Hello Gabi! Thank you for doing a review on the TYME iron! You were close with your technique but we can help make it even better so that way you get prefect results and have an easier "TYME" doing it! We have other stylist that we have waiting to help you for FREE in 30 minutes or less. We do virtual appointments to help you understand how easy the technique truly is. Your thumb is always behind the power button no matter what and you should not be rotating the iron with both hands. All you need is one hand with a little rotation. What makes this a little tricky for people to get the technique at first is the way you have to start with your hand. The curve side does have to be to your head and your thumb is behind the power button. The part you were missing is when you start you have to turn your hand forward so that the back of your hand is facing into the mirror (You shouldn't see your palm in the mirror when starting) and the power button is facing the mirror also. This can feel a little weird at first so people tend to come in with the wrong side until they understand that part. We would love for you to try an appointment to get the most out of your TYME iron! You can email us at hello@tymestyle.com if you would like to set up an appointment. Thank you!! (:

Way too much for the price of the iron. Could achieve the exact curls with a different tool for half the price.

I love my TYME styler!! I’ll never use anything else. Best curling tool I’ve ever used. Your 1 in 1 training taught me in just a few minutes how to properly use it. I like to pull it through slowly from top to tip to get nice big long curls. A little spray and it stays curled for days. I love it!!! I’m not fond of these reviews by people who haven’t properly learned how to use it because in my opinion, it’s not a true factual review. Thanks for making the BEST styling tool I’ve ever used!!!

I bought 1 of these 2 years ago and it sat under the sink. I just pulled it out and am trying it again. She is right that it's not intuitive. I'm going to watch the Tyme tutorial again and if I still suck at it I'm giving it away.

@@Radmxray You got this! When you’re styling, don’t forget the four main rules.
#1 Thumb behind the power button
#2 Guard plate should be closest to your roots. You should see the power button in the mirror before clamping down.
#3 Rotate the closed iron away from you, kind of like revving a motorcycle.
#4 With a gentle grip glide throughout the length of your hair moving forward toward the mirror.
*** extra step: twist your curl back into place to help set the curl higher.

This just goes to show that maybe she should do more research or take the time to read the directions before hating on a perfectly good iron. It does take some learning but honestly I learned in less than a week and I’m not a hairdresser.

She totally used it wrong so don’t base purchasing on her review. They give you 1 on 1 training when you buy it and it’s actually really easy to use. But you do have to learn how to use it correctly. This review is not a good representation of how wonderful this styling tool is. I’ve used mine for years and love it! I get big full and we’ll defined curls on my entire head in just 15 minutes. I highly recommend it and won’t ever use anything else.

Not only do you have to keep the curved edge to your head facing mirror...the left side has to be done from the right hand over top of head..... do not use this product until you watch a proper tyme iron video...however you did a fantastic job! I still cant get reliable waves...its VERY frustrating...I would not recommend buying one.

This thing is a pain in the ass. It’s not intuitive AT ALL! I’m always burning myself. I’m always frustrated and it takes forever to do my hair. I’ve had mine for over a year and I still can’t figure it out so I have uniform curls. I have to use tiny tiny sections to get my hair to curl and it’s just ugh. I keep trying because I spent so much on the damn thing. It sucks. If I had it to do over again I wouldn’t have bought it. I would have just used my flat iron had I known this wouldn’t make it easier and quicker. Do not recommend. I hate it.

Paula Acosta I like things that are easy to use and effective. I didn’t want to not like it, I just found it very confusing. As a hairdresser I see clients struggle with their hair all the time and if it was this difficult for a hairdresser to get, I just feel like it’s not intuitive for someone who has no hair skills what so ever. Lots of people like it and I can definitely respect that but it just wasn’t for me.

The most helpful technique change would be probably to pull the iron in a vertical position towards the front of your face at the midline. So if you’re looking straight in the mirror, the iron should always stay close to your head, in the vertical position, and move towards your nose/middle part of your chin in the mirror. Your face turns sideways and you pull the iron out towards the side which is causing the differences in curls!

    • @eileenmarston7718

Tyme offers a one-on-one video lesson with you when you've purchases their iron, so you may want to do that. Once you get the hang of it (and it does take some practice), it's much easier to use than a regular flat iron. I absolutely love mine!!
