- I call it a "folly panel". It's like a molle panel, but more fun and a little ridiculous. The passenger side panel is my coffee bar, so I decided to make a nighttime version for the driver's side. Since I don't need to see out of that window, I had more leeway to get creative. Result: a spot for my laptop, small tool storage, a multifunctional work surface, and a hidden nook.

That is an awesome addition! I liked it to begin with but the stand alone table mod really adds to the utility of it. Don't feel bad about it taking a while, I have a diesel heater install vid that I started recording in February, then we got that record heat going and the last thing on my mind was more heat. Maybe this winter I'll finally finish the project/video.

Hey Martha, My Mom's name is Martha. So when I saw Shoestring Martha I had to take a look just because. I love your videos and watch them every time they come out. They are so clever and relaxing.
I've heard you mention watching Asian women camping. I've watched some of those thanks to you and I really enjoy them. I don't know if you get your inspiration from them or if you are just their camping soulmate. But I love all the gadgets. Anyway I digress. I wanted to tell you about another youtuber who I think is quite clever. I've been watching "Little Camper" It's an Asian man, I don't know what country, who camps in a small van. Generally he stays in truck stops & rest areas. Has lots of gadgets. But he has a back story, kind of like a spy, sort of. He creates a scenario and plays with it during his trip. It's poignant sometimes and a make you laugh moment another if you get subtle humor. Episode "SWAT team's SOS mission deep in the mountains" is especially funny. It's like living a 12 year old boys dream 🤣😂🤣 Just wanted to share.
I love Little Camper! He is based in Japan. His ceiling track system is amazing and I love his little rubber ducky fire extinguisher. The amount of gear set up is both intriguing and kind of exhausting 😅

Great Ingenuity 👍 Thanks for sharing your process 😊 I don't miss the Phoenix 100+ temps but I do miss the 5% humidity. I am in the field in Burlington on Lake,now. All my tools &.some knives have rust blooms. Even with mineral oil. Or gear is mildewed from humidity.

I’ll occasionally consider it, but then get overwhelmed thinking about the logistics of order taking, production, and shipment 😵💫 If I had a workshop and a CNC cutting thingie - maybe 😄

@@ShoestringMartha Kori you could always just draw up a Template with instructions and possible variations to fit different vehicles, as well. That way you don’t have to make them out right, but sell the plans per say..I would love one for my Honda Element on the drivers side
I have the plans for the 4Runner runs for sale, but making others would be hard. Every vehicle has such different attachment points, and figuring the shape and dimensions of the windows is the hardest part. If the manufacturers offered up that data, I would be ON IT. 😂
YOur driving along around minute mark 20 something and I was wondering about the potential rattles, especially on a 5-12 hour drive. Sounds like you have it figured out as well. I think some leather or something may knock that rattle out.

We just went on a long drive and found the plastic sleeves helped, but on really rough road - not enough. 🙉 The handle parts of the hinges rattle too 😣 I might velcro them down, when not in use.
