That seems about perfect for Spring and Fall. My heavy Winter coat is unbearably hot above 20 degrees but I tend to like it warm. Thanks for the reply.
That shirt is the bomb diggity. Great that they will handle those of us with Sasquatch builds. I will contact them directly as I need another jacket. Many years ago I committed to buying high quality clothing and it is the way to go IMHO. I have clothes that are 30 years old, worn regularly and still going strong. Thanx for the info.
The word is BOH-REE-ALL, it refers to the northern variety of evergreen forests found in Canada. A boreal forest is the kind of forest found in the north.
Difficult to take someone serious, as being a Bushcrafter, that has zero idea what the Boreal Forest is. Al is Boring. You don't want to go to his Forest. However, if you happen to visit a real Bor Eee Al Forest, one might have a great time.
rstevewarmorycom not only Canada the Boreal forest or Taiga is the earth's largest terrestrial biome where just less than one third of all the trees to be found on our planet grow, the Taiga encompasses the Artic circle stretching from Alaska, Canada and the northern state's of the USA to Iceland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Mongolia and northern Japan it is the earth's lungs!
I like wool for cold weather. It's not an either/or thing for me when it comes to natural fibers and synthetics. If it was really cold, I would add another outer layer of synthetic material that's good at blocking wind. Great combo!! Thanks
It should be no problem for them. When I called them up, the guy I spoke with said they've made garments for folks over 7 foot weighing over 400lbs. He was a super nice fella.
I own a few wool garments and they keep me very warm but without adequate ventilation it is a sweat box when working. The last jacket i purchased has heavy duty zippers for shedding it off whenever the need arises. The pant is wool also with the same zippers and snaps to button the flaps over the zipper. They are double layered at the knee and thigh area for durability with buttons everywhere. The pant best resembles army pants in style, and they are very warm but i have to shuck them off also if I go indoors for an extended period of time.
+richardpinell This garment is best for very cold weather, and is an awesome part of layered clothing system. If someone hunts from a stand, ice fishes, or other outdoor pursuits with light to moderate physical exertion, then they will find value in this. I hate to tell you this, but any clothing capable of keeping you warm can also cause you to overheat and sweat as activity level increases. Layered clothing, and removing/adding layers is important. Learned that while working 30 years as a high voltage lineman. This is an Adirondack style of pullover, and it seems to be quite popular with those who endure extreme cold. Thanks
I realize that perception is difficult to quantify. I've only lived in two states: Mississippi, and Virginia. I think this garment can keep my comfortable down to the 40's and 30's. Someone who lives in New England may think that range to be much much colder.
I like them. Would love to wear one but the few times it'd be necessary would leave it on a hanger. As big a size as you take it could double as a pup tent.
Yeah, I realized that I was actually spending more money over time by buying cheap gear, and having to continue to replace it. The guy I spoke with at Empire was a genuine good fella. I hope you like your overshirt as much as I do mine. Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the sub, and the support!!
This garment does cost a lot, but after my 3 week trip in the mountains, I thought it was worth it. Besides, finding clothes that fit me ain't easy! I agree, I love wool in the cold weather. Thanks for another great comment, as always
Wow, sorry I missed this comment. Thank you for stopping by my vid. I really like my Boreal shirt, and thanks for getting it to me before I left for my trip.
Very nice job on the review. I just received mine. My ordering experience was as yours. Being difficult to fit my whole life, I was worried about spending the money on something that wouldn't fit. But, like you, gave the my measurements and got the same, "no problem." Just as you state, about 2 months to deliver...and worth the wait. I subbed your channel. Like you, I've also "made do" most of my life. I think, at a certain age, you just begin to realize you're worth the investment.
For what this garment is, I would not have wanted it wind proof. I prefer that it is more breathable while humping a pack or dragging deer in the mountains. The cost of the garment is high though.
