The thing that bugs me about all the folks who knocked Roger because of his age, is that he looked in pretty damn good shape for 58! And not just at the end, but the beginning as well - he was 45 when he started playing Bond, but looked a good 10 years younger than Connery at the time.
chewybunz Moore looked great in the 70's for a man in his late 40's/early 50's. But I think he was too old to play Bond in the 80's, even tough I think he looked better in AVTAK then in Octopussy and FYEO.
chewybunz I think he looked more fresh in AVTAK. He looked old and tired in FYEO and Octopussy, he needed a break back then. Moore returned to all of his Bond films from the 80's in the last minute, his last Bond film was to have been Moonraker.
I was truly saddened today to hear of his passing. I grew up watching him as 'The Saint' and 'Lord Brett Sinclair in 'The Persuaders' and on the silver screen as 007 and he epitomised the action hero. In latter years he used his fame for good in his role as an ambassador for UNICEF Thanks Roger !
I play the piano in a restaurant and I get a round of applause each time I play FYEO and The Spy Who Loved Me. Thank you, Sir Roger Moore, for the humour and the memories.
Miss Mr Moore, was my favourite. Pure class and gentleman. The smoothest of all, with tongue and cheek. A single raise of his famous brow, will execute any action moment.
Moore was 57 when this show was shot & easily looked 10 years younger! In fact, when 41 year old Sean Connery was deemed "too old" to play James Bond any longer, in 1971, he was then replaced by 44 year old Moore in 1973! (I believe that Roger Moore had the distinction of being "The Most recognized person in the World", in the 1980's!) I read your autobiography & you had one heck of a life! One of a kind! R.I.P. Roger!
J'écris de France, Marseille, car l'anglais j'ai oublié. J'ai toujours bcp aimé Roger Moore.Quand j'avais 8 ans j'étais amoureuse d'Ivanohe. Et en vieillissant il a gardé son charme sa beauté son élégance son humour..Bye Roger !
Moore looks healthier and younger here than he does in AVTAK. I believe when he made the film, his facelift hadn't quite settled in and he still had that stretched look.
I agree; he looks fine here and the plastic surgery isn’t hardly noticeable. Other interviews around this time he also looks much better than in the movie itself. Not sure what happened but maybe they should have waited a few more months to shoot when he looked like this (and have leading ladies at least in their mid-30’’s too).
he was a fantastic Bond and his wit made it not too serious. I loved the way he trod the fine line of menace and humour, the dark and light. it's a shame that the latest James Bond film has become so serious, dark and feeling the need to add graphic torture horror content.
A great man and a great Bond. Didn't look too old at all, I think he could have done at least 1 more. Also nice to see him actually happy to be Bond. Connery seems (or at least did seem to) have a love-hate relationship with being Bond as Daniel Craig seems to have also developed. Moore & Brosnan both seem to have been quite happy to be Bond.
3:33 He summed it up perfectly here. The more seriously you play a secret agent which is recognized anywhere on the planet, the more ridiculous it actually becomes.
I wish I looked like Roger did at 58 .He looks awesome. I say to all the negative comments you look in the mirror when you reach maybe 40 or 50 then see how good you look.
Not popular thing to say - he should have left after the spy who loved me. He looked too old in moonraker. It was a known thing - I think he joked about it himself, he couldn’t run. God blessed him with the looks and voice. He was the epitome of an English gent. On a personal level, he poked fun at himself for his acting skills and said he loved the money!! I’m sure he took it to heart that certain sections took the mick out of him. But like he once said, he was a good actor as played roles effortlessly. As for terry wogan in this interview, I think he was rather harsh on roger for a lightweight programme. I could sense roger was rather peeved about the age thing cropping up and Terry not giving it a rest. Roger took it all in his stride. Rip roger Moore. A fine actor and ambassador.
When Robert Vaughn died, I remember noticing that Roger Moore stated that he took some of his suave but comic Bond act idea from Vaughn's example doing Napoleon Solo, bemused smirks, raised eyebrows etc. The Saint wasn't like that. Maybe The Persuaders was (a bit). Old naff TV...why is it still in my head?
Never realised until now how useless Wogan is at chatting to guests and how embarrasing his questions were. Roger Moore a brilliant Bond and way more intelligent than Wogan. A class act and very much missed. RIP Mr. Moore
Never ordered the martini, BUT did introduce himself.....a few times....Live and let die to Jane Seymour....For your eyes only in the car chase to Melina Havelock
Sir Roger Moore had planned to retire from the role of James Bond after Moonraker, ironically because of his age, and Timothy Dalton was slated to play the part in For Your Eyes Only but Bond producer Cubby Broccoli for some reason asked Moore to play Bond one more time. Afterwards, American actor James Brolin was originally selected to replace Moore as Bond in Octopussy but when it was announced that a rival Bond film was going to be released in 1983 starring Sir Sean Connery (in what was to become the Battle of the Bonds), Broccoli again asked Moore to reprise the role because Broccoli felt Moore's Bond would be a better rival to Connery's. I don't know why Moore didn't retire after Octopussy. Maybe it was because the producers could not find another actor at that time suitable to play the role. Brolin nearly being hired to be Bond would later be parodied in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
Tobey Muguire He'd interviewed Roger before and it was his style. Plus Roger was fine with it and hit back with his crack at Terry being anonymous (which Terry dealt with beautifully). 2 knights both sadly missed
Worked on Octopussy as a spark for a week, Roger never stopped smiling, he radiated happiness and joy, great guy, class act
Roger Moore. What a legend.
