In a couple of weeks I am going to go through this. I am an extremely light sleeper. I absolutely have no clue how I'm going to sleep with all that stuff on me while in a strange place, being watched by a strange person.

How did it go? I am allowed to do it from home so I’m glad for that much because I can never sleep in a new place until the 3rd night when I am able to rule out all the common sounds and stuff 😅 that’s why I rarely take weekend vacations.

I’m going next week to have mines done. Ever since I had Covid out gave me asthma, not enough oxygen to my lungs and on a breathing treatment. Now I snore, and I feel like I’m Drowning when I lay down. It’s just awful

Just went thru a sleep study last night. I was dreading it - cancelled and rescheduled 3 times over the last 15 months - I did NOT want to do it. However, my several health issues, some of which are probably exacerbated by apnea, made me finally give in and do it. (I’m 66). It was not something I’d want to do on a regular basis by any means, however, it wasn’t even close to as awful as I thought it would be. You do get hooked up with a million cords and that isn’t fun, but the part I was most dreading was being “observed” while sleeping. That , actually was a non-issue - I didn’t even think about it once I was in bed (I was too busy fighting with all the cords!😊) Half way through the night my respiratory therapist came in to actually hook me up to a CPAP machine (perfect timing coz I had to go to the bathroom by then) and I have to say the next 3 hours were the best sleep I’ve had in years - literally years. I wish I would have done this study 15 months ago instead of putting it off over and over. If you’re debating on whether or not to do it, stop debating and do it. It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. (And unlike some other comments I saw on here - I found the bed very comfortable!). I’m a woman and found it very embarrassing to have to acknowledge that I snore. But fact is, apnea makes you snore and can also kill you. So, ladies (and guys) get over it and deal with it and get healthy. CPAP machines may not be sexy, but being alive is!😀

Wow. I am 66 too and will be doing my test tonight. I know I snor and so did my parents and grandmother and my daughter. So I would think this was a normal thing. I also sleep every night for 5 hours. I am looking forward to see what will happend. I feel I might be getting that breathing treatment you spoke of.

While I can't guarantee your own experience, I've had two sleep studies and I was amazed that I was able to sleep with all that c*** on. It helped me to get great sleep. See it as a step to a better future. My husband is going for his fourth sleep study in 30 years. He's been a quadriplegic with brain damage for 22 years. We look forward to getting the results and a new machine. We both recommend the process and the results.
It looks weird, but set your mind to the process and you will gain good sleep.

The doctor wants me to have this test again. I tried to have it 5 years ago and I couldn't fall asleep. This video is from 2017. Has anything improved so far in a way people can have fewer cables attached?

I just had this done last night and it wasn’t bad at all. People were wondering if they’ll be able to sleep with all the wires and the answer in YES! They put them on in a way that theyre not in the way. The wires are very light weight and you can’t even really feel them on your face. My biggest issue was my sew in weave🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ I didn’t know and wasn’t told I needed to have my scalp visible or that there would be wires placed on my head. But my tech was really nice and was able to work around the extensions. So ladies, if you have extensions please take that into consideration. Wear your natural hair to the sleep study and save yourself and your tech the time of having to maneuver around the extensions, weaves, or tape ins. My room was very very cozy and comfy! Had a nice size tv. They offered snacks and drinks and what I loved the absolute most was that they not only had a thermostat to control the temp in your room but they had a fan! Like a floor fan. I’m one who enjoys the sound of a fan to sleep and I sleep with one every night so that really helped my comfort level also. Trust me guys it’s not bad AT ALL and you forget about the camera watching. I saw it as a little get away of peace and quiet. Relaxation and just time to be alone. I couldn’t be on my cell phone which was also good in my opinion. It allowed me to enjoy a good tv show (I watched Chicago fire episodes until I got sleepy) and spent time just praying and talking to God and the tech comes in and ask if you’re ready for tv to be off. They also provided me with warm blankets! I’m actually hoping they call me bk to do it again 🤭 😁 anyways best of luck to everyone. I’m waiting on results

I don't see how they can get an accurate result from anyone with this kind of setup. You're in a strange place for the first time, hooked up with all kinds of annoying wires, belts, and hoses. It's any wonder how anyone gets to sleep in that situation. How do they separate "apnea" from sleep disruptions due to all the crap they have on you? I have to go in Dec, but I'm on the "short list", so we'll see what happens...
