I don't think this works. Robyn is too emotional in a very Nordic kind of way and that clashes a lot with the American rap culture. I understand the point of this mixture and the fascination for rap of some Northern European countries, but it simply doesn't work, in my opinion. The incompatibility is best seen symbolically between 0:35 and 1:00. What do you think? Only insightful responses please. I'm being serious.
I agree I don't think this song works but I think it's possible to rap in a way more emotional way than rye rye does here. I don't think the reason they clash is due to inherent discrepancies between the genres, but I think just the specific artists clash. I think Robyn's verse would go well with a different rap vibe. I don't get why rye rue chose to br so peppy here. Also another reason why it sounds off to me is that despite Robyn's emotional singing, there seems to be no real climax to this song.
