@@tinypoolmodelshipyard Unless you live on a boat like we do in the Keys. Ride out a ton of storms, but you have to have things properly tied, lashed, stowed etc. Anything over 50-60 on a sailboat starts to enter the no-fun zone real quick, hahahhaha!
Not overly worried about this one, maybe some gusts but nothing sustained. We are just starting to get some big rain from the outer bands, my bet is that tomorrow won't be as bad as tonight. Infact, the party has already begun here 👍

II’ve lived thru 5 hurricanes here in Florida and Elsa is nothing compared to a category 3-5..
And the report didn't say this was anything like a Cat 3-5 either. They just said to keep an eye on the forecast. Exaggerate much?

I was listening to a old radio show from 2008 and they were talking about that great winter storm that never was in NYC but hyped every day in the news for a week before...

Exactly, they did the same thing to Louisiana a few weeks ago. They sounded like a Katrina was coming to New Orleans and it wasn't even a Tropical Storm but low pressure system. And the best part was our Governor declared a state of emergency.

Well if it’s anything like Hurricane Maria, I’m staying put. Living on the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa Bay, we were told to evacuate, yet no gas, traffic so bad it was a standstill. In Florida there’s only one way in and one way out. We will be fine, God is on our side.
I went to the east coast for the 4th break, and was planning to drive back to Tampa on Wednesday/Thursday for work. Is it really gonna be that bad?
Tbh never had problems with tropical storms but I'm new to the west coast. Seems like it's dangerous to drive back on Wednesday.

I wouldn't move patio furniture unless it's getting really windy what we do is tie chairs down and if you have a trampoline flip it upside down its just depends if it's really windy if it's not then I wouldn't worry about it

The week I decide to move to Florida I run into a hurricane
It's not a hurricane. It's a tropical storm
Elsa is just a tropical storm it's not a hurricane the first year I moved to Florida hurricane Mathew hit and I slept through most of it not sure what area of the state you moved to the longer your in the state of Florida you will learn that tropical storms are usually not a big deal unless your in an area that floods hurricanes are what you have to be concerned about if the hurricanes are not a category 3 or higher it's usually not that bad and worse thing you can do is freak out and panick basically be prepared board up your widows unless your home has shutters put sandbags down if where you live floods tie down furniture or bring it inside have plenty of water batteries flashlights food that's basically all you can do unless your one of those people that leaves way before the hurricane hits just dont do what my aunt and uncle did they waited until the last minute to go home they were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic got stuck out when Irma first landed had a hard time getting gas it was a mess because people listen to the media and panick

@@justpalms9978 I have always been told this too....is it a "lay of the land" type thing, or a physics, angular quirk that seems to keep it safe from the gulf approach.... I'm fascinated by (and afraid) of hurricanes.
@@ironsnowflake1076 naturally they went to come into the gulf and go toward Louisiana or Texas. Only way a storm gets"pushed" into center Florida is if there is another area or High or low pressure out over the western Gulf to steer it our way. The other way is usually a late season storm usually end of season maybe October, one will come straight up the gulf from Caribbean, but again needs another system to steer it back to the east.
Being in center Florida really requires perfect conditions to get hit, which is why we never do.
Another thing is any storm that hits the east coast first is weakened by the time it crosses the state and gets to West coast.
Just remember the weather Mann is always going to hype it 10 times worse then it is.

@@222urban8 The water is plenty warm in the in the gulf right now, 87-89 degrees. Wind sheer, a ridge of high pressure and dust from the Sahara Desert are what will keep it from strengthening... this time.

@@thedude5010 Not for this storm, unless your house is surrounded by untrimmed landscaping. This storm will likely be just a series of average Tuesday afternoon storms for us. Little gusty wind 40mph or less and a couple inches of rain, no big deal.
