on your credit score everything you'd get a loan. You put down payment and since you already earn enough you'd be able to pay the emi.
You can increase your SIP amount by 12% every year
We need to choose a different house at outskirts ! The designs will be better after 10 yrs ! 😊
Lol no. Real estate hardly grows by 2-3% if it is not commercial. That's why real estate investment isn't recommended
Great video, but where is the data sheet? Unfortunately most will have multiple goals and these will change with age. Could you make a post which takes an example of a middle class 25 year old just starting a job, depoly his expected proportion of salary in creating an expanding portfolio of MF taking into account main life events, over the years, like marriage, home, chikdren education retirement etc.
Personal Finance 💯
Just wow! Kudos to the team. Now the expectation is so high!!!!🎷🎷

Very very useful video.. at the correct time.. i saw this video.thank u so much 😊
Hi Team,
This is my first time to the channel. And very new to this investment journey.
I Request you to provide me the guidance of selecting index, mutual funds for different financial goals.
I saw your youtube video - 'Building your mutual fund portfolio'. And in that its clearly mentioned that for 10 yrs goal not to go for INdex fund. and its mentioned to go with Large and midcap. So u mean Active large and active midcap funds?
Also, We should not have Flexicap funds for this 12yr or 10yr goal period????
I recently started my investment journey and i was investing all way in index funds only for 10 yr goal as well.
I am really confused NOW n get much stressed on building the right portfolio for different goals
Can you please guide me or request you to provide a blueprint of building Mutual Fund Portfolio as per below:
Goal 1 : >20yrs - depends not worried
Goal 2: > 12yrs - target corpus 1cr
Goal 3: approx 10yrs - target corpus 1cr
Goal 4: > 10yrs
Goal 5: >20yrs
I want to have 5 Portfolios for each goal as i should not touch the other
Such a helpful video! ❣️
Thank you for the series! Very informative! 🙌
Great advice. But I may differ for the first case. For a married couple, a small cap plus ELSS would also help in 10-15 years. Along with a highly aggressive hybrid fund, to keep some capital safe. (30% ELSS (has large, midcap plus provides tax benefits), 40% in good small-cap fund, and 30% in the aggressive hybrid fund. But again, risk management and understanding market trends and macro conditions are important.
40% in small cap is too risky for most ppl
haha this advice is a joke lol
Hi Sir,
Kindly make video on how to use sensibull and how can we use information gathered from varsity in sensibull.
Hi Gourav, we'll look into this.
Pls explain why index funds are better than large cap/mod cap for retirement plans?
Awesome content 👍👍
Thanks for educating us
Could not capture the data sheet clearly. Can you share the fact sheet in a legible readable format please
Table is very blurr.! Not able to see single lins
Thank you so much Karthik Ji! ❤❤❤❤
Nice T-shirt. Link for the T-shirt? 😄
Thanks for the video.
Doubt: newly wed couple planning for a house cost 1.5 crore for present day but about increasing property rates and inflation?
sir can you make a video on module: markets and taxation with update on current tax applicability as the module has 2014-2015 tax applicability.
Nice Video, those 3 important things before MF is must👌🏻
Thank you so much. Learnt a lot about MF.

instead of investing in large cap funds and mid cap funds separately
Why can't we invest in large and mid cap funds , also as sebi mentioned won't they be having a 35% of large cap and a 35% of mid cap
So what you are saying is that is not the reality?
Hi,
Thanks for wonderful series
Have you covered IDCW and CWP concepts somewhere else?
Excellent video series 🎉
small cap mutual fund vs flexi cap mutual fund which one is better?? Please tell me or make a video about this topic....
Depends on your risk appetite, time horizon of investment and the rest of your portfolio, as to what you need. How can this guy (or anyone else) help without knowing anything?😊
thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent presentation, Karthik 👍
Thank you very much!!
So conservative means do not invest in one time, start SIP or on monthly basis correct?
7:42 Best option Large cap fund ah ??? Every one is saying Index fund is better than LC funds.
Age 27
Mnthly sip amt 20000
1)aditya birla equity psu 2500
2)parag parekh flexy cap 3000
3) motilal oswal mid cap 3000

5)quant small cap fund 2500
6)invesco india infrastructure fund 1000

why not choose flexi cap fund for the scenario of the young couple?
Thank you !
Very nice content. But the music is disturbing.
Where would you get a house in 1.5 cr after 10 years ?
Hey what if I want to withdraw my money from a liquid fund on the 100th day. How does that work? Can we do that?
Insightful session, please remove the music. Tried too hard to focus on the content.
Very good and valuable information... thanks a lot..
Bhai nifty 9 point niche anese mera portfolio 4000 niche ageya but 180 point upar janese sirf 1300 rupiya increase hua why???
Assuming the real-estate price will stick at 1.5cr

Cagr can be useless if the currency devaluation takes place...
So helpful

Also can you please tell in each fund category for example if I consider large cap , I have 20k, how many large cap fund I need to invest . Invest all 20k in one large cap or split that into multiple large cap .

Where can a copy of the MF table be accessed? It's quite hard to read it within the video here. Thanks
You can find it at varsity's website
Hello,
I have invested Rs. 7 lakhs in Canara Robeco Small Cap fund. The fund has underperformed it’s benchmark in the last 1 year. Should I wait for 2 more years, or exit the fund and reinvest my money in some other small cap fund?
Please reply.
Hey, we don't provide any advisory as such.
@@varsitybyzerodha How much time should we give an underperforming small cap fund before exiting it? Is 3 years of underperforming it’s benchmark good enough to exit it? Or should we exit it after 2 years of underperforming it’s benchmark?
@@bublubhuyan937small cap funds might even underperform for 5 years and could give returns in the 6th year. So do not invest in small cap funds if your investment horizon is not 15 years
great video
Thanks for the video but music is very annoying and it’s difficult to listen to you
Noted, we'll try keeping it down.
good one
@7:26 where is the link to index investing
Hi, we've added the link in the description: ua-cam.com/video/-BU8hyY-ZXk/v-deo.html&t
Create a Hindi version
Remove the music and save our ears
Turn volume down of music. Music is distracting
Noted.
I am investing in 5 Small-cap and 5 Midcap funds for a 15-year time horizon for a corpus. I am a high-risk investor and assuming at least 15 % CAGR would create a good corpus. Even though they are small and mid-caps, 25 % of the fund is automatically diverted to Largecap. I am aware of portfolio overlapping do you agree with my investment strategy ?? I do not like to stick to one or two funds per category with recent frauds at AMC and Manager level. So all 10 funds are from top 10 AMCs so no two funds from single AMC or manager.
In one of the models Sir clearly states that most of the funds following the same benchmark have the same portfolio of stocks moreover. So no need of Diwosification.
will you launch video in hindi language also
