HEARTSTEEL - PARANOIA ft. BAEKHYUN, tobi lou, ØZI, and Cal Scruby
So League of Legends newest boyband and music group HEARTSTEEL dropped their first song and music video.
After doing the full watch through the first time, I went back through and paused and gave my thoughts throughout the music video for Heartsteel. Overrall I really loved it and I think the song is catchy, but there are a few things that I think I would like to change.

So... these are all of my thoughts and what I would change... What do YOU like and dislike about HEARTSTEEL? Should they have had a lil dance break/choreography in the vid or nah???
regarding the dance/choreography part, they kinda remarked on that by saying they specially decided not to do lots of dance because they dont want to be another boy band. will try to find that tweet
i personally like that they haven't done any choreography. It worked with KDA as it was heavily kpop influenced but to repeat that formula here may been redundant. I think this was a better route for them to take.

Yeah it took me a second to get into it. AT first I was like woah oh no no non no. you can't put that voice into Kayn, and then I thought about Rhaast, and what he is doing in the video acting all super human, and I was ok. I see you Rito, I get it now. *thumbs up*
@@talisredstar1543i love the fact that in the lore of heartsteel, rhaast is his alter ego instead of a darkin, and the little details showing us that rhaast is taking over with that eyepatch removal, the lyrics, the full transformation with the mask, can't wait to buy his skin hhhh
In Regards to Kayn’s voice, there was like a demo where they had Cal Scruby rap in his normal tone and the deeper tone to differentiate Kayn/Rhaast. I wish that they did that instead for the tone dynamic, but I feel like it would be too cluttered if they did.

I think there could have been more solo K'Sante, but I think some of the best stills involved him. There have been some comments about how the voice doesn't match, but I don't really agree with that. If we'd -seen- more of KS singing with just tobi lou's vocals, I think it would have helped. I saw someone complaining that part of it is the accent, but plenty of people "lose" accents when they're singing, and tobi lou was born in Nigeria. It was probably cool for him to lend his voice to a character like KS. Him being a big man, and thinking he can't have a soft voice is weird. Tobi lou could bulk up, but his voice won't suddenly drop 4 octaves.
The only champ out of this I play is Aphelios, but it was cool to see all the character interact. One of the writers on League made a Twitter thread about this AU Kayn and it was really sweet.

You literally described all my emotions while watching it. And yes, I wanted a little choreography. But even so, the video was very fun and hot right away
K'sante was easily my fav upon first viewing, and it also struck me how little screen time he had in the music video. I'm not sure if it's just me, but it felt quite insidious that Aphelios and Yone had more scenes/focus despite them having no speaking roles. Obviously, I still massively enjoyed watching/listening to their song, and I understand that not everyone gets to shine equally in a MV, but with that combined with how disregarded or ignored K'sante's role is from fans...

I don't really follow LoL apart from the music and Arcane. I became invested in this bc my fav singer Baekhyun was voicing Ezreal and he also did some gaming streams 😂 I LOVE the song and all the artists singing/rapping in it did amazing. It's on my workout playlist now bc it's so hype! The video is also very fun and I loke that it focused on them doing crazy things. Like a few seconds of dancing, even if "badly" lol, wouldve been a fun add. I'm sad they didnt give K'Sante a solo part in MV, especially since tobi lou sang the bridge i feel like he shouldve been the main focus there at least. Otherwise, I'm happy with everything! ❤️

I feel like they didn't fully use Ezreal (Baekhyun) full potential vocal range. I was missing the vocal runs and the high note and ofc the choreo😢😂

