- The new Ghost album, Impera, is just killer! Many people on UA-cam have covered some of the popular songs already but this one right here (as of May 13th) has been only covered twice; so I needed to put my mark on it! I had to expand my kit to the tom rim triggers for some higher rack toms -ya like em?
I really dig the slow break down section in the middle of the song which I think might of been inspired from Journey's "Mother, Father" track on the album "Escape". In fact, many of the tunes on Impera have to be direct inspirations from the 80's; I can totally hear some Bon Jovi & Def Leppard influences on some songs..

Your drums sound 10 times better than the album. His snare sounds so flat and "boxy" on the studio recording. Nice shirt!
Well thank you for the amazing comment. I never thought my drums sound better than the originals. 😊 I've noticed a lot of modern music is using that really strange sound snare sounds now a days. Just goes to show, more and more tracks are featuring samples because it's just easier. Oh well. As for the shirt, oh yes! I love my Grunt Style shirts and feature them very frequently on my covers. I think I need an endorsement deal. 🤣😂

I'm like Fournier - good GOD those toms are thunder. So I'm going to get into Ghost after hearing this. I love seeing my friends covers but this one has that melodic vibe that drew me in. That half time breakdown in particular really made me smile. Playing is m-o-n-e-y dude. Bryan bro, this is so f*ckng good. As you said at the end "FUCK YEAH!" Best of luck through the summer dude
If you're like Fournier, then I give you the same request, I'd love to hear you cover a Ghost song! I'll suggest the song "Spirit" for you -fast tempo, killer riff. Give it a listen, you might like it. The "Fuck Yea" was because I did like 5-6 takes and I then started editing the footage and none of them were good. Some had bad mistakes, some were ok with minor mistakes, and I was gonna live with it. I had the final video edit done and I was like, No! I can't leave it like that. So I was like, let's see if I can get something better - last and final take - nailed it! Always appreciate your comments Trey.
Yeah I’m really liking the new album almost as much as those cannon toms! I’m going to download the full album this weekend on Spotify. I hear what you mean about the mother/father breakdown. Similar but not a ripoff imo. Love the guitar harmonies after the break too. You nailed it as always my friend! The China at the end was the icing on the cake! Good luck on the collab. Mike, it would be amazing if you cover a Ghost tune. Love to see your playing on one of them songs -maybe the song that breaks you out of this funk!? 😎 So I know you would appreciate this, the ride is from the Rooms of Hansa SDX, the China is from the Drums of Destruction EZX (it's a Meinl Byzance), and the high rack toms (on my tom rims) is from the Rock Foundry SDX. Yea, I have some drum covers stored up with drumless audio that I think you will really appreciate the quality. Maybe it's part of my big project? 😏😉 Thanks for the 3 years of support brother!

Steve, it's comments like this that make me keep doing drum covers on UA-cam. I am glad you appreciate the hard work I put into the covers, it means a lot. Thank you! As for the "Fuck Yea!" at the end, well, it was because that was like my 7th take. If I recall, the 2nd take was good, but I messed up at the end. At some point, maybe take 5 or 6, I was like well I got the ending good, so perhaps I could just splice the two performances together. I decided to go for one more take, then call it a night, and I nailed it from front to back -so the FUCK YEA came out!

What SD3 kit did you use or do you use for mose of your Ghost covers? Great cover!
All of my kits start with the Djent kit from the Superior Drummer 3 core library. I then tweak it and add other elements from other Toontrack libraries. My suggestion for that is to change the playback speed in UA-cam. I actually use that a lot when trying to learn parts; comes in very handy! 🤘
