American Treasure . American Icon . I am a Boomer RocknRoller and Jimmy Durante iconed easily into my generation . I hope subsequent generations keep passing the Durante torch
RIP Dannie 🙏 I loved Jimmy Durante when I was young too. Still do! My little (he's 60 😊) brother just sent me this link. Sorry you lost your brother, he's appreciated for his service ❤
(4/7/2022) Sanford and Son (A Box in Town - episode) brought me here. Fred was impersonating Mr. Durante heading up the stairs. Thank you Mr. Foxx. God rest your soul. You too, Mr. Durante.
Jimmy was one of a kind! Somewhere today I passed an article that mentioned his name, and I remembered as a child watching him perform "Inka Dinka Doo" on TV. Somehow even back then I knew he was a legend. Not bad for a man who left school after the eighth grade! THANKS for posting this.
This is the opening song on the comedy GREEDY with Kirk Douglas and Michael Fox it's killer funny I love the table scene in the beginning. Type in greedy table scene
@@bubbaray575 Actually, that was Doug Young, doing his best impersonation of Jimmy Durante. And, a grand job he did, too! Other cartoon voices were based on, or referenced Durante, but it was Jimmy himself who did the speaking and singing voice of the narrator in the animated 'Frosty the Snowman', in the late 1960s.

Vietnam was horrible. I thank all of our wonderful vets, and I offer my condolences.
Jimmy Durante never aged he looks the same in 1933 as he did in 1970.

I remember him from when I was a little kid, I’m 68 now.
We watched him in a movie last night.
This world us running desperately short of good old fashioned non-sense. Thank goodness for the great Durante!
Wonderful
Loved Jimmy! So happy to hear this song again, it’s been a long time! He was one of the greatest ! Goodnight mrs calabash wherever you are! 😍
Waitress from Calabash North Carolina. Jimmy said I am going to make you famous!
Lucille Coleman is Mrs. Calabash
It looks more modern then 1933. The big swing band was very popular in the 1940s.
You're totally right, this is from "Two Girls and a Sailor" (1944).
Forget NYC, if you can make it on Vaudeville, And Talking Pictures And TV....
You Can Make It Anywhere.

In his era only 11% of grade school graduates went on to high school
And when I'm online on a live feed I sign off with this: Good night Mrs Calabash wherever you are?
This is from the movie Two Girls and a Sailor 1944
1943 I'd believe....1933 no way...Harry was still in the circus. "Two Girls and a Sailor."
A great entertainer
The Last Make-Em-Laugh Man!
Absolutely fantastic, awesome showmanship. Just... great. :-)
I mis the good old fashioned entertainment.
Showmanship for sure!!1
Miss him!
BRAVO!!!!!!
This is from Two Girls and a Sailor (1944), not 1933.
The original version was from 1933...but yea this is Two Girls and a Sailor...i was confused as well
💞
This is America and the spirit that won us the first two Wars.

First time I heard this song in 94 , when I was 8 , from the movie with Michael J Fox
Now you're 32, how's life treating you?
He always looked old😄😄😄😄
Someone beat me to it, but this is 1944. Harry James didn't have an orchestra yet in 1933.
Actually 1933 is a bit early. The band leader is Harry James so I would bet on 1944.
LMAO Inka Dinka Doo 🤣
He sounds a lot like Hanna Barbera's Doggie Daddys from Augie Doggie!
I hope so, he did the voice.
He did a lot of cartoon voices.
Good catch by the way.

I dink I like it
1943 I think….
Was that Liberace on piano ?
He was doing three minute “Soundies” at this time but No record of him in this film or ever playing with Harry James.
