    You inspired me to do this. Thinking very hard about it.
    Btw you could have done much more to this. The shape too,you had plenty spaces to cut off and maybe make a more beautiful shape rather be safe than the common S shape,well this is very beautiful too but still you know. Like those Stranberg has ergonomics,cutouts for placing the guitar in different ways while sitting and playing,you know,this type thing. and maybe upgrade the pickups. Well next project please try to do so,I guess.

    This was a very interesting experiment, and it almost makes me want to try it as well... Almost lol

      @WeirderGuitar thanks, it's still holding up and only requires tuning occasionally, I have not needed to drill the nut to expose the truss rod (so far), but overall it's a guitar that plays and sounds ok and fits in my toolbox bottom drawer. Im satisfied

    You had me laughing a few times 😂
    I wondered about these trems. On my old headless I had a problem with the high E always catching on the housing and snapping as the direct pull tuner was pulled tighter Looks like this design has solved that!

      Thanks for watching! Yeah the trem is definitely "unique", it holds tune and locks but I don't use it unlocked as it sometimes does not return exactly to zero, I read the original Floyd rose has this problem. But it sure works for my use as you can't knock it out of tune at all when the lock is engaged. Definitely a great proof of concept, I would invest real money in the trems this unit ripped off for a higher budget headless. Thanks again for giving it a watch!

      @@SmithBikesX thanks for putting it up! I’ve thought about making a headless by chopping off the headstock… this may give me the courage to do it haha!

    Andrew love the video and the concept but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE never make a cut like that again with the miter saw at the 9:05 mark; that can be clamped to make it safe, please protect your hands brother it can be SUPER dangerous to have your hand right there.

    Nice build. I own 2 headless guitars, but would like to convert one of my old guitars to headless. I’m wondering if I could leave the old bridge intact, and attach the headless bridge further down and use it just as tuners. Seems like it would eliminate a lot of measuring to get exact bridge placement

      I had considered that but the guitar I found had a tremelo which complicated alot of it. The Gibson style was what I was looking for. But if you have to deal with a strat style tremelo and don't care about size (I wanted a small tough travel guitar)and you block the trem you could do that, you could do anything. Look up jj cale and his handmade guitars if you are not familiar, I wasnt. Thanks for the compliment and for viewing!

    What about the truss rod? How will you adjust it if its covered?

    • @SmithBikesX
      @SmithBikesX  Рік тому

      I had planned to notch the nut for access, and probably will when the time comes, however when I got it together it needed no adjustment so I left it alone for now. Honestly the neck was pretty stout to begin with, now there is no headstock so the stress is all linear, I'm more worried about the screws that attach the nut to the neck as it may crack. It's been good to me so far
