I was like that years ago, but it always became a nightmare migrating to a new system, opening a project and it telling me I have all these plugins missing. Then I'd open another project and there'd be a different set of plugins missing. These days I try to keep third party plugins to an absolute minimum. I'm using Cubase 13 Pro, and its stock plugins are for the most part as good as anything, don't even really need Fab Filter Pro-q coz the stock Cubase one is dynamic and has all the same stuff on it. Now my projects are 90% Cubase plugins. I might use Soothe on my high gain guitars, and I hate the Cubase limiters - they are pumpy. I like using Noiseash's desk EQs, but I don't even use the Noiseash Pultec anymore coz the new Cubase Pultec sounds great.
Hello Sean and Dan, thanks for the great episodes! I’m late because I had Covid. I agreed with you this price is too heavy. By the way there is new stuff from IK Multimedia. The T Racks has new plugins and of course saturation plugins… not bad. Have a great weekend 👍
I just use the stock Cubase saturations, they sound great. Aside from that, I use the Noise Ash EQ desk plugins for some EQ shaping and sometimes I drive that preamp on em.
@@guidomartin1017 no it can't be, bc if it is most accurate to the an actual Fairchild, then it's inaccurate to the Unfairchild, bc they aren't 100% sonically identical. Izotope have just brought out an "intelligent saturator". My mum has just brought out a saturator too, it saturates in exactly all the ways that all the others do, because saturation is a defined thing. However, my mum's version calls you a "f***ing mug", just after you've bought it, in an email, rather than the usual, "thank you for your payment of $5000 for this one of a kind plugin", which is generally applied when one buys this shite.
Ok, so my 1 issue is not, the price, though, come on... its that I work as a full time pro, for over 25years now, I learned the hard way, If you buy a plugin from a company that is a smaller company, you run the risk of it disappearing, either the company goes away, or they stop supporting it, whatever, but there is nothing worse then having to open a client's achieved project and a plug won't load. Same issue with subscription, you never really own it. So buying a saturator from UAD/Waves/Fabfilter/PSP... I know for the most part it will be support for a long time.
If it's Hong Kong dollars I will buy it. $299 USD is simply insane for any saturation plug-in, no matter how good it is. Make it $50 like Valhalla DSP or maybe $99 but $299 ??? You can buy a pretty good hardware interfaces for that money! It is Sh!t, no matter how good it is!
They do it to themselves. Great plugin, absurd price. They think they’re creating value - they’re only talking us out of using it. We’ll stick with PSP tyvm
@@StudioLife101 Nope! I bought more/different plugins!!! But from that point on I was much more judicious in my choices and I always waited for sales. Well it’s actually $300 plus the price of the keyboard I spewed Diet Coke into when you posted the price. We have all this pristine digital stuff and then pay MORE to make it sound a bit shitty. Some people collect stamps. I collect saturation plugins.
Haha! I can't think of buying another saturator. I have like 10 and after a while they all sound the same.

Hopefully they wont sell any and re-adjust their expectations. Thats insane.
Good measurement on why would you buy something that costs more than a DAW

299 Dollars. Two words , Fk That.
I checked the price a while back. If memory does not fool me i expect to hear that it is s..t at the end of the video.

wow £300. Cranesong Pheonix prices and you need something pretty fucking special to beat that
Pheonix still pisses on it - gerts the low end thing spot on cannot explain just magic bullet (for me anyway)
I like this multi device approach, similar to Klanghelm SDRR or Melda MSaturatorMB, but those two are considerably more affordable.
299$ that’s rough

Gonna need you fellas to do the Unfairchild Plug-in from Mixland … I think it might be the most accurate “Fairchild” emulation to date
Can't be, if it's an emulation of an emulation
Yes it could be but the price is also heavy same for the cpu. I think it is for mastering…
I definitely second that 👍 Might be interesting to compare it to the Mixland Vac Attack on PA that is currently £19
