What Does a Wedding MC do?
The wedding MC is the host of the wedding reception. They are in charge of keeping the event running smoothly, on schedule, while making sure that all of your guests are having an awesome time. They are there to make sure the newlyweds are the stars of the show and that they are taken care of throughout.
And if heaven forbid the train does come off the tracks (Aunty Bev is a bit sozzled and won’t surrender the microphone), the MC is there to save the day.
The MC’s duties include; liaising with the reception venue, working with other wedding vendors (such as celebrant, photographers, musicians, caterers, videographers), working around the caterer’s schedule, warming up the crowd, housekeeping, reading ‘telegrams’ from guests who couldn’t make it, giving the speakers fun introductions and making them feel comfortable, announcing wedding party entrances, facilitating cake cutting, toasts, games, the first dance and bouquet toss.
