I think you should’ve split up this ranking video into 2 different videos. 1 for retail and another for hobby. This would make the results different for example contenders would be much lower for retail and optic and court kings would be really high up there in terms of retail. Great ranking video either way!
I am surprised Chronicles was that high but I also didn't open any hobby which is a totally different experience. For retail I thought Select and Optic were really fun to open with Optic Cellos being the king because there is a decent chance for autos and numbered and the clean design in retail format. I thought Obsidian and Origins might be higher based on look but for value I guess not. Thanks for covering just about every basketball release for us!
i like those videos very much. Maybe it would be helpful to specify that you are ranking the hobby products of those sets. I think hobby and retail differ quite a bit, specially in contenders. Maybe a video with your top 10 retail products of the year would be a great addition. Love your vids and all your efforts👍
Great vid buddy. Super informative! Could see a great series of similar vids for all other sports and years. One small suggestion. Perhaps having a a bit more text on-screen. The name of the set and rank on-screen whilst reviewing each set for example. :-) Oh and couldn't find the clear card....lol

I’m new to cards and my first set was the Illusions, why is it always getting hated on? Personally, the cards look so much better than most of the other sets and they have awesome acetate cards.
Back to collecting again, and, i'm with you. The illusions look fantastic. I've tried out hoops, prizm, select, donruss, optic, mosaic, flux, contenders, chronicles, memorabilia, obsidian, court kings, but man illusions are the best. Those acetate inserts are the best too.
Influencers affect card popularity just the way the media affects public opinion about topics. Collect whatever you find aesthetically pleasing and just enjoy. Let everyone else buy overpriced boxes of prizm and everything else
So many sets... I really liked it when there was less than 10 total sets and not 50+ parallels of each card. Made it much easier to collect your favorite player.
Got a Ja Morant fast break auto Mosaic in a break. Same box in that break had the Desmond Bane variant rookie too. Best basketball break I’ve had though have only done a few. I think some boxes are just hot and others are not. No middle ground.
Lol. Ouch. Two of my favorite sets at the bottom two. I think that’s more about budget and accessibility though. I was surprised you said you thought about not making the video. I reference your rankings videos pretty often actually as I really trust your opinions. Hopefully you keep it up. Always great content!
Great video, nice to see your opinion and some really nice cards. I only buy retail and I just like what is visually appealing, not interested in the value of the cards hugely but was seriously disappointed in the retail value I got with Select. I actually love Illusions, one of my favs as it’s such a clean base set, the sapphires from the megas look fantastic, love the acetates too. Love Chronicles as a cheap fun rip for rookies. Really liked DonRuss Optic for the inserts but didn’t like the base. Contenders retail was nothing to me, but those cards you have are a different story. I’m yet to get my Mosaic from the US in the post, but love the Bang insert which is too rare. Also love Slams from Hoops, but they seem a little rare this year, would love to see a Hoops Premium set with Slams. Other than that I opened Prizm which I really like except I wish the cracked ice was stars and rookies only and I got into it with DonRuss and pulled my first numbered card and signature and decided to put the whole base set together. Just a fun hobby and your videos make it better to decide what to buy so thanks! I only wish I had your luck, but hey, that’s retail! Cheers!
seeing all the product together like this makes my head explode at how much there is/was lol. surprised at the no.1 spot for sure. even though its one of my favs. Select honestly wasn't hitting for me when it first came out, then once all the other product came out it started it be one of my favs. I agree that there were way too many parallels in Select but I also think if you can get a rainbow of select together it might be one of the most satisfying chases. ? I think Illusions plays on its name too much and the card colours are too much of an Illusion haha.
Mosaic is my favorite set for the year. Tons of value and really cool looking cards. I understand that there was a serious quality control issue though. Just don't want to blame that on mosaic and put the blame on panini! Awesome video like always bro!
Should do this for case hits or ssp cards!! I would love to own a Trae blank slate, a downtown(panini one & one) and a stained glass or genesis!! I have a kaboom already but really want a downtown prolly my favorite looking card!! The design is beautiful and it has that artistic like look kinda like a painting which makes it more desirable to me and I'm sure everyone else agrees!! Also panini black for football has those gorgeous ssp case hits and basketball don't why is that? Also fb seems to have more ssp cards in general which is stupid to me but I also loved origins case hits as well wish they would bring more case hits to basketball!!
Design wise, I absolutely love Flux. But my opinion is somewhat biased because I got to pull LBJ exosphere. Overall, it was a great rookie class and made it fun to collect their cards!

