It never fails to warm my heart watching someone being effectively overwhelmed by a first listen to 2112. Hell, I'd go so far as to admit that it pretty much always leaves me feeling personally verklempt. I just love the fact that our community can keep spreading the gospel of Rush to future generations.
This was their F-you answer to music label asking for radio friendly song, they answered with a 20 minutes futuristic rock-opera. From then they were blacklisted by the industry but they kept building an amazing fanbase remaining true to themself... 40 year of music, 20 albums.. they kept together all that time. The best 3 man band ever. 3 virtuosos. Welcome to the rush rabbit hole... you'll love it! here are some song that you should not miss in your journey... have fun! 🔥🎵💎🔥 thanks for indulging Rush, Neil on drums, Alex on guitar, Geddy on bass and vocals. 2112 catapulted them, worldwide. So difficult to suggest a song because they morph and evolve the music, as well as the storylines or issues the music tells about. But here's a couple. Witch Hunt or Fountain of Lamneth would show variations in their style. Both are epic.
This is the first Rush I ever heard, in January 1978, age 14. I was learning to play guitar. I bought this album because my friend Jon said Rush was good and I knew what Tschaikovsky's 1812 was, and I got the whole 2112 connection. Plus on the back of the album, it had that "then I found something" vibe that was irresistable. I was hooked, first time I ever heard them, they gave me something I wasn't getting from my Kiss albums! There was real emotion in this work!
Rush blew me away in 1979 and I've been a disciple ever since! Both my sons are *huge* fans too, and between the both of them, they've been to 5 shows :) When they were just young boys, I'd sing The Trees as a lullaby - twisted as that may be LMFAO!
loved your reaction. you are somewhat correct ( your comment about the priest being youtube) the 3 guys that were in the cartoon at the end are the 3 members of RUSH. yes only 3 making all this music.. anyway this song was about the people running music. and what should be played on the radio. they were TOLD to make nice short songs that can be played on the radio. so they made this ... lol 😆 😊❤
Great reation glad you enjoyed it. Rush is an amazing band welcome to the Rush Rabbit hole. They have over forty years of music to enjoy including 19 studio albums and a ton of live performances as well. I recomend that you check out "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" from Fly by Night followed by "The Necromancer " from Caress of Steel.
2112 was loosely based on Ayn Rand's Anthem. This album was my introduction to my favorite band of all time when I was 12. Also my introduction to Ayn Rand. LOL
Dude, I love your reactions! You’re damn funny and I love it. Perfectly dry sense of humor and I’m here for it! Mai I request you react to ‘Xanadu’, from Exit Stage Left tour 1981?!?! Please?! You’ll love it. Cheers from Bellingham, WA, USA
will do althou i heard xanadu long long ago and loved it but dont remember anything other then XAAAANAADUUU haha so yea will do ... but limelight from that live is coming next in 1 h :D ....
@@Finkreacts Ha ha ha! Xaaaanaaaduuuu! Watching them perform it live is amazing. Geddy (singer/bass player/keyboards/wizard) uses foot pedals to play keys when he’s away from the keyboards and Alex (guitar player/badass) plays bass via foot pedals. If you have a quick eye you can see Alex move his hand from 12-string guitar to 6-string at something near the speed of light (both he and Geddy use double-neck guitars in this) a couple times. Geddy’s double-neck is bass and 6-string guitar. He only plays the guitar in like the last minute. Neil (drummer/percussionist/greatest drummer ever) goes apeshit on everything within 30 feet and has a couple stick tosses/flips as well. You’ll love it!
@@dignan4Yes, the “Exit Stage Left” performance from 1981. Grab the version from @StickHits channel, he does great enhancements to the video quality of these old recordings.
You just slid the North Korea thought in there…First time I’ve heard someone make that reference but it is just about perfect in our current, non-space-travelling age. Hope you keep on the Rush journey. SO much great music across 40 years.
A cool thing about the end: “Attention all planets of the Solar Federation” is seven words and “We have assumed control” is four words. Each sentence is repeated three times. 7 x 3 = 21 4 x 3 = 12 2112
Yes, no lyrics at all, but you will be pulled in by their performance. It was one of their hardest to play, When you hear you'll know why. The Exit stage left tour version.

Dude. If you're anywhere near what was called, the Eastern Bloc, this song should resonate. "Hold the Red Star proudly, high in hand." Sounds like a Mayday parade.

Absolutely enjoy watching a first time hearing and remembering in 1978 when I first heard this!
Had to believe this is 1976. Rush was way ahead of their time. The following two albums defy description.
ctn wait to hear :D

Rush was given one more studio shot before being cut by their record label.... 2112 was their response! The rest is HISTORY!

All three are the best at their instruments! Alex is so underrated on the guitar, but he NEVER had a bad solo.
