Dennis Struijcken I've only seen Safin create that tight crosscourt angle a few times, whereas Nalbandian can consistently hit that shot. They can both hit down-the-line backhands with the best of them (although hitting down-the-line backhands for 2-handers is now considered a essential part of having a good 2-hander, let alone a great one). But the ability to hit that short crosscourt backhand really separates Nalbandian by a hair over Safin. Usually that kind of ability is reserved for one-handers (and even they have trouble hitting that shot with as much pace, efficiency, disguise, or consistency as Nalbandian).
man david was playing orange bowl vs roger and juniors finals vs him... to think that roger still playing and Nalbandian looks like he retired ages ago!! the amount of effort, selfcare & work that you need (and maybe a little luck with injury) is insane! what a goat!. I would always remember roger vs David matches! my favs
Best "reverse" 2h BH capability ever and overal 2h BH angles. I don't really see any player this days tryng to make a shot to the left with. an open angle using 2H BH, that was the magic and the awesomeness of Nalbandian, the rarity of that shot due to its difficulty could surprise everyone.
i remember the first time i saw him play at the 2005 atp finals and was in awe of the pinpoint accuracy of his backhand. i usually favour players with flashy strokes like roddick and verdasco but he made a fan out of me.
TheSaxophoneMan16 He clearly have more talent than Federer, not biased, even Fed said that. I think he defeated Federer twice in the Wimbledon's juniors finals. As you said, he valued more food, party and women over tennis. That's why he will be always remembered as the best player without a GS. Such a shame, it was a thing of beauty watch him play
He must’ve been closer to a continental grip/flat ball to create such power and angles. The swing is very compact with so much control and little wasted energy. I can’t imagine the ball had much topspin? Any thoughts? Took the ball early?
A backhand is a shot that is mainly played with the left hand if the player is right-handed.I think that nalbandian has a very keen sense with his left hand.I think he could also hit the forehand with his left hand if he wanted to. If our left hand is sensitive, we will naturally be able to hit topspin or flat shots at the moment of impact. By the way, I was able to develop my sense of left hand by hitting the wall. At first, I started hitting with the left at really close range, and gradually increased the distance. Now I can hit the forehand with my left arm.
Also, Nalbandian doesn't hit every ball with full power. 2:26 fullpower Of course, it's important to hit the ball in front of your knees, shift your weight, and relax.
Don't mess with Nalbandians backhand. I still don't understand why players hit the ball on his backhand so much, oh well they deserved what was coming to them.
Nalbandian was the most talented, but fitness was always an issue. I'd put Delpo ahead of him just because of the USO 09' win beating both Nadal and Fed back to back. But in terms of potential, if everything was in place for David like his fitness and mental strength his best tennis was world number 1 potential. Some of the tennis he played at the end of 07' was some of the best tennis I have ever seen still to this day, beat an in form Roger in straights in Paris and absolutely destroyed Nadal in back to back tournaments.
If he was more focused and dedicated he may have been the best of his generation. His talent and skill was unreal, it was his lack of motivation and fitness that prevented him from being a great.
It's ridiculous how grounded he is when he hits his backhand. The technique is for sure the best ever seen in tennis.
The best double handed backhand in the history of tennis. Period.
superivanhoe Safin deserves a nod, but I must agree.
Victorio GL Safin was very accurate as well and Nalbandian's was extremely powerful too. I'd say it's a tie :)
Dennis Struijcken I've only seen Safin create that tight crosscourt angle a few times, whereas Nalbandian can consistently hit that shot. Rios' one is a serious contender.
i'll take Agassi's backhand over anyone, Nalbandian a close second though
0:50 legendary backhand what a Genius
0:36 - 0:40 - I can watch that ALL DAY LONG! Beautiful!!!

