Now, children, what did we learn from this film.
1.) Do not steal
2.) If you steal large quantity of teh moneies from a fatherly figure, you should not show it to random people in a library
3.)Do not panic walk away from random dudes, RUN instead.
4.) Pay attention to weird stories given to you throughout the short film you have found yourself in
Last, but not least...
5.)When in a relatively safe room, do not organize your boyfriends belongings than proceed to wander around like an idiot in a very creepy place you can A.) get lost in and B.) were told "weird things have happen here"
LOL Infinity!
Hahaha! It's a movie dude
if she didnt want to talk to anybody why does she sit at the table with the guy in the first place.
Her wish
I think their acting scared me more
Let me see if I have this straight. A woman steals $2200, walks into a library full of empty tables, sits down at the only one where a person is sitting, someone she doesn't know, pulls the money out of her backpack, and sets it out on the table for the guy to see. Or am I nitpicking?
I have a hypothesis that explains that to my own satisfaction, at least somewhat. She was shot while fleeing with the money, and the library was Hell's waiting room. She was compelled by fate to sit at the table the man was at, who was none other than the Devil. I liked the video.
LOL exactly what did she take this money out for???
DJLud100 makes sense. We heard a click at the beginning of the film that could’ve been a gun
It's fate, mate
With a bit of Shining backdrop. Penderecki, Bartok?
Eternity in a library? ......Yes please! I don't see how this is a horror that sounds like HEAVEN!
I agree so much
Well said XD
all I heard was 'no need to wear pants or be told to clean my room' and don't you think the staff would have toilets and kitchen areas?
He asked her is she wanted to go for coffee -- and he was outside the library and the girl was washing her clothes -- so maybe you could have all those things but just lived in the library.
I wonder if reading was required?
The real horror: *no cellphones allowed.*
what ive learned from this is some dudes really just wont accept the friendzone.
Narcissa Malfoy Guys be thirsty XD
who else couldn't hear the boy and the girl talking?
Anna Garcia me. I thought it was my phone playing up.
Anna Garcia we too
Me Too.
Me.... me...me. I didn't. I didn't. I thought it was my air conditioner and fan fault.
It's a library they are supposed to be talking quietly
This was brilliant! The references and atmosphere of The Shining, even with Penderecki’s music score! Well done!
What was the point of muting the dialogue?
Was that suppose to enhance the suspense in some way?
We kinda need to know what they are saying to have an idea of what's going on. None of this made any sense. An empty library is a good setting for a scary movie. But this was just lame.
"and I guess you could say the rest is history..." What in the actual fuck??
wow.... this is the most clean.. most modern.. most romanian library...i want to go there..
You see those glowing fluorescent exit signs, meant to stand out in an emergency. Maybe just maybe you should follow them, and not turn the opposite way, expecting an exit.
When they panned over to it, it didn't look like there was an exit door though..
usually it the sign would point out another sign and you just follow the signs.
I know how exit signs work. When they panned over one of them, there were only walls & one room.
I didn't understand anything.
same to you
NeoDarkSquall And I thought I was the only one!
@@sananida2403 Same to you
If she didn't want to talk to anybody in the library, why would she sit at just about the only occupied table in the place? XD That whole scene would have worked better if he had just come along and sat down with her instead.
She was waiting for "somebody", that "somebody" just Never showed up
Johanna Maria Rolf
Yeah, but that weirdo wasn't the "somebody" she was waiting for and she really didn't like talking to him right from the get-go. Therefore it made more sense for her to pick an empty table, especially because she'd want to face the way she came in since her boyfriend would have likely used the same entrance. Instead she picks a table with somebody else where she's facing the opposite direction and wouldn't be able to see him come in.
When you want to escape, try to open every door except those where it's written "EXIT"!
3:06 I bet she felt asleep at that point, and everything was a nightmare.
Actually, that is the best explanation yet. :)
OMG! The shinning! Lol
If you listen closely, that soft scraping sound is Kubrick spinning in his grave with your blatant ripoff of The Shining's suspense cues.
"So, this wasn't always a dorm... It... It was part of THE LIBRARY!"
NOES!!!
That was pretty weak. Maybe they were all architecture students and got the willies from such a tale.
History lesson guy says that it used to be an extension of - THE LIBRARY! Kids used to come up here to get - THEIR BOOKS! There was a lot of - CONSTRUCTION!
Scary? It's like he forgot his lines half way through and said "Screw it, I'm gonna riff...". No time to reshoot, "We'll fix it in post production.", the director optimistically thought....
"Don't leave"
*30 seconds later*
*leaves*
tf?
