@@JoshuaDTV wow, I totally agree! for me it is binge eating. I would reward myself for eating right for a length of time by bingeing on all kinds of junk food, just for a day I would think, but then that would lead me to fall off the wagon and undo so much of my progress. Just for my "reward". Thank you so much for posting this! I just decided yesterday to get back on the wagon again and I really needed the encouraging message.

Something I heard that helps my mind: sobriety & recovery are different. Recovery requires sobriety, but sobriety doesnt require recovery (think "dry drunk")... You can be sober, but if you aren't working on healing, you may not get better (and from previous experience, may easily relapse...). Honestly, this recovering Josh is my favorite version of Josh I've seen. Keep it up!! Its inspiring!

Josh spoke the truth there in the middle. FEAR is the real problem. Accept that fear of the unknown and MOVE THROUGH IT. It's normal to be afraid of the unknown. But in the case of breaking addictions, the unknown is a life free of addiction. Take the leap of faith! You can do it!
    All for Love ❤

My app says I’ve been smoke free for 2 days and 19 hours. I’ve been sober for 19 years, junk food free for a year but not smoking is the hardest thing I think I’ve ever done. They say you’re supposed to tell people when you quit, I guess to be held accountable, so that’s why I’m writing this. I needed this encouragement today Josh, thank you. I'm 7yrs 2 months 12 days clean/sober.. My best advice is find a meeting either NA or AA.. Remember when your attending your meetings & your clean/sober we stay this way by giving away what we have! Also find a therapist.. Both of these has kept me clean/sober.. And i was absolutely the same way i would get no more then 2wks clean then fall right back. I was in active addiction for 13yrs straight with no more than 2wks clean ever until 3/13/13... Best wishes to the person that wrote that comment! ❤

You really are lovely, you also have a great way of articulating yourself. Despite not sharing the same particular struggles as you - I found this video internally helpful, reassuring and very relatable for many.

I appreciate this content so much. In my opinion I feel like you should post more about this topic. You give such real and authentic advice. Whether you realize it (I’m sure you do) or not, you’re impacting people on such an insanely deep level.
I’ve been watching you for years now, when you would put on a show to entertain people. Back in the “vlog with me, vlog vlog with me” days, Or the “it’s the moment that you notiiiice” I even downloaded that ish on ITunes. I still listen to it now.
THIS is the josh I appreciate the most. Your REAL, true, genuine self. Flaws and all.
Thank you for being you, and being honest.
We don’t know each other, and probably will never cross paths. But I’m proud of you...keep doing what you’re doing.

My bff has struggled with addiction most of her adult life .. one thing she would say to me whenever she was going through something or working hard she'd say I deserve to get high after this., and I would say no you deserve to be good to yourself..because in the end that's what you are doing when you give in to ur cravings, u are self harming . She eventually learned to forgive herself and ultimately love herself. Shes clean 6yrs now. Finding new harmless hobbies helped keep her mind busy. And the obvious staying away from people places and things that can trigger cravings. Hope this helps someone out there struggling. Sobriety is possible . 💜

Honestly, I know this is about being sober, but I feel this about my weight loss. I struggled, and still do, with an eating disorder. It’s hard to push forward and not reward myself with crap food just because I’ve been killing it working out. Because, unfortunately, it destroys me mentally. You’re so right. Thank you for this video. It helped!

I 100% am this way with food. Meditation helps but I still struggle. Every day is about learning to love myself and be my own best friend. I want to be someone I can be proud of.

Thank you for sharing that. Ive been struggling with using food as a reward and way to numb pain. I'm losing my faith that I can achieve a healthy way of coping with life, it just seems to hard to deal with.