exactly, his inside out backhand is unreadable.
Nalbandian's BH winners are so satisfying to watch. Just a beauty.
The one person who disliked this video is the linesman at the queens club ;)
why does he sit so close to an athlete who is competing at the highest level?
The point at 0:33 is probably my favourite shot of all time haha
+Thiemo Bol Roddick agrees
Roddick Face is Priceless *_*
He swings it like a baseball bat, absolute monster
I remember back in the days i loved watching him play what a beast
thank you Noubar :) such a delight to watch and re-watch and reminiscing those amazing shots of David. The best backhand
My favourite backhand of all time :)
What a shame he retired, still a lot to learn from this video. Beautiful shots.
Best backhand ever
i remember the first time i saw him play at the 2005 atp finals and was in awe of the pinpoint accuracy of his backhand. i usually favour players with flashy strokes like roddick and verdasco but he made a fan out of me.
Best player to never win a slam imo.
He would have won slams if he didn't value food over tennis. But overall an extremely talented guy, bordering on Federer talent.
TheSaxophoneMan16 He clearly have more talent than Federer, not biased, even Fed said that. I think he defeated Federer twice in the Wimbledon's juniors finals.

Marcos Mazzoni agree, he said he enjoys life more than others, and he finds the game of tennis very easy to master.
+Marcos Mazzoni Yes, that is true, plus that he love racing. Right now he is racing here in the rally argentina championship.
+Marcos Mazzoni Not sure i rate nalbandians forehand as much as federers
My favourite player
EL MEJOR REVÉS A DOS MANOS QUE VI EN MI VIDA

Best looking two handed backhand (a rarity).
How is he able to strike the ball so cleanly?
Because he his the most talented
Solid technique and great eye hand coordination
This fills your eyes with tennis
I can't get past the first half of this video. I keep on rewinding it and re-watching. How's the 2nd half?
Gracias David que lindo haberte visto jugar.... Solo te faltó ganar un Grand slam amigo... Fuiste un gran gran jugar
El gran Rey David!!!!!
Nalbandian's backhand is always fluent and quite often sensational!
Great video!! Nalbandian has the best backhand in the ATP for SURE!!!
a beauty! a left hand forehand
of sure the best bachkand two hands ever seen
absurd that this guy never won a major

We’ll be saying the same thing about Kyrgios 5 years from now
Hello! Can someone put some of David Nalbandian's best (complete) matches on youtube? Like for example Nalbandian vs Berdych in Madrid 2007. Thanks.
This was one of Federer's main opponents during 2004-2007.
Weak era my fucking ass.
WE MISS DAVID
his backhand was awesome!
Why, oh why, did it took me so mong to come here? probably because of Federer. I love Nalbandian. He deserve a grand slam for sure, magic game!
King Davis Nalbandian, the best ever from Argentina!
Listen to that sound at 6:34, that's when you know it's a winner
2:32 I don't think anyone can dominate Nadal's forehand like that (except for 2017 federer lol)
him and safin had such a devastating bh
What a nice way to strike the pixels
Fantastic.
0:52 what is that, thats insane
I was wondering, if he plástico with the 2hb in both sides, would he be a better player?
can you upload the highlights of the match Nalbandian-Tipsarevic on the JJOO? Thank you
Good work El Armenio!

Couldn't agree more...Richard Gasquet said when Nalbandian plays well he is "undefeatable"

Novak's or Nalbandian's?
+Gabriella Ghanem Even Novak him self said Nalbandian's :)
When was this?
Madrid 2007
If he was more focused and dedicated he may have been the best of his generation. His talent and skill was unreal, it was his lack of motivation and fitness that prevented him from being a great.
Nalbandian's on the offence, Djokovic' on the defense. And Safin's trumps both ;)
Alabado sea este precioso revés
five guys dont like this sport ajaja
+juan igancio 5 guyz do like tennis but they care about race more than the sport. probably Turk/Azeri.
YONEX MEN WE LOVE YOU
Thumbs up if Watching in 2018
Too bad the photography's so poor- (you can barely see the ball).
HERMOSO (L)
This video is proof that God is unfair.
Yes!He should give this talent to worker like David Ferrer.
I'm tennis fan and I like Nicolas Massu however David Nalbandian is no.1!