What a legend. Roger Moore.
One of the most complete and inspiring individuals to ever walk this planet.
Two absolute legends - Sir Roger Moore, the very best 007 and Sir Terry Wogan, the very best broadcaster - both sadly missed!
The thing that bugs me about all the folks who knocked Roger because of his age, is that he looked in pretty damn good shape for 58! And not just at the end, but the beginning as well - he was 45 when he started playing Bond, but looked a good 10 years younger than Connery at the time.
+CV SoG Yes, he looked really good for 58! But he did not look believable has a spy anymore, spies retire at 45!
Moore was soft and flabby even before A VIEW TO A KILL. As for his first Bond outing, I will say he looked damn good for a 46-year old Englishman!
chewybunz Moore looked great in the 70's for a man in his late 40's/early 50's. But I think he was too old to play Bond in the 80's, even tough I think he looked better in AVTAK then in Octopussy and FYEO.
SuperBond Fan007 Well, I don't see how he could have looked more youthful in that last picture.
chewybunz I think he looked more fresh in AVTAK. He looked old and tired in FYEO and Octopussy, he needed a break back then. Moore returned to all of his Bond films from the 80's in the last minute, his last Bond film was to have been Moonraker.
Roger is damn witty! He definitely had a lot of bond in him, suave good looking and good talking
He funded apartheid.
No entiendo la conversación.
I play the piano in a restaurant and I get a round of applause each time I play FYEO and The Spy Who Loved Me. Thank you, Sir Roger Moore, for the humour and the memories.
You *rape* the piano you mean. Look, the piano is for things like that: ua-cam.com/video/z6pp4XHxx0k/v-deo.html
Class act. RIP Sir Roger, so humble.
how can one not love, love, love Roger Moore? He was the most loved and lovable!
I love how Roger always had that smile, I bet he had a superb sense of humour.
For me my favourite Bond of all time.
I shock his hand, and he smiled at me. He had this amazing look in his eye. This was in hammersmith. What a guy.
Roger will always be my favourite Bond - just loved the effortless suaveness and somewhat camp humour he brought to it!
Miss Mr Moore, was my favourite. Pure class and gentleman. The smoothest of all, with tongue and cheek. A single raise of his famous brow, will execute any action moment.
I laughed my ass off, rogers wit is too funny. This guy was a international treasure, RIP Moore
What a voice
roger moore the best one
So damn annoying the damn same questions during all these years! He had the patience of an angel ❤️ My favourite Bond!
Moore was 57 when this show was shot & easily looked 10 years younger! In fact, when 41 year old Sean Connery
was deemed "too old" to play James Bond any longer, in 1971, he was then replaced by 44 year old Moore in 1973!

I read your autobiography & you had one heck of a life! One of a kind! R.I.P. Roger!
I remember this from the time!
Roger aged so well.
The Persuaders is one of my favorite TV series
Love him 🥰 always humorous and humble.
Simply the best Bond.
Undoubtedly Legend.
The best Bond OO7...
ever....
What an honest person he is, speaking directly. It's a pleasure to hear.
Two legends will be missed
Great interview with a great 007. RIP Wogan.
And God created man! he really was so handsome, and he knew it and he appreciated it. R.I.P
The 1960s was the best time for Roger Moore to play James Bond as he was the right age back then.
I believe that he was considered, before Sean Connery, but couldn't get out of "The Saint" contract!
Brilliant interview!
Roger Moore, love him!
J'écris de France, Marseille, car l'anglais j'ai oublié. J'ai toujours bcp aimé Roger Moore.Quand j'avais 8 ans j'étais amoureuse d'Ivanohe. Et en vieillissant il a gardé son charme sa beauté son élégance son humour..Bye Roger !
Roger Moore was a really very handsome man & fit the role of James Bond quite well.
He's still the best
Rest In Peace 007.
Bless , thanks for the fond memories Roger R I P
Ive been a great fan of Bond specially of Roger Moore, I never thought he had such a good humor...great guy ¡
UNFORGETTABLE,MY IDOL
Moore looks healthier and younger here than he does in AVTAK. I believe when he made the film, his facelift hadn't quite settled in and he still had that stretched look.
Roger aged so much between Octopussy and AVTAK, hard to believe it was the same actor. Does look better here though.
