@@jimjim7008 Thanks for the suggestion. For a more reasonable price I might go for a Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60´s. It also has the looks and plays nicely too. That way, I will still have enough money left over to take the wife out to a fancy dinner and she will not complain about me "buying another guitar"! :)
This guy just loves to play guitar. I like seeing people do what they love. Having lots of money is great but doing what you love puts you on a higher level.
Wow, that might be one of the best sounding LPs I’ve ever heard. I like how each switch position yielded very individual tones. As different as the neck and bridge were from each other, they sounded great when combined in the middle position. Very balanced. But then again, with your skills, you can make a fishing line nailed to a broom handle sound exquisite!
I'm looking at a 2020 1960 reissue this week (R0). The slimmer neck is more to my liking. It will be mine! That's a beautiful top on that R9. Sounds great.
High end Gibson is one of a kind. No other company will ever come close. It's not only a sound thing, it is a feel and a texture of emotion. For example, performing a proper technique vibrato on a guitar this heavy w a neck like this one. U did this piece the justice it deserves.
In the 70's I had a wonderful custom Gibson Les Paul Sunburst left-handed, I waited 4 months for it it was rather expensive 🫰 but it never left my side. To rehearsals, studio, and on stage. The tone was bliss! And no other guitar felt like it! Sure it was heavy but with time you can get used to it... That 59' reissue is just wonderful! After several years I had to move to Europe and sold it. I regret it still to this day 😢
I have an '07 1958 that I was fortunate enough to get at a great price used. It's my #1 for sure. I can't imagine how much better the throw Baks could sound compared to the classic Burstbucker on that R9 featured. Someone just went all out on that beast! Beautiful guitar though.
Really beautiful playing here, especially the beginning. Fantastic tone, as well. Tonemaster, eh? Lovely. Is the gain just from that amp? // That beautiful first part is inspiring me. I’m 56 and have never learned how to solo. I can play Van Halen riffs and whatnot, but I don’t even bother with solos…. Over the last couple of months, I’ve had less and less interest in even picking up my guitars at all. Maybe just general anhedonia, maybe just boredom from lack of progress? But I think I’m going to start again, from the beginning as if I were new to it all. With the objective of being able to do what you did here. I mean, I can probably copy some of it now, but… I couldn’t improvise it. I just don’t have the grasp of any theory and a poor memory for scales…. But, this helps with rebuilding motivation. Thank you.
just try...baby steps. Theory should not be a hinderance. Take your time..I used to be so frustrated until I take time to enjoy what little i can play and them progress from there...
Nice guitar, maybe an incredible guitar, but the fact is that you demonstrate how the player is the important part: You make this Gibson sound great, but you also make a Harley Benton sound great, or a Yamaha, or a Fender, or a....or a.... Fabulous playing!
Superb playing as usual. Btw t minute 7:01m, you reminded me of Journey's fusion era. If God was a guitar it would be a '59 Les Paul Standard for sure. 🙃😊
When God decided to make the perfect guitar, he made the 59 Les Paul and then he broke the mold. There has never been a better guitar in terms of looks, tone, playability, and just downright sexiness.
In Canadian funds this guitar is around $10,000.00. What Gibson had done is create the illusion that their guitars are above all others which they are not. They are among the top of the guitar food chain but not necessarily better than guitars half their price.
There's no question that the LP is the most beautiful guitar ever built. Toss the pickguard and covered pickups in the trash and swap in some black/cream zebras and then, it is the most beautiful. The pickguard and covered pickups look g@y, too me. Like taking reflectors off the spokes of a bike. Must be done.
@JonIsJustTooLoud amazing guitars tho, I have a martin Special 16 rosewood and a few other guitars but given the opportunity I'd legit either trade 1 kidney or like be a stores slave for a year to get me a r8 or r9
Beautiful, and very expensive instrument..and in the hands of an amazing player ..however absolutely CRINGING @ the 4.13kg. 😩 Why the heck are Les Paul's so damn heavy ????
My PRS SE 594SC weighs 4kg, my Epi '59 Outfit 3.8kg and all my other LP-Style Guitars 4.3-.4kg. Even my Ibanez JEM Jr. Pink weighs 4.3kg. So i would say that LP is not so heavy.
My Strat weighs 7lbs...my baritone tele weighs 7lbs. I have a Harley Benton tele that weighs 10lbs...don't even enjoy playing it while sitting down. I want to sell it ! Weight is a deterrant when you're an older player. @@Worlds_Worst_Guitarist
I get chills thinking about how they actually get people to pay the ridiculous amount of money 💰that they charge for a brand new guitar. It's criminal. I hope and pray every day that Gibson goes out of business, and never returns. Same for Mark Greasy and his filthy t-shirt and leather jacket.

