- Digging deep for antique bottles is what we do best but this hole tried to get the best of us! We made a few really cool finds and had a few monster cave ins! This video is one find after another and thats the way we like it! The winter months in Alabama are the best for digging so we are trying to capitalize on the cool weather to dig in our deepest bottle dump! I am looking forward to metal detecting in the coming weeks while we start to prospect for a new local dump!
My dad was digging in the drive way to connect wires from the house to the shed, and he found about 20-30 110 year old bottles. Some were organic milk bottles, and some other type of bottles. Months before his finds, I found a 200 year old civil war police or army cuff button. The ups of having an old house 😊

For those embedded bottles-an old big screwdriver or a large carving fork. The shovel seems a bit clumsy. A friend digs in the face with a Springsteel probe.

a guy sold one of the Pepsi bottles at our local flea market for more than the 25 thousand book price because it was such a nice bottle.

Those old dumps won’t hurt the environment because it’s mostly inert stuff like glass but modern dumping sites are mostly plastic and other stuff that leaches into the groundwater

Last year last Hutch #17 4 lyph, as the Hip Hop guys used to say. A duplicate of my first ever Hutch, Waialua Soda Works 4 PC. mold. Weakly struck-worn mold? A fun hobby, holding out for a paniolo (cowboy camp) a little way away near Makua. 4 sites, 17 Hutchs. Last year found loads of broken Hawaii Codds, and 3 from Los Angeles.

Hello! I'm a Japanese bottle digger, but I was very surprised that there was such a bottle in such a deep place.

LOVE YOUR SHOW! Being from Ottawa Canada this show gets me through the winter snowy months when i can't dig. I have to say it kills me to watch you guys pull out so many sodas not to mention those "common bottler" hutches that puts tears in my eyes considering i have never found one. if ever you want to sell a spare bottle or two I'm interested. At a little over 7 minutes in, you were talking about cutting broken tops off. I've done that on a few now and had good results. I found out that thicker walled bottles cut really nicely with my tile saw and the cut edges clean up with some wet sanding. I tried cutting some thinner glass but it tended to chip and get a rough edge so I need to figure out a better way to cut those. I don't know about using them as drinking glasses but they look good on a window sill with some flowers in them.
A tile saw makes total sense! Ill have to give it a shot!
@@adventurearchaeology You just have to go slow with them. I turn the bottle against just the leading edge of the blade and go a little deeper on each turn. Definitely get a face shield and gloves though because if it decides to come apart you'll get nasty slivers flying at you. If you give it a try I'd like to see how they come out

Hey Brandon, that marble at the beginning of the video is a cobalt. I found and sold several for $100 each! That is awesome!
There are many to be found in my area. That is the prettiest one I have ever seen . Some of the clay ones came from Codd
bottles. Kids would break them to get the marble. The one that I sent you a picture of has to be from 1872 .
Have found Codds from Los Angeles & Honolulu-too bad all broken.

Y'all are digging in that old dirt with all that broken glass and not wearing gloves isn't real smart. IF or when y'all get cut you very well could end up with a nasty infection that will make you wish you had worn gloves... I an old safety man and I've seen what happens to the best of them that don't put their and others safety first and foremost... I would hate to see your good time ruined by needing to go to the ER for stiches because you weren't wearing gloves... I would suggest the anti-cut through gloves they make now are like wearing regular gloves... I see your wearing hard hats to protect your heads that's very smart. But why not protect your hands also... Please next time wear gloves and don't forget to protect your eyes also... God has blessed you with a healthy body it's your job to keep it that way... Be blessed... BBE..

Hey Brandon. Love your new intro, and looking forward to the next video already. Got a question-was watching another bottle digger's video, and as they dug undesirable bottles, they would just pitch them down the hill. I notice that your sites are usually cleaner, making me think you rebury your rejects. Do you consider the other as littering, even though it's an old dump? I do, but just wondering if I'm being unreasonable. Thanks and G L!
We try to rebury most.... but some times if they are whole we will leave them out for the bottle scavengers. There are a few old timers who come take the slicks we leave behind because they dont feel like digging theirselves.
Have you ever brought a metal detector out with you to check the tailings for relics?

@@adventurearchaeology Good point how about sifting the lower levels? Seems there could be some good stuff to be found. You could have ur subs enter to be a guest in the episode and they can sift for relics.

ok young fellows go to the nearest farm store get a few pair of the cheap work gloves. get wet but will protect the fingers from cuts that will not make your day. now them bottles are real nice.

I have trouble understanding the terminology for the bottles you find. I think I heard you call one a "circle slug". What does that mean?
Circle slug is lingo for an embossed circle around the lettering on the front of the bottle.

Had a family member lose a digit this way! Nasty infections from bad things in soil. Cuts, even the smallest, let the nasties in. Flesh eating bacteria is no joke!