I agree; he looks fine here and the plastic surgery isn’t hardly noticeable. Other interviews around this time he also looks much better than in the movie itself. Not sure what happened but maybe they should have waited a few more months to shoot when he looked like this (and have leading ladies at least in their mid-30’’s too).
i really wish he continued in the role.
Underneath the “action hero”, Roger was a true philosopher.
That man had sophistication and class in his DNA
What a man he is. Wonderful man. In any sense. And I'm not homosexual, nope. I love manhood, though. This kind of manhood.
Both these guys now gone.
RIP Roger Moore and RIP Terry Wogan.
Centrist Philosopher RIP..:(
he was a fantastic Bond and his wit made it not too serious. I loved the way he trod the fine line of menace and humour, the dark and light. it's a shame that the latest James Bond film has become so serious, dark and feeling the need to add graphic torture horror content.
Absolutely true!

Ml PSH sean connery did enjoy his time as bond he just didn't like being just remembered for bond even though he was very successful elsewhere
Approaching 60 he still looked considerably better than most men half his age.
He'd had plastic surgery.
Mark Harrison wow-who was his surgeon? I could use one that good lol ✌
It left him with staring eyes.
Cool Style & looks, no parallels.
he's my all time favourite bond i like roger moore im so sad for hime he's no moore
3:33 He summed it up perfectly here. The more seriously you play a secret agent which is recognized anywhere on the planet, the more ridiculous it actually becomes.
This guys is the perfect James Bond template.
I wish I looked like Roger did at 58 .He looks awesome. I say to all the negative comments you look in the mirror when you reach maybe 40 or 50 then see how good you look.
Roger Moore legend.
Me:
UA-cam: Hey wanna see Roger Moore in 1985?
Me: What the fuck are you smoking, UA-cam? And yes I do.
The very definition of suavity - Roger Moore!
One word to describe Roger Moore.....REGAL
Love roger!
Hermoso ángel.
;_;7 Farewell, Sir Roger.
Roger is 3 years older than Sean but Roger has always aged better
Not popular thing to say - he should have left after the spy who loved me. He looked too old in moonraker. It was a known thing - I think he joked about it himself, he couldn’t run. Rip roger Moore. A fine actor and ambassador.
J'aime son élégance et une beauté de traits assez rare j'ai aimé le saint ,amicalement votre et tous ses James bond
Class guy
He seems like such a fun guy, and his Bond was very fun too (even when the movies weren't too good).
❤️
Hay caught you watching
bond again.
Roger Moore is the first actor to play James Bond until he was 60
58
+Daniel Williamson Yeah, you really need to get your numbers right.
Daniel Williamson he was 58 years old when retired from the role and celebrated his 58th Birthday on set of A View To A Kill
he was 58 years old here. if that guy is not a freak of nature i don't know who is :)
Hair colour fake tan works a wonder lol
He got a face lift here.
But looked really fit in the 70s
😘😘😘❤️❤️🌺🌺🌷
A book doesn’t jump off a plane and ski down a mountain.
I can always watch the 70s Roger as Bond great locations plots and sexy women !
Both gone now. Aww
Both very funny guys with a similar sense of humour. Perhaps a missed opportunity to work together in a tv show in some form or another.
Never realised until now how useless Wogan is at chatting to guests and how embarrasing his questions were. Roger Moore a brilliant Bond and way more intelligent than Wogan. A class act and very much missed. RIP Mr. Moore
What you see is what you believe
He looks an awful lot like buffed-up Peter Weller here.
In his seven Bond films, Sir Roger never once uttered the phrase "My name is Bond, James Bond" and never ordered a vodka martini, shaken not stirred.
Never ordered the martini, BUT did introduce himself.....a few times....Live and let die to Jane Seymour....For your eyes only in the car chase to Melina Havelock
Live and let die ,

Terry rather disrespectful but Sir Roger rose above his jabs!
La classe anglaise !
Fuck me, smooth was his middle name
reading the books Roger Moore looks like Bond and Sean Connery looks like the saint ..
Now wait minute - he's getting rude on my gentle Sir Roger, don't like it. Frankly he looks gorgeous right there - whatever age he is.
Ignore this comment as this is a persona msg
For ariane and em em
We had nice times together, thanks for the memories!
He should have done 3 more films
He would have been 58 years old here.
🌹 Holaaa 💖 en español porfa si gracias 💜
4:03….touche
MAGNIFICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Omg such rude interviewers !!!!
He reminds me so much of Bryan Cranston. Or the other way?
I know Terry's just joking around but the things he's saying sound very hurtful
Tobey Muguire He'd interviewed Roger before and it was his style. Plus Roger was fine with it and hit back with his crack at Terry being anonymous (which Terry dealt with beautifully). 2 knights both sadly missed
Roger had a very good face-lifting at the time ...
Best bond ever. Absolutely handsome
Wogan was very rude
Why do they both have yellow teeth?
Terry Wogan was a terrible interviewer, don't know how he had such a long career in tv an radio!
Jay McD he was more light hearted than serious like Parkinson !
Ridicule
