I cannot believe he is gone.... I know a few buddies up here in Alaska that knew him when he was up here and they were creating the kitchen table format Elder Dragon Hilander... He was a great man who did so much for Magic. WotC better take care of honoring his legacy...
@jaydub5515 With him living in Florida the past few years, I actually got to meet Sheldon at CommandFest Orlando this year and have him sign my foil Coalition Victory before he passed. I have friends at locals that actually played with Sheldon a couple times a month, it's rough all around.
Idk if this was really relevant during that game, but. At 08:00 LED doesn't produce 4 mana, since it isn't tapped (so Kinnan doesn't add an additional)
Game 1 was handed to Alex there. He had the win on board if he could get dockside count up to 8 (which notably, the dockside count was 8, not 9 as mentioned in the video). I was screaming at the video for no one to cast any artifacts or enchantments until kenrith was dealt with, and then literally the next turn, Rhystic and mystic brought the count up to 8. I wonder if TK just didn't see the line.
I didn't know that line even existed until it happened so my guess is the rest of the table didn't know about it and kenrith just kept their mouth shut until the window opened
I didn't know about it before the game started, but when he reanimated dockside, it reminded me of the 5th ability, and as soon as I saw phimage enter as dockside, I looked to see if any of kenriths abilities targeted, and put it together then. I get it though, not a typical line, easy to miss, just crazy that it seemed preventable to me.
It’s the only clone played in King Kenny just for that reason … it can go copy YOUR Doc the same way - Kenny player doesn’t even need one to draw out the table with the loop and plus 1’s/reanimate
Kinda surprised Rog/Si didnt pop off with that early hand lol. I was fully expecting turn 2 to be 'steal your consult and win with it' with that thoracle/praetors grasp/culling the weak hand.
I don’t remember which member it was but I got to play with a one of the people who play on this channel (the kinnan guy), and if the rest of these folks are anything like him, they’re are probably super chill! Thanks for recommending the channel mr kinnan guy :)
Also all respectful and supportive of trans people, which was very nice to see since the magic community has been a bit of a mixed bag on (In my experience) Ps, comedian is a cheater, he beat me twice in a row both on turn two which MUST mean that he’s cheating /j
I'm actually curious what the table discussion was for game 1. Did TK not see that Alex had the win if he played the extra enchantments for Dockside? Did anyone else say "hey you know if you do that and don't have an answer Alex wins here"?
I am getting back to mtg after 20 years... trying to learn the commander system... for me its crazy how people memorize all those combos lol... anyway I enjoyed the video and how it was recorded, got a new sub ty
Me watching these games as a Sythis enjoyer 😢 I try to make her work in cedh but she just cannot deploy stax fast enough before someone turbos off, and she folds so hard to interaction , and is terrible for feeding rhystic/fish, even the new bowmasters crushes the deck too
Yeah most importantly feeds the pirate, I been thinking about building stax Sythis but these videos make lean more on a partner, I may change my prosper to tevash Roger it’s almost the same list lol
I have never seen a Sythis win. I feel bad cause they always just sit there as the others play solitare. Great games and unique Wincons from the others
for enchantments I find Anikthea to be more powerful, having 20-25 minute turns by turn four and creating infinite mana, gaining a lot of life, and creating a lot of tokens.
I think Sythis shouldnt have pathed the ragavan that 2nd game, i almost feel like they could have prevented the kenereth player from winning if they hit the dockside but im not sure
Thats just a bad sythis, poorly built, sadly cause is a great commander actually pretty powerful, but sometime people build it like its just adding up alot of enchantments with no sinergy😐
Strategy question: Why would TK and Emma fetch up shocklands and pay life on turn 1 rather than OG duals? Seems like they have them in their decks (and not in their hands) during game 1.
or even hold off on cracking them at all until they have a response to a play if they arent going to spend the mana immediately? they can always crack at instant speed and if they dont have to do it until the end step previous to their turn they save the 2 health
Sweet! Thank you guys. Appreciate it. Love the channel. Thought CEDH was a terrible format, until I started watching your videos and got to know it. Now I'm building it. Thanks again! @@PlayingWithPowerMTG
@@baeruttgaming4779 yall should send me a good sythis list because I love her conceptually. I'm getting my lists on mtgtop8 from winning lists, since im brand new. I will champion Sythis for you if you help!!
The problem with Blood Moon in cEDH is the overabundance of mana rocks. If you think about it, Dockside is good because Blood Moon is not as good. It's still good enough to see play in mono- or two-color decks, but that's because it breaks parity. In essence, playing basics to make Blood Moon work has the upside of hurting some of your opponents' mana sometimes, and the downside of being a 3 mana spell that's sometimes useless and either hurts you, too, or forces you into a bad manabase or low colors.
I don't remember a single game post Dockside print where I see the Blood Moon player winning the game. It's just a nuisance, and can throw games by shutting off interaction.
Commenting this for those who don't know, but Sheldon Menery passed away this morning. We lost the godfather of the format we all enjoy so much.

Based on how many cards he had in grave, it didn't matter but is certainly something to remember for future games

It was a solid bet it would get up to 8 regardless because Sythis was definitely going to play enchantments
@@singerbradley not if it gives the win to the opponent. Dockside or Kenny had to be dealt with first
Game three was a bit of a risky win but right up my alley. Props to the winner of that game!

Wow, Bowmasters Wheel was really cool
While not about this video specifically, Rest In Peace Sheldon Menery, the godfather of EDH and face of the Rules Committee
Question. Shouldn't LED only make 3 mana, not 4 through Kinnan?? Since it doesn't tap?
Absolutely correct, it didn't matter since he had enough cards in yard but certainly something to remember in future games/videos
Need some opening hand stax pieces with Sythis I guess
Will be hard because the list only plays 2 stax pieces and is a voltron list relying on auras. Really can't see it win unfortunately
@@InmAncalagonthat is not a cedh deck at all in that case

when is the pod cast coming back?
It’s on hiatus for now. We are looking into bringing it back, but we aren’t sure when.
The first kenrith win was sweet
Why?
As soon as Alex had it out I knew what was going on but I guess no one had an answer. It was a pretty good line though.

I still don’t understand why people do the turn one mana crypt with 0 plays lol. Redundancies in cedh are amazing
is Emma trans? :)
Why didn't alana play talisman + praetor's grasp for dockside or anything ele on turn 1? 🫠
