The Hep Cat (Java Jive / Sheik of Araby)

- An excerpt from an excellent Merrie Melodie cartoon from 1942. The song is Java Jive, but the lyrics are a parody. "The Hep Cat," directed by Bob Clampett, written by Warren Foster. Animation - Robert McKimson, music by Carl Stalling. And, of course, Mel Blanc as the voice of the cat.
🎵 "Oh, I love the girls and the girls love me
Just like the Sheik of Araby
My fatal charms makes 'em fall in my arms
I am sure a gorgeous hunk of man." 🎵
How could Mel Blanc hate working with Bob Clampett? This is gold!
TPDManiacXC626 it was because Bob Clampett took most if the credit that is why i lot of the fellow directors (especially Chuck Jones) hated him

Mel Blanc took a lot of credit for stuff he didn't do too. Like the Elmer Fudd voice and all the female voices.
Bob Jr. said that Bob Sr. really put Mel through the wringer during the recording sessions. IMO, a majority of Mel's best work was done under Clampett.
That was due to his contract. Not Mel himself. Leon gave him sole voice credit instead of a raise.
The girl cat's high-heel paws...
Aw my darling... a cup of coffee, a sandwich, and you... oh you are the flower of my heart. Sweet Adeline.
0:19 It's Victor Mature folks
I am sure a gorgeous hunk of man.
What a coincidence!
0:55 that cube of ice on that cat's shoulder is symbolic of giving him the " Cold Shoulder ". That Gag was used in the Betty Boop cartoon " RED HOT MAMA ", when Betty Boop gave the demons the Cold Shoulder.

This cartoon is the first Looney Tunes cartoon in color october 3 1942 The Hep Cat

I967 that first Merrie Melodies cartoon was in 1934
Were you talking about when the Merrie Melodies went to color? Otherwise that series of shorts debuted in 1931.

Not gonna lie he looks like Babbit from a tale of two kitties.

I was making a furry joke because they sort of made it unacceptable to people with no understanding of cartoons to have a animal act like a human

)0:55 Dat bish is so coollld, that poor jive cat shivered.
I keep mis-remembering this as "Hemp Cat". And I never consumed any hemp. It's just the way it's pronounced that throws me off.
Download it if you like it, I will be deleting it soon. But it's not a full cartoon.
It was a prototype of slvester
That is Salem the Mii Cat's plot character
This is Sylvester's pilot character
Not really.
@@yosefdemby8792 wdym? This is his early concept
@@captainhero6621 Is it? It just looks like a generic black cat.
