We are so unbelievably fortunate to have this recording. God, how beautiful was Menuhin's ear, that he could conceive such unparalleled beauty from this extraordinary voicing of the Kaddish by Ravel?
Please know this..as I find modern words. My life becomes anew. As I succumb to this love listen I give it all to what could be. Please love each other and enjoy and just hang your head in joy
Still the greatest violinist I have heard in my life time. This is the young Menuhin at his most supreme. There are a lot of fine violinists on record and playing today, but for me Menuhin is the most satisfying.
Really moving. My late father loved the violin so I play this recording on the anniversary of his departure from this life. Thank you for this recording.
Menuhin's greatness was such that he could inhabit a Jewish tradition, a Christian tradition - as in his playing of Bach -, and equally an impassioned humanistic-secular experiential and expressive horizon (as in his playing of Beethoven and mny others), while bypassing all narrow sectarian constrictions and approaching each and all from the standpoint of an open, exalted and embracing universalism of grace. Thus the exclusionary Either/Or binaries of some responses seem nobly transcended in his case. His performance here is transformative and returns us to our better self.
As a Collector and Admirer of the late Yehudi Menuhin as I've been Collecting his Records for over forty years both on Pre War 78rpm and LP Vinyl and this year Mark's the 90th Anniversary of the Recordings of the Bach Double Concerto Record Number DB-1718 and DB-1719 Non album and the Elgar Violin Concerto DB-1751 DB-1756 with the London Symphony Orchestra Conducted by Sir Edward Elgar album and both of them are Pre War Pressings on His Master's Voice and the Elgar Violin Concerto is in the Pre war album and I've also got the first LP Transfer on Red and Gold Record Number ALP-1456 and the Second LP Transfer in the HMV Treasury Serious Record Number HLM-7107 as well as the two C-D'S one from the American Victor set and one from the HMV Set but the LP Transfer on ALP-1456 is by far the best LP Transfer
Hey Martin, I am an admires of Yehudi also, and have many of his recordings. Maybe you can help me out, I have the dvd Menuhin returns to the USSR. There is a brief piece of music played in the film by Menuhin, he is not shown playing it on the violin ,it is just playing in the background nearer to the end of the film. At the end of the film the credits list the songs played, I know for sure none of the songs listed contain that brief piece of music. If you seen the film, you might know what music I am talking about ,you have any idea on this piece of music, please let me know, it would be appreciated Oh, It is not serenade melancolique ,and I am pretty sure it is none of the Sonata's. Thanks !!!!

Menuhin’s tone touches hearts and souls. This is more than violin playing.

Noone could play it like him, the age and his musicality at this time fits. His tone struck direct the heart.

I used to believe Heifetz had no equal, that he stood alone atop the Olimpus of Violinists. I'm pleased to know that he had company after all

Спасибо Даниэль, неужели Равель был евреем? Проникновенное произведение еврейской души

Was Ravel Jewish?
Ravel was not Jewish, but he had a curiosity, as did Bruch (who also was not Jewish) with the Kol Nidre
יש לי את הכינור שלו