@ packman , I'm alwayes late to the party man. Why can't i ever get your videos before the deadline? You alwayes pull some cool items that would be great to add. The kids and I recently got into it. Nba is my favorite for sure. Hopefully I can catch a new video, I use notifications and all thay, but you know how UA-cam be sometimes. Keep up the good work man , hoping to get to build a channel with the kiddos soon as we get more content together. Maybe one day a video of theirs will be on here. I like your list Packman!! Good list definitely 👍 Two things I disagree: Obsidian- that product is too good looking and exotic to be "only" 17th. I would definitely put it in Top 10! Illusions- I have this product at least 10 places higher. Inexpensive and got that chrome look to it and I pulled decent sfuff... I'd say #15 or #16 for Illusions.
You read my mind, the better looking cards are always so much nicer. Obsidian looked rly good this year and so did illusions so I was definitely shocked as well.

There seems to be this movement for crapping on every set released because their neighbor does. Though I can’t stand Optic this year, great content and cool to see them all together

I love flux so much. It’s so better than than prizm IMO especially for the price. I think of panini didn’t really mess up with the hobby boxes, it would be super popular

Don’t you the reason the products were behind was because the 20-21 season was behind. The draft didn’t happen until November and the season didn’t start til December.
Flux is gonna end up being a sleeper for sure out of most of these sets, Enjoyed the video my dude! P.s. chronicles is sooo ridiculously undervalued! People miss the hobby version parallels
Hmm so many people hated the look of flux. IMO should have been like an insert style.. or they need to lighten up the artistic effect and let the athletes breath on the card.
Chronicles kinda suck they are barely better than illusion. Donruss is nice and simple along with nba hoops. Mosaic should be higher. Prizm is overrated its hard to hit and very expensive its just so sought after that it carries name value and it’s high quality. Optic is the best imo, it has the perfect blend of color and simplicity along with valuable cards and more affordable of the high end cards.
As someone who is just getting into the hobby, there’s a lot to look out for. Just sad that it’s ridiculous expensive. Thankyou for the video. I’ve opened up Illusions and Mosaic and NBA hoops. Really enjoy those. Maybe one day I’ll be able to get the really great stuff! 💪🏾💯 Happy hunting.
I just started collecting. I think mosaics is great. Especially the jam masters, holo fames, men of mastery and stained glass inserts. I'm glad the community under values it coz I can pick up singles cheap. I have to agree the auto list from this set us rubbish. Only ja and luka are worth pulling.
Wish I could open even just 1 box of each of all those you just showed 😪 lol. Your hard work has made you lucky in that aspect. I'm stuck buying mosaic retail whenever I can find it lol and even then I feel the price is to high

Spectra is super underrated
For me personally in no particular order it is the usual suspects: Contenders Optic, Prizm, Select!

Yeah contender for nba and nfl is probably my fav. Wish hobby was more affordable.

The contenders are simple and I like them too. It's also good to have a white base. I don't like being too flashy

Prizm is top 3 for me and chronicles would be like 15, resale value for me is very important so Prizm optic choice and Contenders definitely top 3

I love flux so much. It’s so better than than prizm IMO especially for the price. I think of panini didn’t really mess up with the hobby boxes, it would be super popular

Don’t you the reason the products were behind was because the 20-21 season was behind. The draft didn’t happen until November and the season didn’t start til December.

Hmm so many people hated the look of flux. IMO should have been like an insert style.. or they need to lighten up the artistic effect and let the athletes breath on the card.

Chronicles kinda suck they are barely better than illusion. Donruss is nice and simple along with nba hoops. Mosaic should be higher. Prizm is overrated its hard to hit and very expensive its just so sought after that it carries name value and it’s high quality. Optic is the best imo, it has the perfect blend of color and simplicity along with valuable cards and more affordable of the high end cards.
As someone who is just getting into the hobby, there’s a lot to look out for. Just sad that it’s ridiculous expensive. Thankyou for the video. I’ve opened up Illusions and Mosaic and NBA hoops. Really enjoy those. Maybe one day I’ll be able to get the really great stuff! 💪🏾💯 Happy hunting.

I just started collecting. I think mosaics is great. Especially the jam masters, holo fames, men of mastery and stained glass inserts. I'm glad the community under values it coz I can pick up singles cheap. I have to agree the auto list from this set us rubbish. Only ja and luka are worth pulling.
I understand chronicles, but Contenders! It is one of the worst. Out of 20 boxes you open Contenders you would be lucky to get a good auto.

Josh it's because Illusions is a card board paper stock. Chromium sets are more sought after.