Right! I thought that same thing like, "whhhhyyyyy?"
"Won't you come and join us?" Sounds like "Hello Danny...come and play with us." Using the music from Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING made this film all the more creepy. Great short this was!!
k, why the fuck is she going to such a dark area of the library?
can we run away like you promised??
not until you steal another $997,800.
Ugh. Everyone who had a speaking part in this movie should be arrested for felony bad acting.
Why the hell she has been running in creepy n dark places of the building ?!! Couldn't she find some place where actual people are there ?!
I'm sorry, but this "short" horror film went on for a really long time, considering nothing really happened. =/
oh dear. loved the concept but the acting...
how come we couldnt hear her talking... and really the shinning music from the shinning
This is music from The Shining.
YES IT IS
So, besides bad acting what other terrible things took place down there?
+Jimmy David Shit visual effects, Loud audio that don't let me listen to the history, voice acting failing, shit history that would not scary a kid and worse... Waste of everybody's money and time.
+Matusak Clowes *Scare
This has a strong The Shining feel to it. Or is that just me?
Kiana Kavoosi deserves all the credit she can get. She was the one likely keeping these people sane while this crap was being filmed.
"It's an interesting story! This wasnt always a dorm, it used to be... part of the library!!"
What part of that story is so interesting that you would tell it at every party?
For that matter, what part of it was interesting?
total time waste :/ waiting for something scary to actually happen. and.. I GUESS WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER FOR THAT :/
Iqqu bukhari yes
relax..19 minutes is not enough on ur life

hey look the reading room a short horror film
The music. The shots. The suspense. The Shining!
wtf the audio, wft the acting
Total crap, what was the point, just loads of running up and down corridors, rubbish.
Tracy Buxton ikr
That was very good. Where it lacked in acting, it more than made up for in ambiance. I loved the moments where the camera would follow her and give a glimpse of the guy in the background. I think more could have been done with the ghost's sadistic side, but I did like how he was mostly cheerful. I'd like to have seen the boyfriend looking for her, too, and maybe they meet on either sides of a door, but hers opens into the library instead of seeing him. Fantastic short! Thank you.
"We cant stop we're too far in. Please you have to come." Let the dirty jokes arise... Lmfao
Lmfao!
😂😂😂😂
lot of bad comments, i was scared though. enjoyed the film.
I loved this film, I think the nostalgic feeling was the best part for me. Keep up the awesome work.
I am SO upset!!! Bishal Dutta!!!
I wasn't aware that she had stolen some money until people on the comment board brought it up. But this is definitely 1 of my favorites I probably watched it 6× times already . The acting isn't bad although I'm not sure why the audio sometimes goes off like when she was talking to her boyfriend in the library and when she was in there room. But other than that it's definitely one of my all time favorite horror shorts of course there a whole lot of them that I absolutely love waaaaaaaaaaaay. 2 many to name it would take years and years and even more years just to name all of them but. The reading room as well as the smiling man and women. The rake. As well as the German short my final destination. Are just the many many horror shorts that I love
Underways, the resource of so much horror effects ! One day, you might want to visit those of some French hospitals, if you haven't already done it...
Let me get this right --- Once someone walks into a library he/she can never walk out --- do they crawl or or run out??? Because she did run out -- and she did leave the library - so that story was a lie.
However, I did like his joke about the helicopter chips.
wow that description of the video is intense. It gives me the chills😵😨
ME TO
What he say at end sound kept going some of it any one else have that issue
This was a very good movie, acting A+, music and camera work was A+.KUDOS. someone is going to go far in the movie industry if they keep this going.
$2,200, but all I saw were a couple of one dollar bills.
They were a couple of $1,100 bills!
If I was her at 19:23, I'd be all like"No thanks, sorry. I got places to go, things to see, people to meet, stuff to do. Bye!" THEN RUN LIKE HECK!
JUMP SCARES ANYONE?
I liked it, the ideas was good, and the little details like the exit signs everywhere where pretty clever, thanks for letting me watch it.
what a bad shitty actor the guy in the library is.
You know the drill
1.demon
2.evil spirit
3.creepy doll
4.witch
5.serial killer
6.monster
7.zombie
8.insane person
9.banshee
Sounds like the soundtrack from the Shining
And the cow bell and triangle noise was so loud
ghostface089 Same thing I was thinking.
The girl voice is so low :3
Thanks 🥰
1 of my personal favorites I've watched this at least 6 times never gets old memorable lines won't you come join us. And this movie has the largest library that I've ever seen well done to the cast and crew
Right
The Library is Massive Books
Let's Learn
Just Sayin.🦋
Beaucoup de scenes empruntees a SHINING.Musiques, maniere de filmer,angoisses,ect...
this is not a short film it's 19 minutes!!!