A beautiful guitar with a fantastic guitar player,a marriage made in heaven.
Wow, thank you!
Not a true marriage without running through a Marshall.
That top could roast marshmallows with all that flame. Your technique seems really smooth. Amazing tone.😮
Thank you!
Looks and sounds fantastic! All I need now is to rob a bank and get 6,699.00 dollars to buy one.
hahahah
Or buy an early Les Paul classic and replace pickups and trussrod cover but you still may need to rub a bank with current prices haha

That’s so true.. I thank God for that✌🏻❤️
The clarity is sublime that's a beautiful instrument Great review and great playing.
Glad you like it!
That's a great-sounding Les Paul, for sure Jon. But I'm consistently pulled in by your very soulful playing - no exception here.
Thank you!

@@JonIsJustTooLoud It should be. Price is never a guarantee of greatness. I'll hopefully find out later in the week.
Nice sound and reminds me of a Paul I played as a kid that belonged to a band member back in the late 70’s! I was about 14 and it was awesome!!!!!
nice!
Beautiful solo and a beautiful guitar!
Thank you!
So warm, the pickups are absolutely perfect.
Yes they are almost perfect
I got chills listening to you play it!

Best Classic Stylish tune match the classic Gibson, fanatics' Performance JON, Love it
Thanks
Great sound all around, and totally nailing Page's sound on the Rain Song when using the neck pickup. Love your playing and your demo vids.
Thanks!
That's a keeper, don't let it go bro
Can’t afford it lol
Beautiful Song
Thank you
I like that the neck pickup doesn’t sound muddy.
Yes...great pickups
I want to like 1000 times!

A Lovely looking Guitar and of course, you compliment it perfectly Jon. I can just see you with an original 59 Burst in your Arsenal 😜🙏🎸🎸

My Epiphone goldtop is thw best LP I have ever held or played. But, NOTHING sounds like a true Les Paul.

Yes there are great pickups
You have a Maybach Lester Midnight Sunset aged for half of the price
try Swee Lee Singapore

Why are the strings wrapped over the stop tail bridge instead of through?
in theory..to enhance sustain
Hey Jon would you choose this guitar over the PRS 594 Single cut?
I would of they are priced the same.. but they are definitely not lol
R9真的超級好聽的
Yes!!
Could I ask what strings are on that guitar (size)? Thanks!

@JonIsJustTooLoud you're right, the price is only to high for those of us who don't have an extra $10 grand laying around.
Can get a Chibson for $300.00. Looks exactly the same.
Bone nut? Should be nylon to be vintage correct.
✌🏻❤️
3 more grand to go, and it's mine. But don't care for the Murphy lab . I can scratch my own guitar at no extra charge.
hehe
Hi may i know who is the dealer for gibson in singapore? Cos swee lee no more.. Thanks..
welll..... no one at the moment
Thanks jonathan
Why buy a $5000 guitar and change the pickup’s😢😢😢😢😢

Why not ?!!
Throbak's 👍💰

It's not too bad. If you look at the Les Paul standards, majority are around 9.5 pounds (approximately 4.3 kg).
I've read Les Paul's can range between 9-12lbs... They're just too heavy for me. @@huangss00