Nice stuff. What would you estimate as a temperature range (just wearing a T-Shirt) underneath? I'm looking for a jacket for late Fall/early Spring in New England.
I know I was really behind due to my trip, but I just went back to look, and I don't see it. I might have erased it by accident while erasing messages that I've responded to. I've done that before. Send it again
What size is yours? Or is it custom made for you? I happen to be 6' 7" as well. The arms look like they could be a tad longer. hard to tell in the video
+GunznGear I'm in the U.K. and just ordered a custom fit I'm only five ten but 300pounds, I've got a thyroid gland problem and it's terrible trying to find quality wool clothing to fit, after emailing Jason a couple of times he asked for my dimensions and offered to make one to fit, it's a Xmas present from the wife so I'm hoping it's ready in time and fingers crossed we get the bad winter we been promised lol, TC buddy
+Randal Flagg What an awesome Christmas present! You will have to give great consideration (and expense) to respond in kind. It is predicted that we will also have a severe winter. This Boreal pullover has proved it's worth to me, and I hope your's will serve you as well. Thanks
o geez. Go watch ACTUAL sheering. Not some propaganda video that was cut up from 3rd world counties. If you know anything about it, the sheep love it. They are taken care of. Yes, I've seen that crazy cat lady peta video.. lmao... so lame bro.
its pronouced Bore ree all, its not important just for future reference I hate it when I'm saying something wrong and don't know it so I don't mean any offense. I think we are about the same size lol, I hate trying to find cool gun and outdoor type clothes thanks for the video
I like your video very much but my very first thought was, " Can't use the hood with that hat." I've got some parkas with nice hoods and some nice wide-brim hats but I can't mix the two.
i really don`t make it a habit to comment bad on videos, but if you dont know what you are talking about at least dont give advices, be responsible ...a 16 years old might listen to you, we always cut a tree low, safety reasons. Dont take my words for it search and learn... mors kochanski has a nice video and alot of expirience. go check him out.
I'm not sure what you are commenting about. This is a video about a wool garment. As far as advice and safety goes, let me say this; you are way off the mark. I care deeply about the safety of others, and only remark about things that I have a great deal of experience. From your short statement, I can see that you do not appear to have a great deal of knowledge, nor do you pay attention to those whom you recommend. You do not always cut a tree low. If you are using short handle tools like hatchets, tomahawks, and shorter handle axes, then it is much safer to raise the angle of the swing. That will provide better body mechanics, and it is safer incase of the cutting tool glancing off the tree. Longer handle axes are much safer to swing low, because their length means that an errant swing is more likely to hit the ground than to end up in someones leg. You are the one who may be indangering others! I will agree that Mr. Kochanski is a great resource of knowledge. You should have done your research before commenting!
I have to apologise right away for that comment, I left the comment on the wrong video, obviously I was watching at 2 videos and left this one on the wrong person. That comment was not for you I am an really sorry if I offended you. I am not an expert on axe swing in fact I use an axe for less than a year now. though , I am pretty sure that what I saw on that video (not yours) was deadly dangerous. in any case long handle or short we should never swing an axe upwards to clear up the notch. at least that is my opinion from what I`ve seen from people I judge to be valid woodsmen as mors kochanksi. but I dont understand in anyway how I am indangering others? I still believe that cutting a tree should be low, short or long handle, in case there are hung ups , the tree can come off the base where you cut, and land somewhere around its root base, cutting low eliminates that risk by reducing the radius of that displacement. I say again, no expert here, not by a long shot. just my honest opinion. And again sorry if I offended you with the wrong comment.
I have their Arctic Anorak and I love it. Ive been lusting after the Boreal shirt for a while. It will be on my list of next winter that is for sure!
That seems about perfect for Spring and Fall. My heavy Winter coat is unbearably hot above 20 degrees but I tend to like it warm. Thanks for the reply.
I sure do like mine. I wore it a lot during my 3 week trip up in the mountains. Thanks bro