I think I might become a creepy stalker, seems like an EASY job with women like this
Music from The Shining! Hell Yes!
this legit terrified me. soo good... but soooo scary
What was that, like 40 bucks? No wonder she is doomed to do laundry forever.
It was implied that she stole $2200, but did she kill the person to get it? I don't get it.
Wow, he just read the description verbatim. What are the chances of that?! SPOOKY!
Methinks Bishal Duta has seen Kubrick's "The Shining", "The Changeling" and other classic horror flicks. Because of the angles & use of the camerawork and score.
Influence yes, but not a real understanding of the work. Watch a post Strangelove Kubrick film without sound sometime. He was very deliberate in telling the story through his cinematography.
This reminds me of Kubricks "the shining". I was waiting for the twin girls to pop out and say, "come play with us danny!! Forever and ever and ever!!"
The stalker was too adorkable, so he wasn't especially creepy to me.
That's one hell of a dark library
The scene looks so familiar..... it looks like it was filmed at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Why? MY dad works there at Stanford Medical center as a geneticist so I used to bike there a lot.
Awesome! Really enjoyed it. Well done.
How fkn large is that library, it probably has a few post codes. Btw, love the dress, lol
Good film, just missed some opportunities at some jump scares is all.😁
Very high on suspense and, hey, tension! What the mystery of the reading room is, you don't reveal,or?I guess a disaster occurred &people died. They are now dwelling there forever? Very enjoyable,at least 9/10😁!!!
This is one of my favorits I have watch this a number of times. Never gets boring i only wish i knew where this was filmed because that is one big gigantic library.
She passed a lot of Exit doors and didn't try any of them. Maybe it means there really was no way out, but I just don't get it.
She should have stayed near people.. If dude came out of nowhere, i'd yell "stranger danger" & hit him with a book & ran for the exit
I would have been like: " no I won't come and join you now stop following me like a freak before I drop kick you." And then I would have drop kicked him.
Did anyone else wonder why she kept running past the exits ? I counted at least six .
And I to didn't hear what was being said between them in the bedroom .
On a scale 1-10 this gets a 3 .
I've never seen a worse end of story. Especially in horror short film. "The Reading Room" is verry good but at the end is very, very, very bad (even worse).
Nice use of The Shining score and concept.
Amazing short film!!! I see some Stanley Kubrick in your style of shooting. From the long hallway shots to the music. The Shining set in a library. One of the best films I have seen to date.
Yeah 'sokay. Sound is a bit off, and the story needed a bit more to it. The background of the dorm was "it used to be a library, and there's been some construction" (ooh spooky) while the people listening don't seem to care. Still I like the camerawork and editing. Good work, keep it up.
Where is the sound? I mean I couldn't tell what was going on
Acting wasn't all that great, but I enjoyed this. Very atmospheric and creepy. Modern, but with a 70/80's vibe. Heroine that we're rooting for in one moment ("RUN!!") and want to slap in the face the next (Scary guy chasing her...why not run to the most isolated, darkest corners of the building to get cornered quicker?). Pretty good overall!
This is scariest acting ever... I barely couldn’t get started... I gave up in 3 minutes ...
Too bad to be true !!
Really not bad. I liked the camera. The voices sometime was too quiet.
The actress have a beautiful dress.
That guy's game is off the charts miserable.
Looks like the Maxwell library , wonder if that's where they filmed it
Exit signs, use them. Good movie otherwise. Very Kubrickesque
why did they mute some of the talking?
I can tolerate the wooden acting, but something needs to be done about the audio. Inexcusable, Jack!
Would have loved to have heard what they were saying! The sound kept going in and out..fix this please!
whats the piano song at the end of the movie? soundhound cant pick it up
It's called Heart And Soul
thankyou
Cool! I love that vertigo shot you did haha
btw the story most likely tells about a haunted library or something like that isn't it?
the peoples who went there will die, cmiiw lol
just some advise, i think in making a horror movies you should avoid a too long take because it makes the watcher wait too much and the tempo will go down then tired of waiting..
Sure I believe in ghosts though the ghosts of normal people scare me the most of all ghosts.
"Normal people scare me" Tate Langdon
Where's the audio gone to??
Lol 17:15 when she opens the door, you could see another hand on the other side.
Story is so-so, very cliche... I don't get why people have to run to the most isolated place when being chased... couldn't stand the acting. Cinematography/continuity could be improved.
But seriously, the acting is just.. -___-
