In case if the Settings icon is missing from the home screen of your iPhone then what might have happened is the settings icon must have been buried in one of the folders. So, what you do is swipe the screen to the bottom to open the search option and type settings here and you will be able to see the settings icon. Now in order to bring this Settings icon to the home screen what you do is open this Settings. Go to General and go to Reset and you need to select this option Reset Home Screen layout. So, once you do it the settings icon will be available on the home screen. Now please note that if you have arranged the applications in a particular order then that arrangement will be gone and then you need to re arrange the icons again.

For newer iphones (running iOS 13 or greater) there is a MUCH BETTER way to restore the settings app WITHOUT having to RESET. Keep Swiping RIGHT until the App Library appears. Look for the UTILITIES folder and the SETTINGS app will be there. Press and HOLD the Settings App until the icons start to jiggle. You can then just slide the SETTINGS icon to where ever you want it to be.

Swipe Right until you get to the All home screens app, then swipe right again you'll see the settings app. UPDATE*

No!!! Just swipe right to get to the App Library and tap and hold the Settings icon. Then you can drag it back onto the Home Screen. Don’t wreck the layout you worked so hard for. It’s way easier.

Hello there, to all of my friends, who read this comment. I could not catch it for so many times, which make me very angry and I hit my iPhone on the floor, many times, then I throw it on the roadside, straight away it was broken and cannot be used. Now I have just buy a new quite cheap ordinary Nokia 610, handphone, it's easier for me to used, no need to press this and that which always make me feel headache because of it's all rubbish. This iPhone I use, I borrow it from my friend for temporary a short while to write this comment for any one who can help me to explain or advise me next time how to used any iPhone. You no why my friend, I have already done this kind of bad habits for many times where I have damages 2 Samsung Galaxy and 1, Oppo iPhone because I am so confused and very angry. Not necessary to reset your Home Screen. Just swipe through your app pages until you get to the last page (App library); there, search for and drag the settings app back to your home screen.

Hi, my son accidentally deleted some icons from my iPhone, one of which is the Notes and WhatsApp icons which have important notes. I did and follow the steps but now the WhatsApp had not any of the past sms. Just like blank. If I do what with the Notes, I might loose all the important notes on it.

It absolutely works for me. Just touch the screen with a finger and swipe downwards. A bit inconvenient to rearrange all our haphazard apps but it’s better than resetting the whole phone to default. Thanks a lot for sharing.
