    I think that NASA has very low expectations of the public's intelligence. Some of us might not be PhD wielding astrophysicist, but we can take a little bit more science then we're being given.

      @HerrKapitanSebas Not simplification but incentive. Appealing to the masses is the only thing that will allow us to continue exploring our solar system and beyond

      Yeah, we need to appeal to the unwashed masses, like you two are saying. So that the unwashed masses will "allow us" to explore the galaxy. It is my belief that the unwashed masses have very low expectations of the unwashed masses' intelligence.

    Grand solar minimum! Get ready for longer winters and cooler temps!

    • @drkstrong
      @drkstrong 3 роки тому +2

      Not going to happen any time soon. SC25 is ramping up faster than solar cycle 24 did implying it will be a larger cycle.
      We just had out first X flare of SC25 just 18 months into the cycle, another indicator of a more active cycle.
      Even if we would go into a GSM, it would not significantly affect global temperatures. If it lasted 70 years like the last one (Maunder Minimum) it would only offset about 10 years of global warming from increased CO2 in the atmosphere.

    • @nikkibonbon1600
      @nikkibonbon1600 3 роки тому +1

      @@drkstrong that's possible. I don't believe we would know exactly what would happen in this case esp throwing "co2" levels in there..? I think crops should be prepared for cooler or warmer Temp cycles and be prepared to be transfered to places within a country that the Temps are suitable. Because can't these cycles affect crops if the earth is cooler or warmer in places where it wasn't previously? In our location we have noticed the weather being unusually cool this summer.

      Hi. If during an equinox there is equal amount of sunshine on both northern & Southern Hemisphere & the sun is not on a tilt, why is it autumn in one & spring in the other hemisphere?

    • @kao354
      @kao354 4 роки тому +2

      @@user-rn3bb3dj4p First of all, there is a temperature inertia. In other words, earth or nearby ocean are working as a thermostat, as they accumulated some heat during the Summer or lack of it during the Winter. In other words, after Summer during the Autumn the same amount of incoming Sun radiation will result in higher temperatures (the Earth or ocean accumulated some heat), than during the Spring (there is not so much accumulated heat left after Winter). Have a look at the first winter month and the last winter month. Usually temperatures during the latter are lower, although amount of incoming radiation is higher exactly due to the less amount of heat accumulated in the Earth or ocean.
      Second - difference in names is obviously because after Spring you have Summer and after Autumn - Winter! Which is due to the change of the tilt. :-)
      Also, the seasons are distinguished by the temperature, not by the amount of incoming Sun radiation.
      Hope it helps.

    I operate HF radio's in the 27.335mhz bands, when there is high sunspot activity we get a phenomenon called skip. This is a condition when the upper atmosphere becomes ionized and reflects some of the radio waves back around the curvature of the earth. This makes it possible to communicate with other operators many thousands of miles away using very low transmittion power. With out the sunspot activity communications are only limited to about 100-200 miles on upper and lower side band frequencies, With little increase in distance no matter how much power is applied to transmittions.

    In solar minimum, the solar winds decline. Allowing our magnetosphere to wane in strength. So more cosmic radiation is entering our Earth, 360° longitude and latitude. Allowing our atmosphere to be energized [ionized], our surface to be cooked not in a healthy way and eventually our molten core to gain. The latter quality, i believe, allows for more seismic and volcanic activity. The unpleasant kind.
    Some are saying that the next solar minimum will take us to the lowest depths, called a grand solar minimum. An ice age of sorts coming our way.
    Solar cycle 25, a solar maximum, started in December 2019. So the next solar cycle [26] will be some time about 2038 or so. A Grand Solar Minimum.

      I believe this to be the case as well. I’m sure they wouldn’t have just made “the day after tomorrow” movie based off of actual data now or did they.
      I’m sure there’s underground cities being built in preparation of such an event.

    Is this referring to the suns polarity north and south flip? If so I thought we had experienced that flip in 2012-2013 which was only 7 years ago. Is approximately 11 years that large of a gap? Is this normal that this activity is "early"?

      During Solar minimum the Jetstream becomes wavy , slow and Un-predictable namely a meridional Jetstream which creates pockets of extreme heat and cold within middle latitude zones as such broken heat & cold records simultaneously and more prominently in Northern hemisphere. When the sun is in its maximum more stable weather is generally measured with less frequent variability in heat records , well to my best of understanding.

      In 1859, Los Angles County saw a temperature of 133 degrees. Then as well as at other times, it has to do with downslope winds. I believe it might be called the Foehn effect and the dry, warm winds sweeping down from the mountains can raise temperatures up to twenty-five degrees and fan fires.

      the weakening of the polar vortex is one factor... Which is a result of the climate change. 2020 was one of the warmest years on record and of the last ten years..thr rapid cooling predicted by some people on UA-cam did not happen... It did also not happen the last 5 times when they predicted this... Solar irradiance has been going down for years and the earth did not cool.. Why would it now?
