Last Stahlhelm I saw in person had a bullet hole in it. It belonged to one of my ROTC friends and his grandfather was the one that made said hole in it and collected it from the body as a souvenir.
The thing about the helmet, is that you can easily cover the bad no-no cross with stickers of whatever flags you need. Like an Irish flag so you can re-enact the Irish war for independence.

It‘s an M42 specifically (bent out edge) and for some reason it is missing the liner or at least the split pins but Idk how the liner would stay in.
