Unexpected reaction to cut down 12’ high hedge

Grace came home from school but hadn’t gone in her backyard, so when she came over to my place, next door, via the the front yard, I took her through our gate to her yard to see her reaction. I didn’t expect her to not be able to identify what looks different. Fun experiment.
It’s time her dad shaves his beard to see if she notices it!!