After listening to this i was like okay where was this at in the Paranoia MV😂 all joke aside, the music is pretty catchy and good
The song is a bop, but there are some things I would definitely change, or improve on. Since this group has 2 non-vocalized characters, they need to do a better job of incorporating those characters without it cutting into the solos of others characters, because only the people that actually knew something about the characters and band knew that it was K'Sante singing during the bridge. Instead of having so many K'Sante solo shots earlier in the MV, save the solo shot time for his actual vocal feature. I don't think Ezreal actually got that much airtime either. It was definitely Kayn and Sett who dominated, but they also had the longest verses. I hope in the future that they utilize the vocalists a bit more. I mean, Baekhyun and tobi lou both slayed here, but it seemed like the rappers got a bit more love in this first song. Can't wait to see what they come up with in the future!!
Love the analysis, I agree! I have questions and these answers aren't adding up.
I asked why couldn't they have Alune be a voice or something for Phel so we could tell the difference between for his parts and the other guys. People said that they wouldn't be a boy band if she was singing or talking in the songs BUT they DON'T have to dance because they aren't a boy band?!?!
That being said I loved it but those questions deserve more thoughtful answers. I want this band to crush it!
honestly i like this. i dont get why people think dancing = kpop. I really hate that answer because there are so many singers/dancers. Beyonce, MJ, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars. Are they kpop because they dance n sing?
Now me personally, i do think alune singing for aphelios makes sense, but i loved tobi's singing over aphelios sososoosos much. i thought it was beautiful. i also hate alune because i love aphelios, so its my own personal hatred that i love the fact that i cant hear her LFMASIJFOL.
you do know they will be live in just a few weeks for worlds. we know they can move so lets see what they do live.
It was genuinely awesome, though I will always be a little bit bothered at the fact that K'Sante's singer whole part was about Aphelios and so K'Sante never really had his moment. Which didn't make sense to me.
While Kayn's singer was singing, he was the focus.
When Ez's singer was singing, he was the focus.
When Sett's singer was singing, he was the focus.
When K'Sante's singer was singing...the focus was on someone else.
Not staying that Aphelio's part wasn't good, it's just that I didn't understand why K'Sante's part didn't focus on him. KDA, Pentakill, and True Damage all had their moment in the spotlight where this one didn't quite hit right in that spot. 100% everywhere else tho.

Kayn's voice kinda works as a shocker. Also it's my favorite part.

It was SO disappointing to me how they downplayed K'sante's part in this music vid. A lot of people assumed his part was supposed to be Aphelios but Aphelios is literally MUTE! I dont want to assume the worst but I think it's pretty apparent why they made that choice. -_-

@@beasthaven1571 Aphelios is unable to speak in the base lore for league, cause he consumed a poison that wrecked his vocal chords. Heartsteel is basically an au, I looked into it and apparently he CAN speak in Heartsteel, but chooses not to.
But yeah in all of Riot’s promotional material, Tobi Lou is listed as the voice for K’sante and Aphelios does not have a singing voice.

One thing that’s ironic is that Riot tries to appease to the straggots by avoiding any explicit queer representation in the music video even though 5/6 of the boyband characters are queer coded. Cisman called this gay regardless and hated Heartsteel when they should’ve just appealed to the girls and gays because we’re the ones who would appreciate a boyband more. But in KDA they’re ok with making Seraphine x Akali and having Evelynn be touchy with the other girls because it’s all women. Ugh, I hate cisstraight men.
Let’s also acknowledge the fact that they did Ksante dirty in this music video, and I think we all know why but don’t wanna say it. He didn’t get any spotlight or solo screen time even during his own solo verse, they instead chose to focus on Aphelios making me think that it was actually Aphelios singing not Ksante. They try too hard to appear to not only the cis straight men but also the East by not spotlighting people of color (who aren’t Asian) as much. It’s also why we never got a True Damage comeback and it didn’t do as well in the East as KDA.
WTF. How can get so mad about a fictional boyband. About True damage. it wasn't the colour of the people who sang in the song that was the reason why it didnt go as well for them. Leagues biggest audience are korea and china, right?. So it would make sence that the k-pop band did much better. It's not because the skin tone but instead the music. 5/6 queer? Where did you get this information from. Actually curious. Evelynn in the lore is a sex demon so don't complain how she acts because that is who she is. The voice who are supposed to be K'sante doesn't fit him at all. It would be weird to see a big black dude having such a soft voice, they shouldv'e gotten a better voice for him and I agree it was weird to show Aphelios when it was K'sante who sang. The voice fit Aphelios more even though Aphelios can't speak. People who use the words cis etc, they are the reason why this world is going to shit. I don't understand why everything must have a racist, sexist or homophobic reason to not like something. If it isn't your cup of tea then it isn't. You don't need to be sexist against men just because you feel like it.
my only grievance is that they didn't do a true damage and give kayn all his voice lines with the singer they used, its my favorite part of true damage ekko and a little icked they didnt do it for kayn.
