On the topic of this video, I don't know yet if I'll preorder those box sets. It's great to have the HoME books in hardcover, but I would have LOVED to see some illustrated editions. What a missed opportunity...

For copyright reasons I have to be careful about reading too much of the books. If you have a look at my Frodos Journey videos I read a lot of passages from LOTR as I described what was going on.
@@TalkingTolkien there’s plenty of audiobooks on UA-cam and even tan made Ken’s with no such issues just do a video of each chapter per week

Man, I wish it was easier to find info about the US release. I would’ve already preordered if it was available here. I can’t even find Harper Collins actually announcing this release, I only see something from the Tolkien Collector’s Guide.

I am quite excited with this release I have been waiting for a hardback set of HoME, but in my case Im not to happy about the fact that they are not releasing them individually. As I live in South America, and our country is not doing quite well at the moment it is really expensive to drop 100 pounds in one go. The 64 pounds deal in amazon is quite good, but still it is a lot of money here.
Do you cover your standard hardcover editions of the Tolkien books? They look so glossy. Actually, the other books too…

Hopefully this set will be printed by Graphicom who printed the recent Deluxe illustrated the Hobbit
That cover design for Unfinished Tale looks like it might be the same as the one John Howe design that was originally release in 1991 and was later re-release in 1998 with a slightly updated cover that matched by an edition of the Silmarillion that was illustrated by Ted Nasmith in 1999. So I'm curious is that Silmarillion is the same Ted Nasmith cover or a new John Howe cover.

P.S. Currently reading "The Silmarillion" shown in the preview thumbnail. Its "Introduction to the 2nd Edition" has a footnote that is repeated in full at the bottom of that very page in an absolutely wrong position. Irritating... 🙂

Thanks for the heads up on these releases! I've currently got an incomplete collection of the History of Middle-earth series, in a mix of hard back and paperback editions. This sounds like a great chance to replace them with a complete set of matching hardback. I've just placed my pre-order fir the first box and I'll be keeping my eyes open for the rest! 😁
