Enya was very nervous, her voice trembles, she's very shy too. The Academy made a huge mistake not giving Enya the Oscar for Best Song ,that, 23 years later, is played, is sung and I heard one person that wants this song to be played at his funeral. Enya deserved the Oscar so much 😢😢😢❤
Everything right, you said great truths. I will never understand why she didn't win an Oscar, either. She was nervous yeah, what a pity because she is a very good singer
Enya is supremely talented. She's terribly shy and I think for someone who is not known for concerts and touring, to be thrust upon the stage at the Academy Awards would be very scary. She did a great job, even through the nervousness. Enya I ❤️ you and your music!!
@@GMATTOEFLSATGRECOACHthis one is live man. its difficult to perform if the song has so many vocal layers like orinoco flow. But may it be only has single vocal layer in the lead vocal, its totally live

Gema Guevara Good point. Tolkien partly based his Elves on the Tuatha de Danaan, a mythical race in Ireland that lived there long before humans, yet passed on something of their culture to them. She has the kind of look and dress sense I imagine the Elves would have, especially the Noldor, such as Elrond and his daughter, Arwen.
John Ballantine There's something regal and elf-like about her. And I've heard of the Tuatha de Danaan. I believe in Ireland elves are referred to as the Little People. Of course, they're nothing like Tolkien's Elves.
Gema Guevara The relationship between myth and fiction is very interesting. The Tuatha were once beings of great stature, beauty, wisdom, and power, just like Tolkien`s Elves, but their fate and history was to be eventually displaced by humans in Ireland, and our memory of them obscured and diminished to the point where we sometimes mistakenly confuse them with elves or the Little People you mentioned. Tolkien writes of the fate of those Elves who remain in Middle-earth after the events in 'The Lord of the Rings' to be one of obscurity; to become something of a cliche more akin to childish entertainment. So Tolkien`s imaginary world comes to resemble ours; as if he was writing history. But like the Tuatha they were once much greater. Of course, he didn`t just copy the stories of the Tuatha, but used them as a starting point for his own books, particularly the theme of displacement. He invented languages first, such as Sindarin, which was closely modeled on Welsh, and only then thought of the creatures who might speak it, the Elves, and so his stories began to grow. His biographers tell of him saying how he needed to read many mythological writings before he could begin his own; mostly Germanic, Scandinavian, and Celtic. His overall aim was to create a more complete and coherent mythology for Britain, which he thought it lacked.
The-Art-of-Guitar she lives very secluded in a castle she owns in Ireland. Just her and nature and water all around. Fitting since she's like a goddess. If the planet could sing, it would be her.
You'd think she was dead by way your typing , we are an eternal infinite energy, the meat suit is a short term vehicle. We have had at least 2000 previous life times.
@Brielle_Zoe Nah there's a difference between vibrato & shakiness. She's a Melancholy Phelgmatic (Most introverted temperament blend) thus she's incredibly nervous but she has solid technique so it's not a complete vocal wreck.
@Brielle_Zoe You do know that there are different types of introverts right... I don't even need to know you deeply to know that you are not a Melancholic Phlegmatic like she is. Her style of singing isn't "shaky". This isn't even tremolo; her voice is literally trembling in parts. "I am really a very shy person. If I appear, it is because of the music, not because I want to be seen." - Enya
I remember watching this live on TV that night. Her appearance and performance was a startling contrast to the setting, the people, the entire vibe of that evening…it’s as if some other creature descended on earth. My brother and I looked at each other after she stopped singing and were like: whaaaaat….😯 She is otherworldly.
Anyone criticizing the voice, she is first and foremost a composer. Considering the nature of a lot of her music, she probably does not do this so often.
Her voice is spot on! On key and in pitch. Her only trouble was her nerves causing her voice to waver more than controlled vibrato. She’s a hell of a singer. And for her to sing live after probably years of not being on stage she did fantastic. There’s artists today who sing daily and even with practice can’t get up there and deliver like that.
Considering she's so shy, I'm pretty impressed, definitely Enya is my muse, my escape, my freedom, my cure and I know she will never know this but her music gives sense to my life and I'm happy to be in a world where there is an angel like her.
She is stunning. I love her privacy and her shyness and vulnerability she shows... the world would be better place if we were all a little more like Enya...

People! Enya is not used to sing in front of an audience, the thing that makes her so nervous during live performances. All of her work is in the shadow, in a studio. That is her domain.
Her voice was hardly trembling at all, first of all, vocals from recordings are never exactly the same especially when singing for a live audience in which you must sing much louder than if you were recording the song.. Not to mention in her recording there is almost an echo to her voice to make it sound more angelic and eternal. She was completely live and in control of her voice. She was completely professional and ready to give the audience a nice performance. She is from the northwestern tip of Ireland, she is very much a Celtic singer with much a different background to music than some Americanized singer that we are used to. Idk why people keep saying she's trembling when she sounded fine. She's singing live for god sakes.

My favorite singers live, in terms of uniqueness and 'sounding as good as/or better than the record version': Her & Billie Joe Armstrong