THANK YOU - MERCI TRES FN BEAUCOUP !!!
its bad enough that focus is out as well
Boreal means North, like Austral means South. Boreal was the name of the northern wind in ancient Greece.

I've made a similar garment once from surplus wool blankets. I think that's what Hoss did, but he is a much better seamstress
Pretty cool. It reminds me of the old Quebecois/Metis capote. Or a canoe jackets. Looks great!

Enjoyed the video keep up the good work be blessed
After that 3 week trip in the mountains that I just returned from, I think it's worth every penny!

I looked at these a year or so ago. I would love to have one, but as you said they are expensive. Maybe eventually I will get one..
I have one, love it. Buy once, own it forever. =)
This garment does cost a lot, but after my 3 week trip in the mountains, I thought it was worth it. Besides, finding clothes that fit me ain't easy! I agree, I love wool in the cold weather. Thanks for another great comment, as always
The low hanging branches are not nearly as rough as the door ways and ceiling fans!! LOL
It was custom made for me. The sleeve length is perfect for me. Give them a call
Beautiful shirt, may look at getting one.
Wow, sorry I missed this comment. Thank you for stopping by my vid. I really like my Boreal shirt, and thanks for getting it to me before I left for my trip.
i have a similar over shirt and love it. but dang brother at 6-7 your a foot taller than me. good trails and watch those low branches.
Glad you liked it! Thanks
One of the most awesome anoraks on the market.
I really like mine. Thanks
That looks nice, thanks for the video!

i've been looking at that. it's worth it too have the good stuff. i know that i'm set when dry and warm. i can go outdoor's.
For what this garment is, I would not have wanted it wind proof. I prefer that it is more breathable while humping a pack or dragging deer in the mountains. The cost of the garment is high though.
LOL Gotta watch out for those critters!!
I think I am going to order one of these. I am 6ft7 290 and have a hard time finding clothes. I almost always have to buy tailored clothing.
Wool has never bothered me. I've worn it for a lot of years at work, and camping/hunting etc. Thanks
Thanks buddy!
I sure hope to
Thanks!
Nice stuff. What would you estimate as a temperature range (just wearing a T-Shirt) underneath? I'm looking for a jacket for late Fall/early Spring in New England.
I agree, being wet and cold is miserable!
just subscribed, great channel.
Thanks
Realy Nice man!
Nice! Thanks!
It's expensive, but I think it's worth it.
I knew it stood for the forest, and I'm not surprised that I mispronounced it.
I know I was really behind due to my trip, but I just went back to look, and I don't see it. I might have erased it by accident while erasing messages that I've responded to. I've done that before.
Send it again
Very nice.....
You should try a New Zealand Swandri
I like it!
What size is yours? Or is it custom made for you? I happen to be 6' 7" as well.
The arms look like they could be a tad longer. hard to tell in the video
Yeah it's a little heavy for the state of LA. I'm not big, you're just small!! LOL
I know what you mean. They just don't make very much clothes for full grown adults!! LOL
Me too!
Quality garments are often cheaper, when you consider how quickly lesser quality clothes wear out, and have to be replaced. (Sasquatch builds, LMAO!!)
You've sold me. I'm also 6'7" and finding quality wool outdoor gear has been a major challenge. Is your's a custom fit or off the rack?
This one is custom fit. I just called them and gave my measurements. Thanks

They do cost a lot.
This one cost considerably more.
Yep
I'm in the mountains of Virginia
I think I would probably have gone for the 20 percent nylon mix as it would be less palatable to yore average moth .LOL
Getting excited, huh? Lol :)
Don't know if this has been mentioned, but it should be pronounced BORE ee al as in forest. Just saying.
★★★★★
Nice!
I saw a video on how wool is harvest from those poor sheep and how those sheep are treated, I just don't want to wear wool anymore.
o geez. Go watch ACTUAL sheering. Not some propaganda video that was cut up from 3rd world counties.

aww - did you just figure that out , baby ?
use hood like neck gaiter dopey , otherwise wear cap of some sort
LOL!
